Estus shards are harder to find and bone ash is guarded. The Pursuer pursues.

STR / FAI is more effective in DaS2 than DaS3 since the buffs aren't nerfed and the lightning miracles hit harder.
It's still support oriented, though.

Took me about five or so tries to beat them. I figured out that the best time to blow Pyromancies on Ornstein is when you still have Solaire to act as a distraction, and that you can block literally all of his attacks and roll through the rest. Not to mention that he loses the ability to walk around the pillars when he's huge and you can get a bunch of free hits on him if you can run between his legs and get behind him (as long as you roll away when he begins his butt stomp you should take no damage from it).

I finally got Dark Souls 3 a few days ago and finished it last night. I two handed a claymore in medium armor the whole time and raped the game. Phase 1 of Nameless King and Soul of Cinder were all that gave me much trouble. Now playing it again with casters it's pretty rough. Is it just me or are sorceries and miracles complete garbage this time? Tried a faith build first and found that lightning spears are weak as shit even with 36 faith and upgraded talisman. After that disappointment I tried a sorcerer and what a surprise, that's not as good as the previous games either. Still better than limp noodle miracles but much less effective in this third game. Playing casters start to finish in the other games was viable. This time it seems you're better off playing a full on melee build until late game and then changing to mage/cleric build at Rosaria when you have enough levels to get up to the 50 or 60 range for faith/intellect so you can actually do decent damage.

I never knew when you attacked, your thrust defence dropped a ton. Went from 22 to about -.9. So this is why thrusting weapons do so much damage especially with leo added on, I thought it was just the leo ring and general counter damage that did so much.

I gotta say, going back to DS2 after DS3 is fun. I feel like I'm getting WAY more options for armor and weapons and being able to dick around with my character more in interesting ways.

I miss having too many armors to pick from.
