How does life is strange's ending compare to fallout 3's pre-dlc ending in terms of stupidity?

(Fallout 3 ended with the player choosing to either sacrifice themselves or the heroic npc lady to activate a plot device in a high radiation area. You were either a hero or a coward. The only problem was it was possible to bring along party members who were literally immune to radiation. Suggesting one of them go in instead generated refusals on the grounds that this was "your destiny" or similar.)

Fallout 3's ending makes just as little sense as Fallout 3 as a whole. The basic aspects of the game world around which everything in the story is built, are all inconsistent nonsense that isn't even lore-friendly.

Yes, but even in the base game there was an option to ask your companion Fawks to activate project purity for you. Fawks is a super mutant and therefor immune to radiation. The game even explicitly tells you he is immune to radiation in a plot point during the main quest. Yet he decides he would rather let you die that deny you your 'destiny'. Nothing about his character up until this point suggests he would ever do this.

To be fair LiS doesn't follow it's own rules very well either. The time travel is nonsensical and the characters often act in extremely convenient ways for the plot.

Ultimately I think Fallout 3's ending fails more on a mechanical level. As an open world RPG there really shouldn't have been an end to the gameplay loop just because the main quest was resolved.

LiS fails more on a narrative level for obvious reasons. I would say Fallout 3's ending is more detrimental to the game as a whole. Though the ending to LiS is more nonsensical.

TL;DR
Fallout 3=worse ending within the context of the games core mechanics.

The best we could have hoped for is some Mass Effect 3 "Directors Cut" (*shudders at the thought*) where Warren goes fucking Bill Nye the science guy on Max. He would even start talking with a French accent and smoking a cigarette. His hairline receding and gaining shades of red the more he explained how 'chaos theory' is the only rational explanation for Max's situation. "It's really kind of poetic and beautiful if you think about it Max, like some tragically underrated love story." They say you can't polish a turd so I think things may have been better off left alone. Unless of course the entirety of episode 5 was rewritten but that was never going to happen.

Am I the only one hyped for Vampyr? Not in the game itself but in finding LiS easter eggs.

I enjoy listening to the soundtracks, specifically game soundtracks. As much as I like Spotify, a lot of good tracks aren't included in the official OST releases so the only way to get them is to torrent a gamerip or Youtube.
Thinking of building a small OST collection, starting with LiS. Is Google Music safe to upload "pirated" content? Can they delete/block some tracks or they don't care about user uploads?

If Chloe is in a coma then Max will sit by Chloe's side until she wakes up. even if it takes days. The whole time offering Chloe words of love and encouragement that she hears in her sleep. Eventually Chloe pulls through and wakes up with the first thing she sees being Max's smiling face and teary eyes.
Basically ripping off 'The Sting' episode from Futurama, but who cares? It was great.

There is little conclusive evidence of who dies in the storm because the devs were too stupid to show the consequences of anything. Which easily allows the player to form the conclusion of "Well that wasn't so bad", and they would be entirely justified to think that because the damage shown in game was definitely not that of an EF-5 tornado.

There's no guarantee. Kate would likely still be depressed over what happened.
Another concern would be Nathan getting out of trouble because I could see ways lawyers could get him off the hook.
Then there's what happens to those that loved Chloe; Max, Joyce, David. Maybe even Frank.

The Bay ending is just not beneficial to anyone. The only thing it avoids is a storm that could come at any point in the future (With or without supernatural elements).

It's basically Chloe's LiS in a nutshell: a long-yearned-for kindness enters her life unexpectedly, she doesn't know how exactly to handle it in the beginning, but she lets it happen, can't but let it happen, knows she wants it, falls into it, opens up, quickly accepting and embracing, smiling, laughing, beaming, playing, trusting, confiding, being happy, loving. Healing through this connection and through the experiences - some certainly tough experiences: the dog visiting the doctor - a scary and distressful event, but ultimately for its good; analogously, finding out about Rachel, the associated grief and rage, but ultimately cathartic; realizing, overcoming, knowing where she stands, who she is, what she wants, healing to an extent where she embraces life again with joy even in the face of tragedy, and is unconditionally loyal to her Maxter just how her Maxter is to her - ending, of course, together in the car.

I also see Chloe like a shark: To many she is frightening due to her looks. Appearing like she will hurt you, and she will. If you provoke her. So many just stay away entirely.
But she also has a beauty to her that some can recognize and appreciate.
As long as you understand her, and don't get too close to appear threatening, you won't get hurt. Plus sharks live in the ocean and can go wherever they want whenever they want, which is a major part of what Chloe wanted. And she likes to swim.

I kind of feel the opposite; I wouldn't say that Maximum Victory is a favorite of mine but I do like seeing Victoria's feelings for Max as something tsundere-like and heavily repressed because she has to keep up her image. Makes for a pretty fun dynamic, especially when you consider how naive Max is. On the other hand, ChaseMarsh kind of rubs me the wrong way because of how Victoria treated Kate and while I definitely want a good friendship between them based on communication and genuine good intent, I think Kate should be with someone who has always known how to appreciate her.

There is an interesting dynamic there for Max and Victoria just by virtue of the general type of characters they are, and based on some in-game interactions and character specifics too. It is romantically intriguing.

But I for one just cannot indulge in "shipping" anymore. It feels like a violation of the true romance and true love, which in the game there is only one of. However acquired a taste "Maximum Victory" typically (as in: that type of relationship) is, I just can't "abuse" these characters for it. At least not anymore; whereas I used to read Max/Vic fanfiction semi-regularly, I pretty much skip out on anything non-Pricefield now (and don't read much fanfiction altogether anymore, as a lot of it just doesn't see the characters like I do - or captures them/the game sufficiently, for that matter).

I'm just too... hm, it's not really emotional investment, not primarily anyway - maybe romantically invested? Either way, too invested in Max and Chloe's "real" relationship to entertain the thought of pairing them up outside of each other, even if it is for the leisure and pleasure of it. I can't "love" their love for each other and appreciate the writing and characterization of it in so many facets and ways only to then go ahead and say "they are not real, might as well use them however it so pleases me". Same goes for any type of "abuse" in general - not only romantical abuse, but emotional, psychological, let alone physical or sexual. Even just mis-portrayals - fictional or otherwise, of narrative or characters - I rather steer clear of, although I know that's partly to do with personal dissonance.

In a sense and on a level, these types of portrayals just are a real betrayal and abuse - which is tolerable and with most of any other narrative I'd welcome fictionally (ab)using it if it serves a purpose I deem worthwhile (which can range from intellectual, emotional, sentimental, romantical etc. to outright sexual satisfaction), but not LiS.

While Max has seen and learned of his good intentions, talked with him more civilly on more than one occasion and should have thus been looking to cooperate with him and mediate between him and Chloe earlier (like in that Episode 3 scene), they do cooperate and mediate a little at the end where Max tells Chloe that David saved her and cares about them, and then obviously going to him for help with the Dark Room stuff.

The problem is that this happens off-screen, so Chloe's eventual "step...-father" does not feel particularly well-established. Not least because she really shouldn't come to accept him that easily, as you say.

That all said, I don't see that "even make him a halfway decent person" thing. His behaviour throughout does let show plently decency (in the circumstantial and environmental story-telling, but also in some of those more civil conversations with him) and his intentions are consistent. He does have legit mental health and behaviouristic issues and will have to address them professionally. We see him come to similar conclusions himself, seeing the flaws in some of his ways when confronted with the reality that his investigation was mis-guided both in suspects and methods and that he had failed the people in his life. He is not the most intelligent or emotionally intelligent person, straight-up childish at times, but he is also a man that does care deeply and is willing to, and I'm sure will, better himself.

1. It was not something he planned to get through to her. He has anger problems to an extent where he can lose his cool and exert physical violence against a young girl.
2. We never see him try to speak calmly and understandingly with Chloe. It is not like he was the reasonable one and she sabotaged their relationship to where he had to try the "tough route". He was an overly strict, insensitive douche from pretty much the get-go, as we learn. Which is not at all to say Chloe does not do her part of being shitty (the gun definitely being the extreme of that), but she is an emotionally troubled young girl. He is supposed to be an adult, a step-father entering a family with a young child that had suffered tragic loss. It was on him to see and deal with those problems and look at himself, that he was not fit with his own problems to be that step-father in that state.
3. He does not only physically attack her. He hassles Kate, physically intimidating her. And he physically intimidates Max, as well as actually shoving her roughly against a wall in Chloe's room, getting physical to an extent where Chloe has to physically step in and pull him off of her.

I am not saying he is a bad person. But he is not a great guy and needs to realize he has to change and seek professional help if he wants to have that family. Caring only goes so far.

Yeah, painting David as the one that only tried to get through to Chloe is just pretty disingenuous. He introduces a lot of hostility into that relationship all on his own and is pettily childish, getting very aggressive and bitterly calling Chloe a loser. He is not (only) the desperate caring father figure trying by all means to get through to his misguided step-daughter. He is a flawed, mentally unwell character himself, and as an adult should see that and be the one to seek to better himself first and foremost, and not act like Chloe is the root and cause of the problem in their household.

Stealing the gun, David has my symapthy that he would be aggressively trying to get it back (not violently though, and again, that was an impulsive thing, indicative of anger issues more so than a controlled measure to try and get through to Chloe). But apart from that, Chloe is as Max says no danger to him. He had no reason to be a step-führer but his own strict, authoritative military complex and doucheyness. It was obviously not helping and still he kept it up, clearly showing that that is his actual personality and not merely one way he tried to get through to her with. He never spoke calmly and understandingly with her, sitting down and listening to her problems. Always confrontative and accusatory in tone.

We know he is better than that, and his behaviour is not his personality through-and-through; he has suffered psychological trauma himself and needs professional help, a process in which he could also embrace his softer, caring and sensitive sides more that we see in the Dark Room and show them to the people around him other than Joyce.

Are you serious? A 13/14 year-old girl that had lost her father tragically and now got a step-parent - something always problematic for the child - had to "meet him half way"?! Again, we have no reason to believe he ever tried to be gentle and sensitive with her. The narrative very clearly shows that he was always strict and authoritative. He, as an adult, could have very much looked at himself and tried to make that relationship work better than it did.

I think a lot of my love for David comes from enjoying characters similar to him. The pissed off old ex military white dude is favorite trope of mine. Especially when they are portrayed as being very flawed. D-Fens, Harry Brown, every other Clint Eastwood movie. I also have severe lack of sensitivity, so saw a lot of his more 'problematic' actions seem pretty inconsequential. But hey, different strokes. David's just the kinda guy I'd like to get a beer with and complain about stupid millennials. Maybe ask him to tell me some war stories. Sorry for any uncomfy feels.

It just kinda wouldn't be. Like the core gameplay mechanics would have to be entirely re-done to be more "gamey". Something similar to bully I would imagine. I mean LiS is pretty much a glorified point and click adventure game, Rockstar would never green light that. There would be a focus on cultural detritus that would come across as awkward at best. Kate would be a religious nut trying to stick Chasity belts on everyone. Frank would probably give you missions. Alyssa would be a full on SJW so the game could poke fun at that. I'm not really convinced Rockstar would know what to do with a female protagonist. Let alone Max. You'd probably play as a more Chloe-esque rebellious protagonist. The whole storm thing would be done away with. It would pretty much just be bully with a qt female protagonist, a snarky-er tone and a small degree of role playing. Basically it would be the best game ever because Bully's pretty much the best game ever.

Well, surely not all, and I know you are not really all too serious, but I am convinced (and it is just a fact of reality) that nobody could have created LiS but dontnod. Because they did. And while there are flaws - some minor, some more major - and things to be improved upon, overall it is something masterfully unique and the video game world has repeatedly acknowledged as much both in terms of commercial success and awards handed to them for it.

I would never want anyone else to touch LiS. I actually dislike severely that dj2/Legendary is making a live-action spin-off and that dontnod has some influence on that is the only sliver of hope I see for it, as strange as it sounds. I owe above all gratitude to dontnod for creating this experience and these characters. All my disapproval of things they've done with that is secondary at most.

This. Rockstar does subtly like an atom bomb lights a cigarette. Having recently played Gone Home I can see how LiS could have been far worse in the hands of a different developer. Really what I look for in a game is moments, things like the outro in episode 1, listening to Lua in bed with Chloe in episode 3. I'll remember moments like that for the rest of my life, even if the game never came together as a whole. I can scarcely remember any moments like that in a Rockstar title. Though I remember many Rockstar games fondly I only vaguely remember any specific moments from the games.
