I've set my homebrew and emunand up ages ago when there was still only one kind of CFW for 9.2, and today checking back i see all sorts of new shit.

Is it worth the effort to update all my hacks with the most recent versions? For what i use emunand right now (install and play pirate stuff) it works well enough.

The only system-unique bit is the 512 byte big keysector and you shouldn't need a custom compilation to calculate that, you should just be able to drop your otp.bin and the static input files on your SD card and run the installer which should fix everything from there on. Not only that but the tool is actually released and works.

I'm a little surprised AW ended up being the one to make it (given that the CFW is nothing but patches stolen from Rei/Cakes/competent people and "cleanups" that do nothing), but it's a sorely needed improvement.

A9LH installers are much simpler than that:
1. Edit and OTP-encrypt the keystore
2. Insert the stage 1 payload into FIRM0
3. Flash the keystore
4. Flash FIRM0
5. Flash a vanilla FIRM1
6. Flash the desired stage 2 payload
It's pretty difficult to fuck something like that up, even though delebile took the cheap way out and threw it together in a hurry.

There have been bricks resulting from the installer, though. Not many, but we've had a few in here. And looking at the code, it makes sense because the NAND backup restore it does only touches the first 1GB of the NAND backup (there's 1.2GB of used space in the N3DS NAND so no shit that the installer causes severe corruption for some people).

Also, there's one other major use-case that's currently half-finished which is solved by this thing: there's no way to actually update a9lh. There's still people stuck without screen init because they don't have a 9.2 EmuNAND to re-install a newer version with. dark-samus wrote a half-working updater but it doesn't really work.

It's actually 99% correct too, wow. The bit at the end is funny, that already exists but people pretty much ignored it (LCD-3DS does that with cetk's and can produce legit .cias from the CDN + a provided ticket DB, it's just a shitty batch file that calls FunkyCIA but the idea's solid and it works).

The two problems with that is that most of the ripped games are actually .3ds -> .cia conversions nowadays. That and the whole 9.6 seed crypto thing, but eShop repairs and the ability to cryptofix your own shit take care of that to some extent.

No, you're never going to get a "correct" ticket without actually buying it, that's the one part where Nintendo actually validates purchases. Someone with enough time on their hands and access to rips that haven't been horribly mutilated could easily put together a full ticket.db and a shitty menu to wrap around FunkyCIA2.

I've installed FE Fates Special Edition [JAP] on my n3DS with a .cia. I'm using braindump now to get the exefs and romfs eventually patch the romfs to get the English on there. You have to use NTR to play this, because it's the Japanese version of the game with an English script.

the emuNAND is on 10.7 and the sysNAND is on 9.2

both are US.
