OK, I tried cleaning the disc and using a different player, but it didn't work, so here's my review of the first 43 minutes of Halo 4: 4ward Unto Dawn
terrible, in a forgettable way. The lack of budget is hilarious too, they only had one Warthog, the scenes in the cryochamber are filmed to cover up the fact that they clearly only built one half of it, etc

You'd think one of the benefits you would have with a fixed, very low field of view would be implementing a parameter along the lines of "do not spawn here if the spawn area is within another player's line of sight and within a certain distance". But hey, I've never made a game.

Why do so many nostalgia shitlords hate on Halo 4 so hard? It had a fantastic campaign and by far the best story in Halo. It finally explored Master Chief as a character and gave him humanity. Cortana was also emotionally fleshed out and I really enjoyed the relationship between Cortana and Master Chief. In all honesty, I felt it was the best.

I think Halo nostalgia fans only hate it because they added sprint into the game and are afraid of change.

Sprint is one of several AA options. Most players aren't running around like everyone is in 5. And they certainly aren't sliding, climbing, and aiming down sights.
Reach took things that were usually on the map (bubble shield, active camouflage, deployable shielding, or jet packs from campaign) and inserted them permanently into the loadouts.

That's exactly the point dude, Reach's AA break the core mechanic of equal starts in Halo, everyone being a special snowflake with their own AA is light version CoD's classes.
Meanwhile 5's spartan abilities, are mechanics added for everyone and anytime they want. They're not mechanically different as jumping, crouching, zoomin in or straffing.

I honestly feel like for good or bad, 5's abilities feel like a natural evolution from Halo 2's gameplay, i would rather have 6 without any of that stuff and gimmciks (AA/SA), but if we really have to go down that path and compare Reach and 5, there's no way anyone can say Reach feels more Halo than 5.

Daily reminder that the hidden sub-mission at the beginning of Shutdown where you have to fight several waves of UNSC personnel after the successful assassination of Target: Thomas Lasky, is 343i's better contribution to Halo.
Seriously, the arena is great, and the squad of S-IV that take the elevator in to the control room will really fuck your shit up if you aren't ready for them.
The best part about that is that 343 obviously anticipated people going native and built in the spawns for more reinforcements. It's also proof that 343 could make a good SPARTAN OF MURDER game.

Let's get Reach out of the way first. It tried some things. Those things were unpopular. The game is old and gone. Believe me, I spent my fair share of time criticizing reach when it was new.

Halo 5 is a conglomerate of things that are in other primary FPS games. Sprint isn't here because it was an armor ability in reach with limited stamina. It's here because it's in call of duty, and battlefield, and (insert AAA brown and dirty FPS of the month). Same with ADS, same with dolphin diving (slide) and climb (clamber).
And the thing is everyone having these abilities is mostly contradictory to what Halo is and has been.
There is zero reason for sprint to be here. It doesn't compliment the gameplay. Quite the contrary, it's resulted in the devs having to blow up the map sizes to compensate for it.
These. Are. Bad. Design. Tactics.
They're cheap, lazy, and not in the interest of what the established community wants.

The guy in the pic is right. COD had gotten popular and was COMPETING with Halo, but it hadn't overtaken it and left it in the dust.
Halo 3 still had the #1 spot on Xbox live 2 years after launch.
Halo Reach (one) split the community between 3 and Reach (and two) pissed a good amount of people off, but even then still was in the top 10 most played xbox titles 2 years after launch.

Halo 5 is a little over a year old and can't even consistently break the top 20.
A fuck ton of people bought Halo 4 because they were looking for some true Non-reach halo to go back to, and when it immediately became clear it was more non-trilogy gameplay, they immediately dropped the game.

Same with 5, it was bought by 4 million people, and yet they dropped it.

We need to invent a time machine, go back to 2008, and stop Bungie from making Reach. We need to stop Microsoft from forming 343. We need to convince them that fans don't want armor abilities OR spartan abilities in Halo.
