About week ago I was complaining about the inconsistency in brutes and how over powered they are in the game/lore. Several replies kept telling me they wreck everything and not even spartans want to face them in CQC. Cut to Jerome wrecking a huge pack of brutes in CQC in old outdated armor. Yeah nah I was right Spartan IIs> Everything in canon unless it's a named character. Brutes are nothing to scuff at but they're more like gorilla bears with an IQ of 95 as opposed to being Hunter tier levels of stronk.

Brutes are the least interesting covenant species by far.
There is nothing unique about them. They're literally just space gorillas.
They don't have the cunning/sneakyness of elites and lack the strength of hunters.
Even Knights/Soldiers are more interesting as squad leader enemy types.

The star wars music killed it, and the animations were janky, H4 had some smoothly animated scenes but many also weren't

A different example would have to be when you shoot the missle off the FuD and it switches to an awkward directly behind chief angle and then it hard cuts to him standing on the ledge watching Requiem open and he does some dumb animation and the camera is still there completely static

My Ultimate Upgrade/Power build order is as follows:
1. build 2 supply pads and upgrade them
2. build 2 generators (upgrade them asap!)
3. build 1 supply pad but don't upgrade it!!!
4. at 700 supplies destroy your 3rd supply pad that you didn't upgrade
5. immediately build a generator where you destroyed your supply pad and upgrade it asap
6. at 1000 power upgrade base
7. build 1 generator and upgrade it asap
8. your last building will be whatever your trying to get tech 3 for...usually I'll go for the war council for early scarabs.
9. just wait the power out and keep upgrading your base to max tech
While all this is happening you should build 2 more infantry units from your base so you have 4 infantry units to take power locations and resources around the map. Also make sure to grab a mini base and build another war council on it if your going for that scarab/condor rush. use the war council to upgrade your build speed and unit capacity to max. After you have done this immediately destroy it and build a supply pad and upgrade it. Make sure to space out the upgrades in your war council with the build times of your scarab/condor. If done correctly you can have 1 scarab/condor up in 9minutes and all 3 of them up within 13 minutes of the game! Trust me this works! Also don't take any other bases besides that 1 mini base!!! This is a tactic I developed on my own and the only way to counter it is if they can beat you within 9minutes of the game...which honestly is highly unlikely. This build is completely fluent and there should be no wait times in between building stuff besides waiting on upgrades. You have to be fast to execute it flawlessly. One neat thing about this strat is you can already tell if you won the game: If you take a unit over to their side of the map and they already built their second base then you won! They will not have enough time to build a counter attack.

Doubt it, Halo 6 will deal with Chief defeating Cortana and the Created and then after that the UNSC will send a fleet with Anders and none of the main characters from Halo 6 in Halo Wars 3. Don't expect it to be more than that. Halo 4 didn't force you to read the Forerunner Saga, Kilo-Five trilogy, or watch the live action series. Halo 5 as messy as Halo 5's opening was, you didn't need Spartan Ops, the comics, the novels, or the live action series to understand it. So I better not get more than Anders in Halo 6.

I think that problem comes when comparing game lore to book lore too.

I mean in a book, you're narrating the character's actions in how he responds to a physically attacking Brute. They might even try incorporating their "berserk" mode into the books as well.

In lore, Spartan's usually didn't die unless it was a planet destructing weapon (like a nuke to destroy a ship such as Jorge), the environment (Sam I think? His suit was punctured so he couldn't survive in a space walk.), and finally it usually comes down to either being protective or surprised (Think the one in the animated ODST episode where she gets her head smashed in by protecting the ODST, and their motion trackers can be fooled).

The main reason named ones are usually important is somehow they have an IQ of 100 rather than 95, but usually they're still functionally retarded. It's why the Prophets wanted them as their new guards, they figured they were easier to control than Elites, and they had a much larger intimidation factor. Even if they were disarmed they have their bare hands. It's why Atriox hit them out of left field. He just learned to stay alive on a battlefield, learned battle tactics, and decided he wanted to go back to his Brute roots. Pirating, looting, raiding, killing, fighting, and winning.

Finally, the Covenant was big on armor representing their status within the organization. Not just in gameplay, it was an in-universe thing. It's partly why the Arbiter armor was such a shameful thing, they explain it's shit out of date shielded armor that no on would use anymore. It was a title of honor among Elites for holy wars until the Prophets shut them down and stripped the title for their own uses. Thus they came into possession of the armor, solidifying the symbol. Brutes are the same way with their armor, so Jerome doesn't have trouble with a couple blue brutes.

Just as precaution, I fired off two rounds into the roof joist near the gable end vent but he must have bugged out while I was getting the ladder and clearing out the closet.

the alternative is looking at better textures/more things happening on screen, at a halved frame rate

right now, i am looking at blotchy mess moving at a silky smooth 50-60 fps in multiplayer, won't count firefight against it in this case.

Do what Gears of War did with a 30fps campaign with all the pretty graphics and then for multiplayer remove all the unnecessary particle effects and whatnot until you have a stable 60

I think that gameplay is more important over visuals. That's not to say that the visuals should suffer as a result, but 343 could have used a better art style and removed some of the chaff.
