It's because hitscan weapons are far more precise with no blast radius. Meanwhile grenadier weapons have plenty of big ol hitboxes and explosions well suited to mopping up slows.

People shit on Volt a lot but I think it's pretty rewarding to use while going fast and spider-manning around. There's like 0 spread so you have to have really good aim to perform well with it.

Of course, it becomes an issue when people camp with it. I think it should have its effective range cut a lot shorter and it would be a balanced weapon.

The embark shit's not that bad, even with phase embark it's still not viable in combat. Bugged duration only affects consoles, although it's still pretty bad. Every bullet doing ten gorillion splash damage is game breaking. It's much more important that that bug gets fixed.

It won't affect the player you're trying to kill, but since splash damage also affects the player who fired it if you're close enough, you can instagib your own titan in close quarters.

Honestly though, it doesn't really matter what you do. Legion is unplayable when every pub Ion gets on your ass immediately.

Legion IS the tankiest titan, so you can take a bit of punishment. You don't want to be the titan everyone is looking at, because you have no mobility, so the way I like to play him is to sprint around and molest people from behind with the best sustainable DPS in the game.

Dash is mandatory on Legion and Scorch in my opinion. You need dashes to use cover effectively, since you can't really strafe that well. Without Dash you will be completely outplayed by any Tone, Northstar, Ronin, or Ion.

Enhanced payload for cluster missiles is pretty great and has loadsadamage potential, but if you're the kind of shitter that tunnel visions easily like me then threat optics is a god send with how well it highlights all the little pilots running around

Upgraded Clusters are good for clearing A.I. or inside of buildings if Pilots are inside. Viper Thrusters have some use but if you're standing still and start flying you won't go fast, you need to be running or use a boost before flying to actually fly fast even with Viper Thrusters. I mostly use it when I want to fly quickly above an enemy when using Flight Core. Also Flight Core is a last stand type of thing. Only use it when you have no other choice. Some other poster on here likes to say that Threat Optics and Double Electric Smoke is popular but in all my play time not once have I seen a Northstar use this tactic. I'm guessing because he likes it so much he says it's popular. But how it works is you use the Electric Smoke, back out of it a little so enemies can't see you and Threat Optics Allows you to see through the smoke and shoot others easily. You can lay out a max of 4 Tether Traps at a time and placing a 5th will destroy the first one and so on. Some posters here say to try and use the Double Tether Trap kit and throw it at an enemy who is close when you know you're about to be doomed then mash eject and have Nuclear Eject to trap them and kill them.

I don't think anyone here claimed the Smoke + Optics trick is popular. Hell it would be hard to argue that Northstar is popular when she is arguably outshown by other titans. But it is an incredibly good tool for surviviability if you think you're about to trade in a fight.

I haven't noticed a dash during the Reflex phase, you just pop into the shadow realm as soon as your doomed.
This is handy because you can safely position yourself and start the self destruct sequence largely unseen.
Netting kills after the fact gets the titan back immediately.
Warp, rinse, repeat!

Hardcover is shit, amped wall isn't.
More specifically: Amped Wall increases the damage of shots that you put through it, is a tactical ability with a fairly quick cool down, and is literally invincible. Hardcover is literally none of those things and instead wastes a boost slot.

There isn't a specific window to shoot through an A-wall, and the Wingman Elite can also pierce it. The wall can be pierced at any time, but only sometimes, and only with fast-moving projectiles. Anon who posted before. Visor lights up and you can also actually see through it. Slide-rail mounted tac-light and laser "sight" both also work and are adjustable. The antennae light also works, but it mostly just lights itself up. Doesn't project much. And the whole helmet is pretty roomy, with adjustable internal straps for fitting. Whole thing also comes with a scarf, two velcro patches, a nifty pair of dogtags with hidden 8gb flashdrive, and one of the more serious notepads I've seen. It's all metal with a locking system that uses the pen to keep it shut. I feel like I got my money's worth.

any tips on, well, basically where to go during a game of attrition/BH or PvP? at the start of the match for instance, do you generally stick with your team, or try to flank?
i know a lot of this depends on the map and where the enemy team tends to go, and on some maps i know a few good places to start off and attack(like the rocky ridge on homestead). for others i am still kind of lost even after 130 hours playing.
im also finding that if my team is stuck in a chokepoke fighting the enemy team, and i try to flank i usually get no support from my team and then its kind of a gamble on whether or not ill succeed. usually ill run into at least 1 other pilot thinking the same thing as me, sometimes 2 in which case i just failed and let my team down.
tl:dr: how do i learn proper attack routes and when to and when not to stick with my team or flank? (as a pilot)

It does though, even more so than in Tribes. Regular Spinfusors inherit only a small portion of your speed; projectiles in TiF2 inherit all of it. If you're moving at high speed, your EPG shots will keep moving in that direction and at that speed (the vectors combine), which is why you need to lead even if your enemy isn't moving and you are. That's also why the L-STAR is so awkward to use; your projectiles fly all over the place when you're moving.

The vast majority of projectile weapons do not have splash.
L-STAR has no splash. Its damage is also lower than any AR, SMG and LMG.
Kraber and Double Take have no splash. They don't come close to the ease of use, firing speed and lethality of the DMR.
Mastiff and Mozambique have no splash. They are weaker and slower firing than the EVA.

SMR has a splash radius of one foot, and splash damage of 15 at one inch, 1 at one foot. It is virtually impossible to actually have its almost-nothing splash damage hit without a direct hit.
EPG's splash requires a minimum of three almost-dead on environment hits for splash to be lethal. Otherwise its tiny blast radius is going to need three or more explosions.
Cold War needs more than one burst to get a kill if none of the projectiles were a direct hit.

The only splash damage weapon with close to lethal but not "instakill" is the Softball with a 3m radius and a 90-to-1 damage in that radius. Only a direct hit could be a one hit kill.
