Evening, folks. We're ready to disclose our plan to you all for the /sthg/ fangame project. We will first create a small test environment in order to get our team dynamic flowing. This small test environment may lead to something larger as we proceed to the main project, or we may simply take what we have learned and start again.

As such, we would like you, the general, to also participate in the initial proceedings to determine the "theme" of this trial project. It will be a small hub-world area that contains no set objective but should ideally contain multiple places where portals to levels could go. What we would like from you is a description of what you think would be a fun area to run around in as Sonic.

Any and all ideas are welcome. Your ideas can be as detailed, or as vague as you like, but please do try to think about it before you post. Let's get crackin'.

As a side-note, since the Mania panel is quickly approaching, level design discussion will most assuredly be buried, so expect follow-up posts in the future. Cool? Cool.

Well, I for one would like to see a snowy area. This would be a fantastic display of the kinds of environments the team can create as parts of the hub, while at the same time it's something we haven't seen before. It also would give an excellent chance to show off weather and particle effects on the snow.

The upper area can be like Holoska, with plenty of North Pole-esque areas and a section that would lead into Cool Edge. There could be an underground area full of icicles and crystals not unlike the underground portions of Ice Cap which could lead to a level of its own, and finally an ominous, slightly more industrial section that would lead to Eggman's secret snow base in the distance, like White Acropolis.
