I think I get why B2W2 are so good: they're the only games in the series (along with possibly HGSS) to focus on the content and the game itself rather than being marketable and selling lots of units (and motivating people to buy lots of TCG cards and toys). Lo and behold, they're the worst-selling paired games in the series, because the stuff that makes them good doesn't immediately cause the buyer's (especially kids') eyes to bug out like with "OMG DRAGON CHARIZARD" or "OMG MEGA FUG STRONKEST DRAGON EVAR".

Lets talk about Jynx.
I don't know if anyone got offended by its original design but I never thought Jynx was made to look like a black woman. If anything I thought she was an opera singer when I was a kid. Out of all the things Jynx was a controversial pokemon for the dumbest reasons to the point the games and the artwork had to be redesigned for the American audience.
