Misery not fun?

If you play the entire game in less than 2 years then you are missing so much. Did you realize in Misery that each level changes after you open up a new areas? The Dogs at the sawmill are replaced by Pseudodogs. The Bandits to the east of them are replaced by Bandits. Before Jupiter you have Modders in the ranger station near skadovsk. After that they are replaced by a Bear cave nearby. Just because you open an area and see what's there does not mean that it remains that way through out the whole game. Additionally you are most likely not staying around to activate millions of stashes with the same unique items.

Game time compared to neet time

01 minute = 06 seconds, 10 minutes = 60 seconds, 60 minutes ( 1 hour ) = 06 minutes

05 hours = 30 minutes, 10 hours = 1 hour, 12 hours = 1 hour 12 minutes, 24 ( 1 Sun and Moon cycle ) = 2 hours 24 minutes.

48 hours ( 2 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 4 hours 48 minutes, 72 hours ( 3 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 7 hours 12 minutes, 240 hours ( 10 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 24 hours, 720 hours ( 30 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 72 hours,


I usually spend 8640 hours ( 10 years ) in Zaton before leaving it for the first time to go to Jupiter in Misery. A longer Game is where the A-Life truly becomes alive, everything is open ended. I haven't gone to Pripyat yet.

Been trying out SGM 2.2.

I could put up with the broken missions early on o.k. And im used to it being buggy as fuck (which mod isnt).

But after completing cordon & the marshes, the game crashes every time I try leave the marshes for Zaton. Anyone else had this problem? Think i might just write off this mod & start a more stable one.

Which is the best mod with extra maps/guns now? its been a while since ive checked up on stalker.

ok so i looked at all 5.xx GB with agent ransack
and only see 3 references to af_kashtan in
gamedata\configs\misc\trade\
trade_generic.ltx
trade_jup_b202_stalker_barmen.ltx
trade_zat_b30_stalker_trader.ltx

but that shouldnt cause a ctd
so for shits and giggles i installed it and used the zaton start

got to zaton, left to cordon and back again through the level changer to talk to owl/banker at skaovsk. loaded a dozen or so quicksaves.
no crashing.

so you can try removing those entries from the trader files, but like i said that shouldnt be causing the CTD.

i'd just delete gamedata and try a re-install. then delete those entries in the trader files just in case.

I deleted gamedata & re extracted sgm 2.2 then deleted the entries from the trader files.
Seems to work transitioning from marshes to zaton. Definitely one of the stranger crashes ive had, least its working o.k now, thanks anon.

Just shoot at it till it dies.

I would barrow any guns with decent damage dropped by dead enemies. That way you don't have to waste all your main ammo and weapon condition on killing the helicopter. The fight shouldn't be too difficult as long as you're not surrounded.

Ok im playing COM and I hate how often my character has to eat, and how carrying less than the max carry weight still causes me to lose stamina even when just walking.

Does anyone know how to edit the files to reduce the need to eat and the carry weight issue?

Also maybe I'm asking the wrong question, I don't mind the carry weight, Its like 55kg+ with decent gear on. But stamina seems to drain very quickly even when under max carry weight.

Like why the fuck does walking when you're at 28/55kg cause your stamina to decrease. Do you know how to fix this?

So I'm in actor.Itx and I see

So by the sounds of it "force" is stamina and walk_power is the drain on stamina when carrying 0kg.

And walk_weight_power means the rate at which my stamina decreases if I'm at max weight.

So how do I change it so that being at say 1/2 carry weight doesn't reduce my stamina? Would my stamina reduction be 1/2 of walk_weight_power at 1/2 carry cap?

Also how do I see the rate at which my stamina replenishes? Is it satiety_v = 0.0000195?

One is how much you can carry before being burdened (can't run) and one is how.mich you can carry total. I found two Goldfish, which could bring my max carry to 140. I'd have to change the one that is the cut off point for burden to 140, then add 20 to the limit to cut off walking altogether.

i played stalker to death on release, then many, many times with AMK and oblivion lost mods. Kinda got worn out before stalker soup came out. I really wanted to play the unreleased dev maps but at the time SS was a pile of shit. (from what i hear it never got good)

I came back for call of pripyat when the SGM mods were out then did multiple runs of those and misery. Ive grown tired of the main 3 maps in CoP.

right now i'm looking foward to a remixed SoC mod with old & new maps & more guns & mutants, which seems to be what CoC is.

I disagree. Misery is a well-designed, interesting and fun to play mod. It makes the progression longer, more self-sustainable and considerably increases risk-reward actions. You have to gather information before engaging in combat, you have to calculate amount of stuff in your disposition and I didn't find it boring at any point of time during my playthrough.

Boars are spongy if you hit them in the front and pseudogiants/chimeras are as spongy as they should be to make explosives in higher demand. They have weak points close to their back legs. Reduce the HP of all humans/mutants and the game will be a cakewalk in that aspect.

Mutants pose a significant threat, especially because ammo is scarce and sometimes you can even encounter zombies or burers on the Cordon outskirts. Pseudodogs need two direct buckshot hits to be put down, so it's not bad, I guess.

What the hell is there to do in CoC? Played it with different factions for the sake of nostalgia for a while exploring the old areas, but it got old pretty fast. The missions are all copy'n'paste, getting money is way too easy and there's not that much to do in the end.

Tried with the iron meme-mode. It spiced things up a little bit, but even it couldn't keep my interest up.

Tried to restart the game, tried to create a new save, tried to enable the hud from the console, nothing works. I can enable the crosshair, the gun and all that, but the hud is gone.

Honestly, I say try it out like that, even if just for a while. ZoA started me out on the no-hud experience and haven't looked back since. On AA now, and still get some indicators like hunger, weapon durability or load carried but besides hunger, that ain't listed anywhere else, could make do without the others without any problems. Just find it a lot more immersive this way. To each their own though.

Fire mode I usually test out but throwing a few shots out, but I can agree a small notification icon could be useful. Manage with the other two easily enough. Already know about how much I can sprint and what my cooldown is by simply playing and manage like that, as for the ammo type, I change it twice and see which ammo from the inventory decreases to see what I've got on. Might sound like a pain, but prep this before going out to do shit so more often than not know what kind of ammo I've got on the barrel.

I'm really enjoying vanilla stalker SOC v1.006.
Iv only done the first mission but iv heard the game has lots of bugs, and that I should mod it.

From what iv seen all the mods that fix bugs also want to mess with the textures, make it HD, all that crap.

I grew up with this style of graphics and I prefer it over the ULTRA HD gray and brown screenshots iv seen.

Poopsuits are almost always for sale from the military trader at aggropom, but you have to be a milfag to have access to that. ZoA's still my favorite mode to this day, though as >>166718389 mentioned it will crash out of anything. Have also had it corrupt saves so there's also that. If you do try it though, my advice is a speed run, that way you have a chance at finishing it. Once you learn how the magazine system works, go for main quests mostly. Weapons are aplenty so even a speed run will wield something fun to use. It's not really an anti-cheat, per se, it's just if actor.ltx is loaded outside the gamedata folder, the game shits the bed and crashes, and if you modify your jump height, you get a "cheater" achievement, but both effects can be 100% removed in like 10 seconds.

To stop it from shitting the bed if actor.ltx is found in the gamedata folder, just comment out this line in amk.script: xrs_utils.getStartTime(StartTime)

And to stop the anti-jump mod check, just comment out the two has_cheated lines in bind_stalker.

What are some must-use mods for Call of Chernobyl? I'm already using the texture mods and Arsenal Overhaul 3.1. I haven't played Stalker in a while and heard this mod was really good, but while the idea of having the entire zone to explore is exciting, I'm getting some severe issues that really damage my game:
1. I see no roaming stalkers WHATSOEVER. Populated places are populated, but I have yet to see a single group of loners or bandits roaming the land. I've only been to Yanov and Zaton but this doesn't seem right at all.
2. In addition to there being no roaming stalkers, there are a metric fuck-ton of mutants. I can't walk 500 meters without encountering a psuedogiant, a pack of psuedodogs, or a controller, and just about everything else too. It feels more like a map full of monsters than the actual zone with sensible wildlife. They also seem to respawn very quickly.
There is also an ugly amount of zombies. At first I thought maybe I accidentally enabled the zombie survival game mode but since there are traders and hubs and all, I don't think that's the case.

Can my fellow Stalkerbros help a stalker out with this?

What is the function that controls the size of mutants? In JP2 we have random gigantic mutants, like boars that are half the size, up to ~4x the size. I don't think they're separate creatures.

Yeah though the faction control system was a left in a bit of a poor state when I got really busy for a while. I'm back now though, off the project that made me super busy, got a promotion and shit so i'm actually programming and have free time.


Also for people in general, weaponsoup is dead in the sense that it won't be released in the same way. I'm in the process of porting over kalis ak pack, which was based on heffy's aks that I always say I love. Have all textures set up and everything so importing is a smooth process where I just load the .object in actor editor, apply an animation and export. Also coding a utility which will read in a sort of template ltx file and output, into a specified folder, various permutations of that weapon. So, for instance, to setup the configuration file for all variations of an ak with 16 scopes (probably gonna cut it down to 14 tho). Right now the plum ak74 is about done, the wood ak74 is next, then the wood + plum akm and slowly I'll finish more and more weapons. May just have a repo of sorts so people can download it as its being worked on. Just focus on one weapon at a time kinda shit.

My plan WAS to have all kinds of magazines attachable to all ak variants they fit with, tho I'm putting that on the back burner for a short period of time. Just going to get the actual ak pack finished with all the optics first without having anything too crazy.

So I made it to the second level of SoC and decided to installing ZRP. Did not notice a real difference besides the clock.

Made it to the third level, and there are artifacts literally everywhere. I ignored the stalkers fighting the soldiers and picked up 7 within the first few minutes of entering the level.

I thought this mod was just suppose to fix bugs.

I don't know if it's just me, but the acog looks like someone took a hunk of play-doh, molded it into a vaguely acog-ish shape, and then panted it. It looks really fake and out of place, especially on the nicer weapon models. The SR25 has that offputting play-doh look as well.

Also I'm not sure how reasonable would be to fix something like this, but holy shit does it trigger my autism when there's optics installed without risers, and the flip sights are left up. The acog on this M4 would be completely unusable, for example.

Why difficult mods just love wasting the player's time? Is it so hard to drop some of the meme shit, and actually leaving the core difficulty? Misery's radiation system is fine, and so are the stats of the enemies, and hunger/gear management. The problem is the fucked up artificial scarcity. Everything costs too much, sells for nothing, all stashes are worthless, enemies drop nothing, mutants are bullet sponges just to waste your ammo. None of this shit is hard, it's just ridiculously time consuming. A lot of fucking modders, jot just slavshit or Stalker modding, but in general, just have absolutely no respect for the player's time, and build their mod to hog as much of it as possible.

im on my first coc playthrough and enjoying it so far. still in early missions in cordon, seems fun, not too sure how that will pan out later, with the arsenol mod im using a lot of guns i never really tried in other mods, running round with a bandit jacket only has been fun, if it gets too easy later i'll switch mods

CoC is a StalkerSoup's retarded brother. It has a shitton of ridiculously nonsensical things (e.g. Forester upgrading all the gear, Vasiliev on Yantar) and manages to be popular, while being a buggy piece of shit and having just a handful of small addons. Even shitty Lost Alpha is more successful as a platform for mods.
