Play XY if you plan on playing Sun/Moon. It added a lot of new concepts that take some getting used to.
Don't bother with ORAS unless you're seriously craving Hoenn nostalgia.

Anyone else disappointing in the huge wasted potential that is the pokemon franchise? You got this super awesome concept with so many possibilities but GF is so stuck with making their games so formulaic and shallow.

With Sun and Moon coming out this has been on my mind a lot. I personally blame the oversaturation of legendary pokemon and how often Game Freak has been putting out unconnected regions and stories. At least in Gen 2 it was original while still being an extension of the story that took place in Gen 1 in a lot of ways. The new games feel like a lot of half-developed ideas that get shoved aside when they decide to put out the next generation.

Surprisingly XY can be very unfair in certain parts of the early game and is very unbalanced unless you're are over leveled.
The level 13 Kadabra/doubles with headbutt furfrous/Hawlucha with X scissor/all sky battles ect.
While the bosses are all piss easy
Most times nuzlockes make me like games more, it just made me realize X and Y's flaws

Caught this last night. My third encounter with a Pidgeot, after two defeats where 1) I ran out of balls, and 2) It backed up out of throwing range. This time it backed up again, but I managed to land a "Great!" Great Ball curveball FTW.
