I think variants like Alola-Exeggutor are cool ideas, but having them actually change type and be so drastically different feels weird.

The site has some clarification on the new mechanisms. So for using a z-move a pokemon will need to hold an item, so no Mega with a z-move.

This is the original Exeggutor. The old one is one that somehow migrated away from Alola and adapted to its environment. Obviously, being 33 feet tall wasn't a good survival strategy in a place without palm trees, so they shrunk down to a more compact form.

I wish they would totally overhaul and replace HMs so I wasn't forced to have a water and flying type each game as well as shitty HM slaves.

At the very least they should make is so once you get the HM you can use it out of battle as long as you have a pokemon on your team that ~could~ use it. It should be something that the trainer learns so I can have more diverse and weird teams.
