The skill ceiling is virtually uncapped. The biggest mistake you can make is to think this game is shallow.

There are complex tricks on every character, tricks related to a large set of maps with half of them split between attack/defend that stage through multiple areas and checkpoints, complex tricks related to 720 different possible character combinations and the ability to swap between characters throughout a match. I'm not even talking about player execution of the basics of aim and movement- which if you watch

This game will be the biggest esport of the decade in a years time. Blizzard is probably working very hard on a proper spectate system, which is the biggest holdup in what has already gathered hundreds of thousands of viewers in a short time. In addition Blizzard will most likely work in an in-game portal to major tournament streams, the game's esport success will be on lock-down.

And people will want to watch it. Just count the points it has going for it. It's a strong team game- always significant over solo games. The characters are lovable and memorable and people pick out favorites and get excited about it. Matches are complex and unpredictable and surprising with so many possibilities. The objectives of a match are simple, but the competition scoring system and use of mechanics like carryover time and overtime give the game quite a level of intensity. The match isn't over until it's over, comebacks happen. Finally, it isn't just about winning- it's about styling on your opponent when you do so- (One of the reason competition in games like Smash Bros. gets so popular with fraction of the the effort of Dota 2, where many viewers struggle to understand the full impact of most plays), and Overwatch has that potential in excess.

One question, why isn't there a visual notification of how many health you have left?
I play a lot of Tracer and I always mistake most of the damage i take as chip damage when i only have like <80hp left.

There are a few things that help with Deadeyes. One is simply to try and come from an unexpected angle, if you flank the enemies you can often get your kills before they turn around and realize you're behind them.

Another thing I like to do is actually Q while hidden in cover, and then slowly walk out. That way, even if they check your location, they won't see you and will look elsewhere. You can even do tricky stuff like dropping off a ledge with it active, which makes it really hard for them to find and then kill you before you shoot.

The only time you could take advantage of it at will if you're all wounded and line up for her to heal you tactically, something she can already do fast with the nade/shoot combo. And doing this deliberately would just mean you're staying back more and putting yourself in danger/grouping for aoes

You could diminish the heal on pierce a bit if you really it'd be that crazy, but I can tell you now the coordination to make use of this is not something you would see a lot.

I definitely agree with you on that last bit. It's very obvious Overwatch was designed with the intention of it being a flashy spectator sport. That's my main critique, though - Blizzard is focusing quite heavily on making the game accessible for casual gamers. Which is fine, but I think if they focused on mechanics instead (i.e., punishing gameplay) it'd offer up a more compelling and complex metagame.

Of course, I'm speaking from the perspective of a Dota 2 fan. I love jerking off to TI every year and pretending that makes me an intellectual gamer.

Her fire rate is 1 round per second.
She heals 75 per shot, so she has the highest heal rate in the game.
She deals 80 damage per shot. With a Zenyatta orb of discord, she can drop any 200 hp target in seconds(technically the target dies in ~2 seconds because her shots deal damage over 1 second). (Zenyatta is the best second healer to pair with).

Her Biotic grenade double the amount of healing a target receives, and heals for 100. She already has the highest heal rate in the game, but she can double that for 5 seconds out of 10, in addition to doubling things like Orb of Harmony from 30 hps to 60 hps, or healing two tanks at once by having a Roadhog self-heal for twice as much and grenade healing them both. It also has the unique utility of shutting down healing received- frighteningly effective counter to Zenyatta ults and dismantling the enemy team's synergy. Her ultimate is incredible- 50% less damage taken, 30% more speed, 50% more damage, and because of her healing output she can charge it very fast.

Not only does she have the highest HPS, she delivers it via hitscan while scoped. Unlike any other healer, she can near instantly switch between healing a Pharah to a Reinhardt and back.

Of course there are reasons not to play her still. She has zero good angles to operate from on some maps, like Anubis. She deals with flankers as poorly as a Mercy and unlike Mercy has clumsy self healing and a much more difficult escape tool to fall back upon- essentially only Zenyatta is a worse solo healer than Ana.

Your accuracy with her is low, probably due to you either lobbing her M2 around without hitting shit or trying to drag her M1 around on flankers.

You should work on your accuracy with her alt fire orbs and learn when to use what firing mode.

Your high energy kills are also middling, try to be more aggressive when you have high energy and your personal shield off CD. But not so aggressive that you overextend and get killed off of course.

Her shield is useless against Zarya and Mei. Use it to block Reaper, Roadhog, and Pharah ults. Her boost is good for chasing low health Mercys past the backline to finish them off. Definitely an aggressive tank more than a defensive one.

Mostly my recommendations stay the same though. You have high accuracy, good energy, but balls damage and low Grav Surge kills.

It looks like you're not cashing in when you DO have high energy, which means you're probably being too conservative with your shots. Don't be afraid to spray alt fire shit around if nobody is next to you when you have high energy. A hit to accuracy is SO worth the increase in damage/ult charge you can generate. Think more like Junkrat instead of McCree.

Your damage blocked is also lowish, which with your high-ish projected shield means that you're not using your projected shield on worthwhile targets.

I don't know how you're using your projected shield, but remember the basic rules are to shield the Reinhardt, or anyone else exposed, while you're trading poke damage, shield your flanker once your team pushes in to attack, shield your back line if you're defending, and shield your Mercy during an incoming DPS ult.

Is the quality of players around here just shit? Because most posts I see about ranked are about being in silver or gold, or trying desperately to climb up to plat or diamond. Like with how much I see people acting like they know the games ins and outs better than anyone else, I figured that people had the rank to back it up.

But, everywhere I look, I see shitters trying to climb out of silver. Trying to climb out of gold. Trying to climb out of plat. Why the fuck does everyone act like a top dog when the majority of fucks around here are average at their best and far worse otherwise.

The only time I've ever got play of the game, even with all the team-wipes I've caused, was when our Zarya ulted with just me and a Hanzo around. I threw my grenade at them and finished them off with my rifle before the dragons showed up, getting a quad kill.

I love playing Ana, but it's so easy to whiff her abilities it's ridiculous.
