Ooh, I can't lie, I do like them.
>>
>>146720843
Oh! Then I think I know how to fix it at this point. Run the executable, right-click on the top bar of the window, and select "Properties."

From there, take a look at the font size options for the console. Try selecting a smaller font size, press OK, then exit and restart the executable. You may need to mess around with it a bit to find the largest font size that works.

What I believe is happening is that the window might be slightly too big for your resolution (you'll know this is the case if when you run it, there are either vertical or horizontal scroll bars). When this happens, Windows doesn't display any of the text.

Btw are you the dev? Because, i don't want to be nitpicky but, when the accounting screen popups or i open it some part of it doesn't refresh and stays in the screen after i close it. It's just a little thing.

New serbian never. Maybe after we get a stable branch but most likely never.

FtD, anybody know a way to force LMDs to fire? I'm trying to test if I have enough power output.
>>
>>146726506
All I need is the "money before fees." You can just paste those 24 points of data here, if you want.

>>146727725
Yes, I am the dev. That's not nitpicky; that's pointing out something I haven't seen yet, which is useful. So, to get it straight, after you press F1, some artifacts of it are still left on the screen? What happens if you move the cursor over those artifacts?
>>
>>146728069
>a way to force LMDs to fire
I usually spawn Dusters for this purpose.
You could also build a test platform to launch dummy missiles and put AI with enemy simulator on it.
>>
>>146728684
They go away, except the border where i can't put the cursor obviously.
Well, I'm glad i'm helping then.
>>
>>146728863
could you post a screenshot? The accounting window should actually be drawn in the center, so it shouldn't intersect the outer boundary at all. I hope it's not being cut off.

>>146729185
I was about to do that. The strange thing is that if i minimize the screen it goes away.
>>
>>146730042
That's really strange. Maybe further messing with the font settings in the console properties might help this, but I'm really not sure at the moment (haven't yet been able to reproduce it, nor have I heard of anyone else seeing this).

It's likely something to do with how the console is drawing the border of the Accounting window. I'll definitely look into this further; thanks for pointing it out.

Dev here, thank you so much. I see the houses upgraded quite quickly in the game in your screenshot. Do you find this generally happens? It's supposed to be very unlikely.

Yes, lightning strikes can be unlucky. One tradeoff is that with a high-frequency grid (lots of charges on screen), lightning is less likely to hit - but of course, this will cost more in maintenance.
>>
>>146735424
I know. My friend with 24GB ram is hosting.
>>146735447
Well building a small ship with drills was easy, as well as adding four drills to yellow starting ship, including piping to refinery.
Either I did not drill enough to encounter issues or large drills now cover >2x2 large blocks area.
>>
>>146735125
Mine small and only what you need, or use a giga drill mod if you are into that.
>>
>>146736385
But where's the fun in that? I want a giant mothership with like 25x25 mining surface and multiple refineries/assemblers.
>>
>>146735816
Uh, well, it usually goes like that yeah, not so much upgraded, I'm not sure I've ever seen a house actually upgrade. I'm just completely willing to move my entire grid to higher value houses as they appear. I originally started in the low center to tend to a couple 1 houses before migrating north to that 5 and then the 6, then down to the lower right stuff. You can see when it started appearing, around the 6th month or so I'd say. The dip in my money mid way is when I was in the process of axing all my infrastructure for anything less than a 4 and rebuilding.

I just picked up Space Engineers and I am a big fan of the concept of survival, but a big issue I am having is that I constantly run out of fuel because of the two dozen asteroids I've checked out, not a single one has had any uranium. It's tough to even get more than just ice, iron, and one other ore in a single asteroid.

Is this just bad luck or par for the course?

From: Dr Eggman
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

No but in all seriousness does anything about eggheim look finished to you? Do you really think that that's the full, finished campaign? If you burn yourself out on constantly starting a new campaign on an unfinished map that currently has very little to do in it, then that is your own damn problem and I'd ask that you please find the nearest bottle of bleach and drink it.

Obviously I am going to fill things out in the campaign. I mean shit look at the abandoned mine that isn't showing up in campagin for whatever reason. That was mentioned in that thread. That should tell you right there what you're in for: an unfinished pile of shit.

Like for fucks sake did you not even notice that only one faction even has an HQ? Let alone that there are multiple factions with 0 designs? Do you eat raw food and complain when it makes you sick?

TL;DR You're retarded. Thanks for testing aspects of the campaign and giving your input though.

E2 wasn't so bad.
It only really needed it's functionality limited or made admins able to limit it.
Most important thing about it made things more compact for aesthetical purpose and made the installation of all this hardware way easier. If you believe that spending minutes to wire together all the chips, constants, inputs and outputs is fun and exciting, you should check yourself into a mental institution.
>>

>At what point in AP useless on a CRAM cannon?
When it can bore right through few dozen OW ships.
Get enough AP to get to the juicy internals, little margin for unexpected bulkhead, rest is up to your personal preferences.
>>
>>146761017
Depends on what you're shooting. HEAP cannon, right? Then you want a pendepth fuse and enough AP and KE to burrow to the desired depth through expected enemy armor.
For example, if you expect two layers of metal beams in the way followed by an air gap you want to blow up in then you want 36AP and >3360 kinetic damage.

See those rods i'm launching? it took three of them and the blocks only got a bit darker.
>>
>>146761557
Nick cut weight and cost last patch.
It's absurdly heavy still.

It's durable, but not good enough. A layer won't stop a big CRAM turret.
It's great against explosions, sucks against lasers, and iffy against a good KEP gun. But shields now shit on KEP guns so I guess it might work out? Either way, lasers and PACs are the meta right now and it's shit against lasers. Haven't PACtested it yet, but I can't imagine it making a difference against piercings.

Their original intention was to make something that looked like a fucking Maser Cannon from Godzila, and mount it to the top of a humvee.

When pointed at a crowd of people it was supposed to create an intense burning sensation all over their skin, and drop the whole crowd to their knees writhing in pain. And then when you turn it off the pain stops and they are totally fine.

There's a laser wavelength coder (bullshit name IMO), that you add to the laser as if was a laser colorer. By default, that block makes 19% of the laser damage unblockable, and then the laser does 25% normal laser damage.
But those percentages can be changed.

This can be done with APS set on shotgun mode, which is frag + timed fuse set on minimum.

Best we got for you now is turrets/gimballed mounted weapons or fixed weapons that you can mount whatever sort of sponsor or armor you want as the mantlet.

Specifically what would you use rotors for in a 1v1 Dueling game?

I'll see what we can do, but the issue with that is as always the network based CLANG, which aint a thing that's very fun to deal with in dueling. REM also has the unique case of having actual structural integrity, so you'd need multiple points or a really thick rotor to support anything. We have measures available to make this less awful to play in a laggish environment, but it will severely limit how important structural integrity actually is. (Things like sectioning up the ship into, say, eight 'part's' and adding up a integrity 'value' to calculate how well your ship is holding together rather than every little thing, to cut down how many physics calls the game makes.)

>>146794927
First person is already in the game along with compliant control methods for it, we just need a cockpit model for it now. (The player camera is currently jammed into the cockpit model, so you can out of it with minor view obstruction.) The issue with a first person cockpit is that you either need a glass bubble canopy on the OUTSIDE of your armor to even see anything, or a monitor camera thing, and that really limits what you can see. We've tested a method to make this work efficiently, and it kind of works.

We can even have camera 'modules' in various positions so they can be taken out and monitors in the cockpit will go 'ded', progressively blinding you on that axis. Simulation dueling has always been a fetish of mine however, so we'll do our best to make that a thing. Sim battles mode, anyone?
Also, since I have a bit of free time on my hands until Sterik finishes ironing out the bugs in the UI system, would anyone be interested in a structured video critique of various other /egg/ games and why I think they're either fundamentally broken or how a certain feature fucks the experience?

That's actually what I've been looking at the most for inspiration of the cockpit layout and control methods, but I do have a few problems with it. Specifically, its a big massive clusterfuck of information and controls that you can only use if you've spent hours reading or dicking with it, AND you have to be physically looking at them to control them efficiently. Its also not especially intuitive, given that its obviously not intended to fight with. Or at the very least, it isn't optimized for it. Too much stuff to distract you from dodging missiles and 120mm howitzer rounds flying at you, I think.

What Rogue system is doing is just an opaque texture on the model that is turned off when the system is powered 'on', but given that the cockpit is typically on the nose of these vessels in RS, that wouldn't work for REM since we expect players to protect their cockpit with armor and modules and other such things in an attempt to stop armor piercing going through their face. What we can do is have a view 'camera' that doesn't render your ship on the cockpit's front, so it gives the illusion of the same thing, then dynamically place a 'camera' module on the nose/sides/rear/top/bottom of the ship that could feasibly be taken out via high explosive round, or simply ripped off via running into a wall or another ship.

Its a businesss... for profits, the rest are sub-products of it.
Its not convenient this days to have demos.
Better have paid shills.

I want to make a missile ship, all of its armor plating will fold out into giant expanses of tiny missiles, that fire at the enemy. Once it's payload has been delivered, it will then fold up and ram at the enemy ship with an explosive hull, the ultimate death or glory attack.

Is this possible in any game?

>>146808034
I don't blame them for axing demos. The evidence was conclusive. Demos by their nature targeted people most likely to buy your game already. By and large, they would not REACH anyone that wasn't already interested. So therein lies a problem. What if your demo is shit? What if your game is average? You are giving away, for absolutely free, discouragement to buy your game. Paying money to get people not to pay money.

That's just the tip of all the issues demos created for publishers.

I do hold them for killing demos, but I also understand why. It didn't benefit them at all.

I get a better overview now in 2016 by watching a bit of some random LP or video guide series than I did from demos.
>>
>>146808212
And... since when you had that feeling about a game?
Since when the game is 100% done and then had expansion packs, instead of a 65% bugged shit that we betatest and will reach 70% even with all dlcs, wich are not 1 big pack, but smaller ones.

This is why i pirate most of my stuff, they dont deserve the money, because thats exactly what they want.

no no, demos didnt die. They evolved into the worst of all.
"e3 tech demos"
Take watchdogs as example, the e3 had the unlocked and full PC version.
Later the game was chopped because the console heldback was too huge.

Same with "demo builds" like rainbow six or others wich are lost in time, and all those details and stuff gets deleted, because that was a confined enviroment, and not the whole map you see later in the game.
you can try demos at e3 and similar places, but its not the same because the stuff i told you.
And you cant just download that demo and keep it.
Some publishers go as far as pic related.

But the hardware was a PC way WAY more capable than the bone.
Could have constant 60fps at 1080p.
Wich is impossible for the console stating with the 900p render res, not to mention the cinematic 24fps.

Stuff like this reminds you of what is this.
An industry, with rooms full of people finding a way to have higher profits. then comes the devs and directors and shit, but the one who puts the money, its the one who decide this shit.
Look at konami, old lizzard japs in suits knew about how compulsive people can be with anime... so they went to the cheap solution.
A souless pachinko, but with the METAL GEAR... or CONTRA name on it.
Konami could revive and fill his building with money, if they were more... humble??? or pasionate???
But then you hit the ground, and remember this old men are just businees people, they see numbers in an exel chart, they dont give a single fuck about the rest.

Its also why allways "games" use the most "secure" formula.

So Reassembly is 50% off right now and I've been playing for a few hours now. It's pretty fun, has very nice A E S T H E T I C S and sounds, and even has hairy spacesticles for all your penisboat needs.

It's basically a grey-goo fleet building game, the building and combat is very similar to void hunters, which was my shit back when Jagex tried to make something that wasn't Runescape, and then proceeded to fail miserably and just stick to Runescape.

There's a funny thing I realized just now.
Production in Starmade is actually vertex-based.
Like REM's building system.

Wish skubmade had more depth, in general, and when it comes to production and logistics:
Like, similar to Factorio's assemblers, several tiers of factories. Each one costs progressively more than the previous tier but can construct more kinds of blocks.

Then we need Factorio's logistic circuit system to control the production and distribution of stuff. With factories and storage units interacting with it, obviously. Might work as an expansion to current logic system.

Finally, to ease the cargo transfer, we need a semi-new system.
Cargo transporters. A relatively easy way to move cargo between station or hauler and mining ship.
Transportation is performed in "packets". Each block increases the maximum packet size. Packet size is customizable but the bigger the packet, the longer it takes to send it.
Dimensions define the range of the transporter.
Has built-in filtering for inbound and outbound items.
Can form logistic networks by switching between modes. Item transfer, however, is not instantaneous - they jump from storage to storage, passing transit "nodes" to get where they needed.
Provide - actively pushes contents of connected storage into the network.
Request - actively pulls items from the network into connected storage.
Storage - passively provides contents of connected storage to the network, storing excess items with nowhere to go.
Transit - simply extends the logistic network, receiving items and sending them farther.
Manual - does not interact with logistic network, instead prompts to select the destination to send items to or to receive from, if allowed.
It may not be practical to transfer stuff between systems, but it will help connect several stations in the neighboring sectors. Especially if the transit stations have good range on their transporters.
>>
>>146841178
starmade is already pretty deep when it comes to automated production, there's just not anything to do with the products other than build ships

in fact starmade has one of the best logic gate building systems to date
>>
>>146841865
Not really.
You still can't tell factory to stop production once there are enough certain blocks.
You can't tell when the storage is empty/full, or how full it is.
There's very little depth in that.

you can do all those things except tell exactly how full the storage is

for example, you want a factory to put 64 hull in your storage and then empty the storage

>set your "hull" storage to pull filter hull
>give it enough cargo space to fit 64 hull, fill the rest with junk that wont ever be pulled from it
>set your "main" storage to pull filter hull, slave the hull storage to it
>put activation module next to hull storage, it will give FALSE whenever the storage is full
>hook that up so it disables the factory and the hull storage and activates main storage when hull storage is full
>???

if you want to tell if a storage is empty, you use an OR signal instead of activation module
>>
>>146842458

>>
>>146844473

A bit of a piss-off that the devs decided to focus such a large portion of the development time behind 0.13 to rails and wiring. The game needs some more variety in enemies and weapons. Flamethrower reworks were nice though.

>>146844789
I don't have any complaints about 0.13

It didn't revolutionize the game or revitalize it but it was a solid improvement that made everything a lot better.
>>
>>146844929

I don't have any complaints either, and I generally agree. The game's endgame just feels extremely lackluster is all.

The worst part about this is that it feels like a finished product, and I suspect that it's primarily because it pretty much is a finished product and despite future plans the devs are likely going to add in a handful more features and items and call it a day.

I'll be honest I think people that buy early access games think they're pic related and developers will put unlimited content into a game.

The end game has a lot of stuff and a very definitive goal and win condition. I'd love to have more, and they're definitely refining it with the 0.13 roboport / circuit network changes. But I don't expect any major features to be added to it.

Compare this to say Spergies where the end game is to uninstall because you built the big ship and now have NOTHING TO DO

The endgame needs an RTS-style extension, where you send an army of tanks and robots against the central hive or something, while drinking wine in the control center.
>>
>>146847786
I wish we still lived in the 90s where these crazy spin offs happened all the time.

Imagine importing your factorio save into a RTS game like that.
>>
>>146847875
You don't even need importing, almost all the mechanics is already in place. Factorio just needs an RTS interface, and then robots can build everything, provided your logistic network is working and there is no shortage of resources and materials. And remotely-controlled tanks.

Also, evolution should make enemies not only bigger but smarter, making them merge forces between nests, consider defensive installations and purposely disrupt communications, as well as growing fortifications of their own.

There's a new block that ejects all the ammo inside the clips of an APS gun when it's destroyed. The laser destroys that block, and then, the block launches all the bullets up into the air

Launching frags has funny effects on the target this way, see >>146763419

I think Factorio's endgame isn't bad at the moment, personally. You set a goal for yourself (e.g. build a ship, have amazing defenses, maybe make a super mech), and accomplish it. Sure, it needs more stuff to do at the end, but I don't think it's the main problem of the game.

What I do think is the main problem is actually the early-game. The game has horrid replay value because every game starts exactly the same way - and dealing with the aliens before you have proper defenses is also tedious.

No. It goes something like:

If you don't have solar power, steam engines are on.

It completely ignores accumulator capacity and any other sources of power, which is stupid.

Oh that's a silly little byproduct of what you're doing and I understand your confusion. When something is created it is outputted. It is outputted onto the ground in front of the factory, mine, regular coal powered drill..

What is unusual is the furnace is acting as a container. Like a chest. As it isn't being inserted, there's no inserter behavior that says "No we have enough no more please". It treats it as an inserter would a chest and just fills it to the brim.

laser turrets are meant to kill the shit out of your power. their gimmick is that they don't need complicated upkeep for ammo and can easily draw from a large pool of "ammo" (your base's energy supply).
the easiest way is to run off of solars during the day and seperate your steam power network via accumilators or some other way so your accumilators are used during the night and only the steam power that's needed trickles through if you get attacked and don't have enough power.

REM DEMOOOOOOOOOO???
>>
>>146935997
For a standard M/T from wikipedia:
"The gear selector does not engage or disengage the actual gear teeth which are permanently meshed. Rather, the action of the gear selector is to lock one of the freely spinning gears to the shaft that runs through its hub. The shaft then spins together with that gear. The output shaft's speed relative to the countershaft is determined by the ratio of the two gears: the one permanently attached to the countershaft, and that gear's mate which is now locked to the output shaft."

>>
>>146936648
No multiplayer until core features are in. With the way netcode works, it would be extremely difficult to add in features after multiplayer is implemented. Whole bunch of sync/performance issues. Not until we have the resource system fully implemented and the lobby system somewhat done will we open up to multiplayer for the sake of speed of development. You will, however, be very easily able to share ships, and the AI is very competent.

Proto-multiplayer, if you will. Think Robot Arena 2, but less awfully buggy.

>We have doubled the projectile velocity of Lasers (they were 4x slower than Rail, they are now 2x slower than Rail).
>We have decreased the spread on Laser Wasps (making them more accurate) by around 2x, and decreased the spread on Laser Leviathan by 20% with a linear interpolation of the spread on Lasers in between.
>We have reduced the Flak explosion radius against air by 15%, this radius is used for both the new ‘Sentinel’ and the Aeroflak Guardian (which is the new name for the Aeroflak Cannon).
>We have renamed ‘nominal’ to ‘maximum’ for all weapons to simplify the understanding of how many weapons you need to place to get the maximum fire-rate. We have also removed the ‘tail’ after the maximum, so adding more beyond this number will not give you anything extra aside from redundancy. We have also reduced the maximum number of weapons required to reach max fire-rate on a number of weapons to the kinds of numbers you might expect, for example 4 for Laser Disintegrator with any more than 4 giving you redundancy only. NB: the ‘tail’ only gave an additional 10% if you added an insane number of extra weapons (like 20 Disintegrators) so we felt it unnecessary to keep it in favour of providing more clarity on this for Crafters who want to get maximum efficiency out of their builds.
>We’re also exaggerating the difference between small and large Lasers. The larger Lasers are getting a significant damage boost but with a significant increase in their Power consumption, for example the Leviathan is getting a 100% damage boost (i.e. double) with a Power per shot increase taking time to run out of Power when trigger is held down from 20 seconds to 4 seconds (of course, if you’re using your Laser properly you’re probably not holding down the trigger 100% of the time, depending on range).

>At 1125 CPU Robots will have the same maximum Power as they did before this update
>At 1750 CPU Robots will have 25% more maximum Power than before the update

The lasers in the game used to be hitscan, and it was the worst fucking thing ever. They were basically machine guns that could snipe things across the map on near full auto with zero bullet travel time due to hitscan.

What this meant was that as soon as you were visible on somebodys screen, way off far as fuck away just coming into draw/render distance, they could now hit you with their hitscan machine guns for full damage. It was terrible. You could not escape from them.

You could sit on the ground and snipe planes out the sky with your hitscan sniping machine guns.

And now it seems they are slowly working their way back to that shit by reducing the SMGs cone of fire, and increasing the projectile speed to near hitscan levels again because all the fucking casual babby faggots are getting their shit kicked in by all the other weapons that are "harder" to use and do more damage than SMGs. They drive around getting ass fucked because they want to just mash down on M1 with their machine guns and win every time.

Started playing yesterday, I had 3 coal powered drills (mining coal) next to each other, all with arms putting them on the band thing. When I had it like that, it seemed like the drills consumed their fuel faster than they were mining, and I really only got back the fuel I put in. What's up with that? I also tried to have some coal come back around and feed into the drill as fuel, but the arm instantly just picks it up.
>>
>>146955561
burner inserters use coal to power themselves, it'll really knock down your net production.
I'd minmax for electrical sht
>>
>>146955561
post picture
when you mine with a drill, the drill tries to drop whatever it mines out on where the arrow is
if that spot is empty, it drops it on the ground. If it's a container, it drops it in the container. You should get around 7-8 ores for each piece of coal you stick in a burner drill. Inserter arms grab from the side with the flat line and put the object into the side where the arrow is pointing. Inserters don't like to overfill machines and only fill things that need fuel with about five pieces and only fill assembling machines with enough objects to complete the recipie twice
>>
>>146955681
But don't I have to manually inser the coal into them? Or do they fucking steal the ones's they're moving?
>>
>>146955784
>Or do they fucking steal the ones's they're moving?

>Lamps can be turned on/off to represent 1's and 0's
>7 or 8 lamps is 1 bit

>If there were enough bits you could do complex calculations with them, such as 'when the crudeoil falls below 8000, pump it back up to 11000, unless the pumpjacks are too depleted, in which case send out an alert signal'

I really don't agree but it is a lot of work to set up barrels.

Essential would mean the existing system either doesn't work or is so laborious it might as well not work.

Barrel trains are more about experience and smart management. Liquid tankers are saying "My power level can't meet the demands of the game"

barrels are shitty to set up and I hate them
the infrastructure behind them requires assemblers, a ton of belts, steel, and a way so all of your barrels don't pile up in one spot

The problem with rail tanker is the low throughput, you can fit a lot more oil in barrels than in the tanker.

Then why the fuck do we even use big-ass cistern IRL?
Why not move all the shit in barrels?

You just described this whole situation.
Liquid tankers are saying "Barrel autism is retarded".
I'd love to see something resembling war rig from Mad Max for transportation of liquids in medium quantities without rails.

Barrels - small quantities, can be transported in the inventory.
Cistern truck - medium quantities, medium distances.
Tanker - long-range transportation of large quantities of liquids.

>replacing metal with heavy
>small tank becomes 1200+ mass

Heh

This entire deal is because I'm trying to get away from scrub behavior by building a never ending long pipe.
>>
How is the factorio update?
>>
>>146963503
liquids don't flow well in long pipes and putting pump stations at intervals is annoying
also if you ever try to drive past your pipes you're bound to hit a few of them
>>
>Set up the whole barrel to train deal at the pump side

>tell the train to go to station to make sure its all set right

>I'm standing 1 nanometer on the track

>GAME OVER YEAH!

mfw I'm ordering one to replace my 560ti 1GB

Good year to upgrade. If you are a performance whore you can snag a 1080 and if you would rather spend your money on video games you can get a rx480.

Both cards look like they'll last you 5 years.

The 2hr rocket was done with a specific seed. It's still pretty impressive, but runs with a random map can take twice that time.

Do we have a ship date yet? I was gonna buy a 380X/390X when the price dropped to replace my aging, heat damaged 650Ti but holy fuck dat price tho.
>>
>>146967587
Yes, and so is ebay. Pretty sure amazon has all the same chink adapters or adapter cables too, hidden behind those big brands with "diamond-plated carbon-infused 100% solid gold hi-fi audio approved virus-protected" connectors

This is why we told you not to buy the damn 960
You could have waited and bought a card with TWICE the performance per dollar but no. You needed to waste money right fucking then on an overpriced, underperforming 760 replacement.

I haven't bought a 4GB hella overclockable 960 for its original price. I bought it off for less than half that.
It's not like I would notice a major difference between cards when I came from a fucking 210.

Not graphics intensive, that's for sure. Factorio is basically a glorified slideshow, it's at most graphics memory intensive, but only with a fuckton of mods.

Huge amounts of anything decrease performance. But, robots are one of the few things you can make quite a lot of without too much of an impact.

Most of the robot logic is spent in "is my destination still valid? If so, do I have power to move? If yes, move."

t. Rseding91, Developer
>>
>>146973173
In the webms I've seen, the robots ignored terrain and obstacles. That means pathfinding is one line of code to get the direction to the destination.
>>
>>146973173
>LE PATHING MAYMAY
Kill yourself my man.
>>146973315
>>146973315
>>146973315
>>146973315

The logic for most things is a lot more complex than you'd think - inserters picking up/dropping off items/rotation requires a ton of vector math to draw the items moving over the arc + the inserter arms. Biters require path finding and collision/group speed checks, finding targets and tracking them and all that jaz.
