Problem is, I currently have a Japanese Vita and play exclusively Japanese games, so I'm used to O being confirm and X being cancel. If I get a US Vita TV, is there any way to swap the buttons so it's consistent in the system menus, or am I going to have to pay extra for a Japanese Vita TV?

That sounds awesome. I was reminded of how at first I thought Sky Clad Observer was just a great opening song partnered with an opening full of strange things and the main theme evoked a good sense of mystery, then after playing through some endings and ultimately platting the game both songs give me chills every time I hear them. Watching the opening itself alone is one hell of an experience even so long after beating the game, seeing all those things you had no idea about before playing now reminding you of all the things that happened.

There's probably a bit more to it with sig checks, yes. Also without a way to reliably restore the system on brick (like a total brick, not even recovery menu since we can mess with that too) I'd imagine there will be a lot of caution for this early time.

But we can literally see what the Vita does now (or even more so by more people) and it's day 0 so give it time.

My vita has been collecting dust for awhile. Not to say I'm not buying Vita games, but I've found myself more addicted to PlaystationTV + Vita games on my computer or on a big TV.

No. It's an updated remake of the japan only DS version of Shiren 5. The DS version (Shiren 1) is an updated remake of the first game.

While the very base basics are the same, Shiren 5 is just so polished and the sprites are so well that I honestly find that the idea of going back to play Shiren 4-1 may be a bit harder on me.

Homebrew lets you easily back up Vita savegames without caring about the game.

If only we could have gotten all the DS releases. I would have gladly double dipped with the Vita version had the original been released over here, the spritework just looks fantastic in a similar way Rune Factory 3's character portraits do - the best kinf of spritework near the end of the console's lifecycle, made with platform's limitations in mind. I'm actually really glad Shiren's getting the attention it deserves now. Even the regular Vita video makers are praising the game, and that's wonderful. Back in the DS days pretty much nobody knew about the Shiren game that came out, and even if they knew, majority knew of it because of the atrocious box art. Now when the latest entry has been released for a platform that's already dead on general public's eyes and has an active player community of those who actually own the device, the series has now much better chances to get the recognition it deserves. Of course the lack of mandatory westernization with the cover art helps a lot.

Are you sure you saw it on /v/? 'Cause I was on /v/ throughout most of the discussion (i.e. the week before the game's release, in which the leak occurred, and the two weeks after the game's release) and beyond one or two people complaining about how bad the game was from a standalone perspective (e.g. reusing puzzles), the majority found the game to be pretty good for around 80-90% of it.

With that being said, most people's complaints were about how it was a shitty way to end a trilogy, which it truly was.
