She absolutely needs to be. Getting headshots are almost impossible since characters move so fast and never stay still long enough. She's literally more useful on offense than defense, cause on Defense enemies will be moving and swarming you so fast you can't do much about it. Her poison mine is garbage and has no use. The bit about builders somewhat understandable but "snipers are unfun in FPS" really only apply to class based shooters which rely on an overabundance of certain weapon types and close to mid-ranges as its primary style of combat. The problem is that before she had nothing holding her back and the charge was pointless. Her tf2 counterpart has a low rof bolt action that unscoped after every shot, crosshair shake if he took damage, a longer charge time (bodyshot does oneshot light classes but the charge time is way longer than her's), scope that limited FOV, Tracer tier HP, no mobility, and had to contend with more pinpoint hitboxes and characters who moved way faster or could explosive jump at high speeds. He's still a relatively common off-class choice in his game.

It feels like the playerbase just needs to git gud. Seriously. Widowmaker has a higher fov, mobility, quick charge time, and doesn't have to reload after every shot. You can definitely spam bodyshots after the initial charged one on non-tanks especially when you have less pinpoint hitboxes and everyone has a base movespeed of 5.5 and only a few .5 more than that.

I think she's underpowered because her charged headshots are so-so on tanks but aside from that she is not as bad as many make her out to be. One way you could buff her
is making a fully charged headshot an instant kill thus raising her threat level and situational uses because even tanks wouldn't be safe. Or they raise her max bodyshot and headshot but greatly increase the charge time
.
Wallhacks are also a big deal in FPS games. I don't know why people underestimate common FPS elements like the huge advantage of shooting first and being able to set up that scenario with wallhacks in this game. Its charge time was nerfed but they could undo I guess.

Do people not understand not being shot is the best way to avoid damage? I swear the flankers were playing like tanks and vice versa. And snipers, you have to know that healing only happens if we can see you. All healers need line of sight to heal you. Lucio needs LoS to heal you. It's like D.va's ult. Hiding from it means no effect for you.

He apparently lost that battle. I'm salty from what I heard because they didn't really do him justice. I'd be okay with either winning if they showcased their abilities correctly. None of his mobility went into play including his double jump and he didn't try to avoid damage. They basically pitted a shit Scout against a good Tracer. They don't use the Meet The videos are any canon evidence and apparently ignore the fact that Tracer has a cooldown in a sense in canon (museum cinematic).

As for how he could beat her that's easily justified with Tf2 being more cartoony, just like how Kirby beat Majin Buu. Plus she's not wearing armor, she's still human. I feel like if you could pit them into a gameplay arena at least Scout would win. Sandman + guillotine. Or pistol her until her player recalls and then switch to the scattergun to meatshot with twitch aim before her player can finish unloading the entirety of her pistol's clip. In gameplay terms he's like a hybrid of Lucio (always speedboosted all the time in terms of movement speed), Genji (double jump), and Reaper (shotgun). A hero like that being put into OW would fuck Tracer up honestly.

Is trying to rank up as a support a hopeless endeavor? I've been trying for days, failed half my placement matches, and have had nothing but loss after loss as I get stuck in with shittier and shittier teams every game as my rank plummets like a rock.

It doesn't matter how long I keep them in the fight, my teams just can't fucking kill anyone, and I can't do anything about it.

But is there some resources that could help me with individual hero level tactics? I feel that mechanical skills of aiming such I get with time and practice and for team level stuff of strategy and composition my input in tiny overall.
But I feel that thing I could improve on is the moment to moment thinking. Things like how to position and when to push and when to pull back, should I prioritize my own survival or killing an enemy or healing a friend.

Things like that.
I know the question is vague and there are no easy hard answers, but maybe there is some places that help a little bit with how to think during a match stuff.
