Kindred Spirits on the Roof and Nurse Love Addiction, for example, were released at around 3-4x the price of Love Ribbon, and they have much more than 3-4x the length and quality. Ne No Kami is the same price, is also an independent project, and even it has more content and quality. If you want a Western example, you could look at A Little Lily Princess. Similar story there.

Nurse Love Addiction was retarded and Ne no Kami ends on a cliffhanger to get you to buy the next episode. It's also full of time wasting recaps that almost insult the reader since it's stuff that just happened. There's a reason no one here recommends it.

Kindred spirits is a $35 game and considered the best yuri visual novel of all time, so you'll be waiting for a long time if you expect something to top it. Lily Princess i'd consider good, but it's $15, not $10, and your mileage may vary on the amount of yuri it offers.

Some anons suggested Subarashiki Hibi a couple threads ago, so I played to the end of the English patch (2/3 of through Jabberwocky).

Would the first chapter be considered yuri? If I understand correctly, the Yuki personality, with no memories and fully believing that they're a girl, is trapped in his own mental landscape, meaning that none of the physical actions actually happened. Is a guy basically imagining two girls having sex (with no male involvement whatsoever) still yuri?

I find I have almost no interest in playing through a Little Lily Princess after finishing one route just because I know there's not going to be any adult content. The eponymous Blue Refection, a faceless male spirit that accidentally possess Hina-chan at the beginning of the game. However, the possession doesn't go quite right, and Hina-chan becomes a futanari. I know how SteamSpy works. Its numbers are not accurate. They aren't going to become accurate a month later either - games with less than 10K sales will always be wobbling all over the place. However, you can get an idea of the SCOPE of sales a game is making and how it compares to others. The number is absolutely not correct, but you can see the difference between 'this is off to a slow start', 'this is doing okay', and 'damn that's popular'. This is definitely doing okay.

I used the word "doujin" intentionally to refer to the japanese market. If you go on DLsite for example most games there are single heroine with one or two different routes.
It may not have made my point clear enough in the post you're quoting. What I wanted to say was that as far as independently developed games go, it's a lot safer to make smaller ones with less routes and that this has been a trend in the japanese market for a long time now. There are droves of such games aiming for a single niche/fetish and Love Ribbon fits in quite well with the trend.

How long is each route estimated to be once finished?

I feel like the demo doesn't give a good picture of what's going on, but I can't decide if I like Alpha or not. She kind of comes across as a horny bitch? Which is fine in itself I guess, at least she's forthright about it. I think the problem is that I can't relate to her as the MC so her inner dialogue feels jarring, and I'd relate better to her various conquests. Not much to be done for that, though. Finished Gravity Rush 2 yesterday, and while I wasn't expecting any yuri, it actually delivered quite a bit, especially with the ending.

Well, I usually do all endings. Although Cordelia's crush on Gil is canon in all routes. Most endings looked like something out of a otome game. They gayest one is probably Lionela's. But sometimes I think I'm the only one who even remembers her.

Rorona/Sterk is just canon as in Sterk really likes her. But the only route where she likes him back is not canon and she becomes a lolicon on the second game and a loli in the third one.
