if you're basing whatever answer you get on how much experience individual units have, I don't believe that's the actual amount they need to upgrade. Last battle it said 4000 experience shared yet I could upgrade 4 swadian men-at-arms, but it says "next level at:" in about 10000 for them.

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm hoping someone with modding experience might be able to answer it. Why does Morghs list every town, castle and village as neutral under the Faction tab? I assumed parties.txt was how the game recognized which settlements belonged to which faction, but it seems like that isn't true.

How does m&b know which location belongs to which faction if they're all listed as neutral?

Most Lord and Guildmaster quests tend to be sub-optimal and most importantly annoying as fuck anyways. I have spent over 30 minutes in some mods looking for hunting down random losers for Lords.

Scotland has been in a permanent war with Norway and the Gaelic sub-humans. There is no way they are going to survive this constant onslaught with me still being a ~600 renown Mercenary. Especially when I somehow have the strongest force in the entire kingdom now. Multi-faction wars are tough in 1257AD.

So, I'm leading a mixed infantry group on foot against an enemy shieldwall. Half my men have shields, the other half do not. The enemy has heavy infantry and crossbows.
Do I attack in a wide line, or group them tightly together?

Your garrisons are probably super weak. AI normally doesn't pester strongly held (i.e. at least 100 troops) castles.If you have like 120 units in the garrison and they're pretty strong, T3 minimum, generally you won't see your castles besieged unless it's by a pretty sizable army, and in that case they usually won't run away from you if you approach.

If I am wiping out a faction I will frequently dismiss all prisoners immediately after destroying their last castle/town (their last faction Lord spawn point essentially) to minimize the possibility of the game bugging out and never respawning their lords.

I have lost some of those diehard loyalist Lords because of this in the past. Not really something I can test easily though due to playing a realistic saves.

I really had to pull out every trick in the book due to how shit Scotland is right now. A low renown Merc shouldn't be able to feasibly solo the entire kingdom on the field in 1257AD of all mods.

Need to keep as many factions alive as possible to maximize distractions for when I begin my own kingdom. That said after 100 days I still have zero RTR since factions never seem to declare peace in this mod.

I typically try to do that but Scotland is doing so badly right now that I can't take my eyes off them for a second. It doesn't help that they lost all of their towns - So I need to travel to England to reach the nearest friendly town. So basically the quickest way I can boost my numbers is the best ATM. Thats strange -- I recall villages converting pretty rapidly. "Couple of weeks" sounds a bit excessive to me. All the same there is little point in customizing troops you cannot use/recruit.

Part of the problem with this fort layout is that the gate actually protects the invaders from flanking fire and many of the archers will draw melee weapons due to close proximity of enemy melee even if there is a wall blocking them.

Furthermore due to the angle -- Typically archers will be firing from a vector that allows full shield coverage versus an actual flank.

So basically if you use the fotifications as intended it becomes some retarded brawl within the gate that becomes a pure battle of attrition (which invaders will typically win due to higher troop numbers)

Might be more effective to not even bother with the gate and try to set up a death zone within the walls itself. Basically infantry to left of gate, ranged further away and to right of gate. Cross fingers and hope for the best.

As far as I am aware it is Tocans, S.Mayo, PoP, and WFaS. If you have naturally created a player faction (implying many hours of play) I recommend sticking with it since villages converting to your faction should be inevitable. If it is a bug I would be surprised if it persisted even after expansion.

And if you haven't experienced it in any other mod Dark Knight invasion is good fun too.
