StalkerSoup not fun?

If you play the entire game in less than 2 years then you are missing so much. Did you realize in StalkerSoup that each glitch changes after you open up a BugTrap? The Source assets at the cordon are replaced by Low Poly Models. The Blowouts to the east of them are replaced by Freezes. Before Agroprom you have Broken Textures in the hangar near Duty Checkpoint. After that they are replaced by Stack Trace nearby. Just because you open a log and see what's there does not mean that it remains that way through out the whole save. Additionally you are most likely not staying around to activate millions of crashes with unique bugs.

Tweaking time compared to real time

01 minute = 06 seconds, 10 minutes = 60 seconds, 60 minutes ( 1 hour ) = 06 minutes

05 hours = 30 minutes, 10 hours = 1 hour, 12 hours = 1 hour 12 minutes, 24 ( 1 Sun and Moon cycle ) = 2 hours 24 minutes.

48 hours ( 2 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 4 hours 48 minutes, 72 hours ( 3 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 7 hours 12 minutes, 240 hours ( 10 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 24 hours, 720 hours ( 30 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 72 hours,


I usually spend 4320 hours ( 5 years ) in notepad before saving it for the first time to go to Garbage in StalkerSoup. A larger Save is where the A-Life truly becomes messed up, everything is pointless. I haven't gone Outside yet.

IIRC the m_stalker file for stalker npcs has had its claw/melee damage stat boosted to shit so they take hits from mutants like a slap on the wrist, so you may want to look there.

Alternatively there's a high chance someone already did the dirty work, so check around the addons section for CoC on moddb.

At bare minimum, gleaning what I have from dissecting DoctorX's work, it would be doable to just split bounties/assassinations into several different "level" missions each, one being a scrub version that spawns a target within one level changer and below a certain rank, then a mid-tier one further out and a tougher spawn pool, etc etc going further out, and adjusting the rewards per mission sub-type accordingly.

Too clueless to do it myself, just enough to know it can be done.

Installed a fresh copy, then like a dumbfuck spent 30 minutes installing CoM and then wasting my evening on it.

I've been reading the links in the OP + the links on CoC's Moddb page. Anyone have recommendations for a 'maximum content' install? I'm not a very self directed player so I'd like to have objectives to motivate my travels; I realize that sort of defeats the point of CoC. It sounds like most of the storymode/questmod type stuff is broken right now? What's the actual deal with that? I've never had a chance to play CS (just own SoC and CoP haha) so having a faction wars type thing sounds awesome, but I'm not actually sure WHICH mod is closest to that, and whether it is actually updated.

And then just, what's everyone's preferences for CoC addons in general? Any particular favorites to direct my attention to? Small mods that I might miss? Cfg tweaks that will make the game a lot more pleasant to play? Cheers.

Against weakass bandits and mutants its the same as normal ammo.

Now against enemies like Freedom, Monolith, and Military AP ammo will allow you to do more effective damage against them with body shots. I believe it'll stagger them more too, unless stopping power is a completely seperate stat.

In Vanilla SoC AP ammo simply does more damage than the regular rounds when it comes to shooting opponents, whether armored or non-armored.

However, AP ammo does have higher k_pierce values which means higher material penetration (I have actually tested this on the military guy at agroprom who hides in the trailer, shooting at the trailer with regular 5.45x39 rounds does nothing, but you can kill him through that cover with AP rounds.

In CS and CoP the AP rounds actually function better against armor as they're supposed to also.

Not unless they specifically lowered the percent chance of something to be stocked (which I can't imagine they did). Whether or not an item in that pool gets stocked is based on the second number next to an item in the supply section, and has nothing to do with any other item. Like you could have a fuckton of items being stocked if you get good "supply rolls" or few things at all.

To take a value out of vanilla CoC:

wpn_mine = 6, 0.15

This means that when you load a save or zone into the area with that trader, it's going to roll 6 times with a 15% chance to stock a mine. You could get anywhere from 0 to 6 mines stocked.

Pretty much a SEVA suit having more protection against physical damage in exchange for a slight anamoly dip in defense compared to normal SEVA. In practice it turns out to be a nice compromise between armor and anamoly protection, plus it comes with artifact containers galore and built in 2nd gen night vision.

I always wish I could have 3 weapon slots, two primary and a sidearm.

It makes sense to me that you could hold one rifle, shoulder another (or shoulder both), and have a pistol in a holster instead of in your backpack. Maybe make switching between primaries take longer than quickly drawing your sidearm or something?

and hell, for early game, you could just have another pistol in one of your open slots. makarovs are so light weight, in the early stages of most of my games I carry a mak for shooting at trash like rodents and dogs since the ammo is cheap, and a better weapon like a Glock 20 or a revolver for combat with other stalkers.

If you want to "manually" do it. You can go into the trader .ltx files and scroll down to the bottom under supplies_generic and find itm_repairkit_tier_(X). Then mouse over to the corresponding roll amount/chance to roll and set it to 1, 1.

That way whenever you go to said trader they will always roll a tookit of the appropirate grade in their stocks.

Also works for other items too. First number is how many times an item is rolled in their stock generation, and the second is the chance per roll to succeed and have it in their inventory.

A count of 3, .5 means that every time the trader's inventory refreshes, item X will have 3 chances to be stocked at 50% per chance.

Played with AO3 and STCoP via CoM (OWR kept fucking up out of the box) and AO3 definitely felt and sounded a lot better, especially in the shotgun department (some of the sounds in STCoP were just pitiful to the point where I've had sharts more powerful than them, and the inconsistent and thick-ass smoke pluming made some of them a pain to use). Only thing that buggers me about AO3's the Remington 870's vertical pump, some guns not having upgrade data and thus requiring file editing, and the Beowulf .50's ridiculous damage and AP abilities, being several times that of goddamn sniper rifle ammo if I remember correctly.

I am, but STCoP didn't cause any issues with CoM. Almost all my complaints, aside from how easy CoC is, stem from the glitchy surrender system. Enemies just surrender on their own, take my weapon away with a dialog pop up, then just kill me. Or they try to shoot and surrender at the same time causing them to keep firing and missing pretty much point blank.

Do you have the fire dispersion fix for STCoP? I can't remember exactly what value gets changed, but there's a value set to like a thousandeth of what it should be that causes NPCs to miss at point-blank.

I understand that, but there was no system.ltx in the ZRP gamedata/config, and moving system.ltx.original to gamedata/config ended up with it being treated the same, as it didn't recognize it as system.ltx.
I verified the local files on Steam and it said some were missing, it may be misreading where I moved the vanilla Gamedata files to a different location but it's also possible it just botched the download somehow, I'll see if it fixes the issue.

Yeah, that's the one. Money comes REALLY easy in base CoC though (sell monster parts to ecofags, artifacts to beard, ammo to random stalkers), so it's quite reasonable to get Heavy Pockets in a few hours. I couldn't tell you with misery since I only very briefly messed around with CoM 1.0 before there were weapon packs for it.

Also note that in CoC, Heavy Pockets only works if you also belong to the same faction as the merchant. That's another thing that i don't know if misery fixed, but you could check that by looking at the trade files in configs/misc/trade. On the buy_supplies line if you see something like: "{=actor_community(actor_dolg) =heavy_pockets_functor} supplies_heavy_pockets, supplies_generic" that means that your community (faction) is tied to the Heavy Pockets supply table.

Yeah, right now, EVERY single generic NPC profile (of which there are hundreds) has it's own personal weapon spawn list.

The new system coming in breaks loadouts down into a 4-tier system for every faction (bandit_Tier_1, bandit_tier_2, etc), said tiers corresponding to stalker rankings in ascending order of power.

This way, even if you don't like the way the loadout choices and want to customize them, changing them to your liking will take all of 10 minutes now as opposed to 10+ hours.

Low tier artifacts are useless. Sell them without hesitation (or wait if someone gives you a quest to find them).
High tier artifacts are very useful. Goldfish/Flame will give you a lot of physical protection. Flame also stops bleeding very effectively.
Ice is nice. Nice against psy-fuckers. Gives you big psy resistance, increases stamina, but also softens your physical protection and makes the bleeding healing worse. Not recommended to wear it in combat.
Firefly is good too. Slight physical protection, wound healing, but reduces your stamina. If you want to be a walking tank, that is a good choice.

WG isn't laziness, he brought in Alundaio's old dynamic spawn scripts and put in a lot of effort. The distribution is way too conservative is all, the opposite of the complete randomness of the Java code. The original hand distribution still strikes a good balance where you don't get op gear on rookies but can still find the odd good weapon.

Anyone can fix WG really enough if they want to, it's all laid out as configs that the dynamic spawner consumes, but no one here is willing to do the work.

The next patch improves the underlying code and configs a lot but will still require tweaking. So it will probably land up in the same state with complaints and no one willing to step up and tweak it.

Metro was relatively popular wasn't it? It got on all the consoles and got a sequel. Plus it had a lot of the same devs. Don't know why STALKER doesn't enjoy the same mainstream success.

But I do have to say the community is pretty comfy right now, a larger audience would probably cause the "New" games to become bland, through lowest common denominator. But that's also why STALKER 2 has been in purgatory for a while, not enough interest.

I remember there being some way to have it change depending on your outfit but i cant remember if it was CoC or some slavmod
