Why do people have such a hateboner for Sonic Chronicles? The gameplay was a little on the shallow side yet fun, the story, while not perfect was enjoyable and entertaining, the POW moves and Chao boosts were nice mechanics that also made for good fanservice, the characterization was some of the best in the series, and in general it just felt like a really solid first approach at a Sonic RPG, with plenty of worldbuilding to go around aswell. The main bad parts are the crappy soundtrack and sound effects, as well as the fact that the game very clearly feels kind of incomplete due to lacking content.

It's one of those games I thought was a perfectly enjoyable experience, but general longetivity and content was nil because it clearly suffered from the devs' cornercutting, unlike Boom or 06, which were not enjoyable to me at their core and the cornercutting just worsened things even further.

Nothing is official, but based on Sega's wording and the fact that they cut ties with archie because of how much of a headache it all was with the character and property rights, I would be my entire life savings you will never see freedom fighters or any other archie OCs in official Sonic material ever again.

And to be honest, maybe it's for the best. I love the comic. I've read through it several times and it's a huge part of my childhood, even the wierd alien time skip shit, but at this point I don't want to keep remnants of it suffering on life support. Just let it be at piece. Characters will survive in the community and through art.

Terrible music which we all know is a cardinal sin, difficulty spike that forces you to grind early on, POW moves can get unfairly difficult and tiring to pull off perfectly, subparoverworld models, uninteresting villain, and it ended on a cliffhanger that never got resolved.

I say this as someone who still likes it, though mostly because of the character interactions.

This is literally exactly how I feel. Evee since the reboot I've said basically "ok, fine. I'm glad it still exists, but if this hapoens again, just let it go next time."

It's really like losing an old freind but then you realize he really hasn't been that person you knew as a kid for some time anyway, so that makes it easier to let go. I think if the reboot had never happened, a lot of people would be taking this news much harder, but because the comic already kind of ended in 252, this is much easier to deal with. That's not to say I'm glad it's ended. Quite the contrary, I love the reboot era art and think some arcs like fighters are great. I'm just saying that nothing lasts forever and the fact that we already had a sort of ending for the events that statted at issue one back at issue 251 makes this news of an ultimate final cancellation easier to swallow.

Sonic Colors has good scenes that developed Yacker, the Wisps, Eggman's plans, etc. The Zeti come from nowhere, the Lost Hex comes from nowhere, Eggman's Magic Conch comes from nowhere. The only thing explained is Eggman was using Sanic to take over the world despite nothing else making sense

It's Sonics plane because the embodiment of ch-

I like to think that Sonic gets stupidly popular with everyone on West Island or whichever Island is the first one, and is hailed as a hero.
One of the gifts he ends up receiving is a personalised plane, a bi-plane with his name on the side.
To get away from everyone on West Island constantly thanking him, he takes his new plane out for a spin, without fully reading the instruction manual on what to do if a red flashing button comes up.

One emergency landing later he crashes it onto Tails island, and the story continues from there, as Sonic realises that Tails knows how to fly one, and Sonic learns properly later.

My headcanons try and just connect certain plot points in the story or fill up some missing info, which I find is the best way to do headcanons.

Because Mania is coming out you fool. Taxman and Stealth did 1/2/CD, and then got told they could do original stuff for their next game, so they did.

Sad truth is I thought Julie-Su had potential. She grew up a child soldier in a militant tech cult, has suffered multiple mind-wipes that destroyed any pretense of a childhood she might have had, and now is justifiably happy with her life as Knuckles' squeeze and honorary Chaotix member.

I know that her practicality is something of an anchor for fun scenes, but I think it would have made for an excellent counterweight for Knuckles' intensity and shortsightedness.

She could've been the best parts of Raiden and Lois Lane in one. I would've loved that shit so much, it would have given some life to the stodgy Brotherhood drivel. That kind of chance was what was lost with the reboot, and it's what I still feel nostalgia towards even now.

You're not wrong, but again, it's all in the writing for the character. I still contend that, for all the stupid Mary-Sue shit that Penders put all of his characters through, a decent writer would have been able to sift through the many flaws and do something decent with them.

That's arguably the biggest problem with Penders outside of how batshit insane he is - his characters have potential, and under a more competent writer perhaps the ideas he has for them could be fleshed out into something acceptable. His pride being what it is, though, he doesn't seem to be able to stomach the fact that people can take the things he creates and do better things with them.

Honestly, if it were up to me, there's be 5 retro zones (again, one each from Sonics 1, 2, 3, K, and CD), 5 new zones, a one act Sky Chase tribute, a two act Death Egg penultimate zone with old and new design elements mixed in, and the final Super-only boss zone. 13 zones sounds fine.

See, I've never regretted a purchase.
Mainly because I don't have the time to play so many games, nor the money, so I put in a bit of thinking before buying.
1. Is it so cheap I don't mind losing money
2. Is it made by a respectable company
3. Does it look fun

To this day, there's been 2 or 3 mediocre games I can remember, but the rest were all at least decent.
Or emulated because Mega-Drive games are hard to get.
