From what I understand it was a few factors like past lawsuit trouble, Sega saying they didn't want anymore lawsuit trouble with the comics, more lawsuit trouble with the comics, and there are rumors that Archie doesn't really care much for the Sonic comics because its not really Archie and they wanted to focus on that.

Archie will probably go under shortly. They threw everything they had into that Riverdale show and it's not exactly a ratings success. All their reboots have failed as well, and the only Archie comics people get excited about now are the elseworlds spin-offs like Afterlife with Archie. They can't even keep consistent release schedules with the comics people actually want either.

Archie wont confirm it unless they absolutely have to.

Their ToS says that if a customer voluntarily cancels a subscription, they can either transfer it to another comic or just eat the cost. If Archie admits the comic is canned, they'd be obligated to issue refunds. Their plan is to string people on as long as they can so people get fed up with no news of new issues and choosing to cancel.

No it wasn't. Sega was bought over by another company that had never touched video games. The owner didn't even like video games, his son did (his son took over in 2015). They were fixing their shit since the buy over. It just took until about 2009 before they figured out how to make vidya and not fuck everything up. What timetables for games actually looked like and how much to budget for what type of project you want.

There's also the idea that you can pull very specific issues (e.g., for crossovers) and if you're shopping in-person you may look at other releases to grab while there. Metal's role is robot sonic, he's not evil. But the entire ideology of the early games is nature vs machines. Green Hill to scrap brain, a hedgehog vs a factory.

Scourge is an organic, he's literally the other side of sonic, he thinks, he feels everything, just the opposite. Metal doesn't feel he's just a robot programmed to kill. (unless you believe the OVA). Scourge wrecks his planet with nobody to stop him, as a parallel for if sonic went full evil everyone would get their shit kicked in because Sonic has MC Plot armour, which would be devastating if in bad hands.

Metal is a brilliant character, and for the games, which are primarily about overcoming obstacles, he's perfect. Scourge is a character study type reflection which works better for a story medium. They both have their places. Metal does have a god tier design though.

fucking hell, stop reporting this fake news. this comes from some random ass guy on a forum. they say he was "reliable" because he called the subscriptions at archie and the girl there said it was canned BUT subscription managers only know as much as we do. they just handle shit on the online store and since they saw the subscriptions for sonic were down they said that. and then he comes back to say his "friend" said they were canned. but anyone with a brain who knows how licensing works can tell this is fake as fuck. this just isn't how this stuff works and there's too much contradicting evidence to support that what he says is true
