I'm glad to announce that the latest version of the CK2 mod ''Western Europe 410-962 - The Winter King'', version 1.4.1, has finally been released! This release solves many bugs which have been around since the latest release, as well as a huge new character name list for the Gallo-Romans (look it up in the files, it is gargantuan), and some smaller fixes for Roman players desiring to conquer Ireland and Scotland (or Hibernia and Caledonia, if you prefer the Emperor's Latin).

Never stated in any form that I don't like eu4's AI... this conversation started from asking if fort mechanics used to "fix" the AI were removed yet. That's literally the only thing I've stated about eu4's AI in this whole discussion.

There doesn't need to be a fix for the AI not using forts properly because it usually doesn't drastically affect gameplay, but there shouldn't be unfair advantages like zero maintenance border forts given to AI countries only to "fix" the problem. A fair solution is necessary if a solution is implemented

Well finished CK2. All in all, a weird fucking run which I guess is normal but the map is set.

I kinda agree V2 research points are mana - "magical" and poorly justified.

However, having a mana system isn't bad by itself, we need some kind of resource to create scarcity.

Sticking to EU4, the problem isn't having the paper, bird and sword mana system, but being used for every fucking thing, and its generation being for most part uncontrollable. This makes an interesting historical simulator, but poor gameplay.

Dunno if here or in paradox forums, but I've read an idea about making the mana "catalyzes" stuff... as in, you'd either wait X years to get a core or just spend mana to speed it up. I like the idea.

Wouldn't it make sense for them to wait WHILE you're reorganizing and thus vulnerable? That's how I got declared war on a lot later on in CK2. Vassals would wait until something weakened me just enough to push their factions or other nations would take their chance.

It's why once Rome was fully upgraded and I was rolling in cash I just basically used exclusively mercenaries. The actual legions being raised usually meant something had gone horribly wrong and my back was to the wall.

Is there any way in vic2 to fix the odd soldier pop mechanics? The ones that makes the ottomans shit at being able to field regiments like how you can make a brigade from 3000 turkish pops but not from 1500 turks and 1500 bulgarians in a province?

Ill agree that China had nothing on the morale of the troops, you hear nothing but cowardice from their stories so its probably much worst IRL, but they invented the printing press among other things back in the 8th century, their tech wasnt that bad. Tactics were weird so at the start there wouldnt be that much of an advantage, while numbers would be huge, I mean they would regularly have million man wars in China, how would the west compete?
