well I had an image but I forgot it
the top left would be the proper setup where the blue shaft is what the purple round piece would be rotating around
the bottom left is makeshift thing you can do where you have a "stationary" piece on each end but then you have to artificially synchronize them since you can't put the shaft through the rotating section

I want to make the stationary part go through the center of the rotating part

Guys, I finally got my pc streaming to my fancy new headset + phone, what games should I try? Gmod works well (and presumably all other source engine games).

It even does proper stereoscopic 3d.

The thing is that originally it didn't had that shape, but the vehicle started clanging itself when i was building it, to the point it ended up floating in mid-air without knowing how. So i ended up leaving like that until i fixed it.

To be honest, i like this design much more. It doesnt' have the same autonomy, but it can climb almost anything. It climbs 60 degree slopes at 13 m/s like there was nothing there.

this is my main issue with Factorio. Until you build a hardcore defense system like pic related, defending your base is incredibly repetitive and requires annoying micromanagement. It's an excellent game nonetheless - and building such a turret system is fun, but dealing with the early-game bug raids is just annoying.

Hi /egg/, I made a game a little while ago that I think you might like. It's not an engineering game per se, but involves building and management in a sort of abstract, mathematical way. The game's kind of unique; not really sure whether it would fit better in /egg/ or the dead /cbg/ (or neither).

You build a power grid, and try to power houses - all in the setting of the Wireworld automaton.

It has somewhat of a learning curve to learn the rules, but once you learn them, it's fairly intuitive. I'm quite proud of it.

Perhaps what's similar to DF are the ASCII graphics, the general idea that it has management aspects, and perhaps some elements of how it's controlled. Other than that, I'd say the game sort of has a different design philosophy. My game could never have as many diverse, complex mechanics as DF, yet I think it has a certain "mathematical" depth in its simple rules.

Still, the guys there might be open to it, if they like games like DF. I'll give /dfg/ it a try, and /cbg/ if it ever resurrects itself. Sorry for my off-topic post.

How I figured out solid axle suspension. in order to simplify everything, the axle needs to be able to extend, so I put a spring there and it's worked perfectly.

For the front wheels the left solution wont work because they will change the advance angle, making the turn into something else.

Yeah, 500mm sabot isn't worth it.
Railguns are best in the 18-60mm range because of how the energy/speed equation works. You want long shells too, RoF will depend on gun size and number of chargers, and there's no reason to cool down or reload faster than you charge.

I made a lot of mistakes. The Children of the Egg are brutally efficient in their designs.

Those fucking Lotus, and the other little boogers.

They can be countered by anything that can fire more then I'd say, 60rpm in as small as I guess 20mm variety nu-cannons.

But I literally ran dry on several resources and it ended up taking me hours to build the vehicles necessary to mine the resources I needed.

Those EMP frag missiles are a bitch against the simple wooden structures of Coconut beach.

Just to clarify, I've burned at least 36 hours in FtD overall, but most of it's been spent curating Blueprints to my liking, rather then building shit on the fly. So most times I'm turtling or scrambling to print something out worth a damn, be it blueprint substructure or Prefab

I'm glad the flower corp designs are challenging. The trick against the Lotus is th at it is extraordinarily slow and it relies on having other vehicles screen it's approach. It's pretty weak against IR as well. Target them first and you should be fine. BTW those are bombs, not missiles, the rely entirely on apn guidance. They have no thrusters or fuel. Also, I irc the flower fleet has literally no AA, so if you even just make a shitty plane it should rek them.

How exactly is it anti-fun? It's meant to be easily modified for new players to do whatever you need it for, and should allow you to reach the top of the mountain without modifications.

Also, the signs in the building explain to you how to fix up the starting resource gatherers, or at least get resources faster. Did you read any of those? Also the whole reason for the scarcity of resources at the beginning is to help balance the player's advantage over the ai in the beginning.

Also keeping an eye on your resources and effectively managing them is something a player must learn to do regardless of what planet you're starting on.

sonar, magnet, ballast, proximity fuse, regulator, explosive x3, fins x3, fuel tanks x2, torpedo propeller

And yes, small missiles are better than big ones, but this is a small vehicle that it's likely to get one-shotted shortly after launching it's first torpedo, that's why i chose to shot a big one instead of a small one.
That, and because it's supposed to be a bote for the enemy army, so I don't want them to be too OP in early game

The whole point of localized resources was supposed to be fighting the AI by fucking its supply chain, ie, boats stop working because they run out of ammo or fuel and you buttfuck a much larger force that way. Which would be marvelous with the upcoming detection system because killing resource vessels with attack subs suddenly becomes a viable method for waging war, except for the fast AI GETS INFINITE GLOBAL RESOURCES EVEN WHEN ITS ENABLED.

Which, would, I admit, be PERFECTLY FINE in multiplayer. But lets be honest, who here has played a multiplayer game where that would have had an impact? How many of you have actually been in a team game that large? You have places where you have refineries that turn oil into fuel, and then you give it into other vehicles like you do with the other resources.
You can also do it with things like ammo, electricity and spare parts, which means that you could have factory/generator vehicles that it's only purpose is to create ammo/electricity/spare parts and share it with the other vehicles

I kind of disagree with the "unintuitive" bit: what part of it is unintuitive? The base game? The tools are self-explanatory for the most part (weld welds, ballsocket ballsockets, axis rotates, etc.).
Wiremod? Hell yes. AFAIK it's not really supposed to be intuitive - it's meant for more "advanced" players who want to put some sort of automation or more in-depth design into their contraptions.

There's going to be areas, NOT arenas, that have atmosphere and gravity, we've confirmed aerodynamics to work with the panel system so you can make your own damn wings with a bit of tweaking AND there's going to be a campaign. I kinda agree with you about the arena game part, I'm not much of a combat-only kinda guy, which is why I like all the other games we have, that involve building things for efficient utility rather than just killing things without getting killed. REMannon, if you could involve some kind of larger battles or other game type that wasn't as combat-oriented, I'd be very happy. You guys mentioned the concept in the REMcast a few times, why the focus on the marketplace? Being able to sell designs is a robocraft-tier idea that can easily kill any building aspect game. This IS engineering general, and we're not looking for a pure combat game.

The thing that keeps me playing the rest of these games is that there's a trade-off when it comes to building ships, and that trade-off isn't always based on combat capabilities or cost, which this one does seem to be. The idea that "If you want to gain X then you have to sacrifice some combat capabilities", and then you get to use fun or novel mechanics to counter that.

In Spengies or Avorion you may have to transport your slow sluggish miner/hauler somewhere dangerous, so you make a fleet of combat drones to escort you. So far REM seems like it's just arena warfare with a marketplace, it sounds like you're trying to make a space-robocraft.

I do indeed still have my data. I got it by simply adding the data from the end of the month to be honest, so it's not super accurate in a lot of ways, if it was more accurate you'd see me (in the early game) never going above $200 as I spend money to expand and then eat the debt at the end of the month since there's no reason not to.

-Road Wheel type: overall design
-Suspension type: trailing vs. Leading
-Link Width: Max Weight vs. Ground resistance

Nope, the current plan is to let people walk up to anyone else and challenge them to a duel. The challenged player sets the terms (who can use what cost of ship, for example), the challenger either accepts or tells them to fuck off.

Matchmaking has always proven to be a terrible idea for everyone. Masterclasses on doing it wrong and fucking the whole game for everyone are Robocuc and World of Tonks. Both benefit greatly from choosing your team mates your own damn self.

Not specifically 'selling', more or less 'renting out' with the pay being some of the winnings of the match. The 'marketplace' is intended to allow people who purely want to build to make at least some winnings. Then, parts are drip fed into the game for people to buy with winnings to create new shit, and older parts are either phased out or made more expensive to keep the meta moving. Of course, if none of this works we can very easily rip all of it out and basically make it into Machinecraft/Gmod with a less fucked physics system and more intuitive builder and functioning combat systems. The principle issue with not doing combat focused stuff is that its very easy to slip into Starmade's idea of design, which happens to just devolve into either megaships flying around as if they're made of tissuepaper or absolute nothingness in spess.

We could do a 4X space trading game, but that'd get the release date and cost pushed back several years and several thousand dollars over the edge of uncomfortable.

instead of having a rotor item

have a basic turret design that you simply armor around and have various sizes, the turret design could be controls/optics - or even the gun itself and you just add armor panels for cool slopes/designs.

I've been following sub rosa for forever now and it does look very good. We are planning a lobby system that actually involves player characters walking around. We could very easily make some mission based scenarios that involve people doing stuff like in sub rosa.

For example; Destroy the generator
You and your team have to storm a compound on a massive sprawling city map, and the enemy team start with ground vehicles armed with anti-air weaponry. We could randomly generate the map, or allow the players to start however and whenever they want once everyone is loaded in. Or both. Add AI players to come and harass either side, like a police force or something.

This all depends on people actually finding this interesting and asking for it, though given how cool it looks, I don't see that being much of an issue.

If we allow people to just sit back and hit 'go', that's all anyone will ever do and suddenly its really difficult to get a team together. Like anything else we'll add it if the demand is high enough or it becomes a problem of player intuitiveness.

We also want to stay the fuck away from anything larger than a 2v2, or 3v3. Higher than that and you start running into just having a roiling mass of shitters that have mob mentality.

I'm on win7. And no it doesn't display anything at all. It just sits there trying to start. In fact i tried to kill the process and i couldn't. I had to reset to get rid of that lingering process.

Oh my. I have tested it on other Windows 7 machines.

Is your anti-virus scanning it or something? I've noticed that after I compile the executable for the first time on my machine, and run it, my antivirus (Avast) makes it hiccup a bit, and sometimes I have to run it again. I haven't seen anything as serious as your results, though.
