In my first play through in an effort to accomplish everything and get every dialogue Max expressed an attraction to boys.

In my current play through no such dialogue. My first Max was bi my second Max gay.

The only time you can make Max reciprocate his feelings is the OPTIONAL kiss in the diner scene (depending on your choices before you don't even get this option while the option to kiss Chloe or not is literally unavoidable) and she cuts him off and says: ''I know'' coldly and in her journal and she uses kiss of the death care about word. It wasn't even a ''romance option'' or ''OMG, I'm into him'' the devs intention was to reward him rather than anything romantical and the conclusion is always the same: Max doesn't have feelings for him, there's no anything special between them. She sees him as a friend and nothing more than that.

Now if you didn't kiss Chloe, Max will write in her diary saying that she regret not kissing her. If you did kiss her, Max will say that she wants to kiss her again.
They made it pretty clear that she's interest on Chloe only.

I didn't just save Chloe for the /u/, I also did it because the whole "Chloe must die or the tornado destroys the town" was so fucking old and obvious people called it since the very first episode.

Funny how the universe doesn't give a fuck that Kate (possibly) dies when she shouldn't, but gets so pissy about Chloe living when she shouldn't it sends Max a vision of the tornado even before she saves Chloe's life.

The end choice was cheap and obvious and lazy and it was never properly justified (Warren blurting out CHAOS THEORY after hearing Max' brief explanation doesn't count as 'justified') so, fuck 'em. Chloe lives and a bunch of buildings get destroyed.

That's the point. Max has no idea what's going on and is just trying to roll with the punches. If you pay attention, the characters present several other theories than just lol chaos theory. For instance, Chloe at one point suggests the hurricane is caused by Rachel's vengeful spirit.

Exactly. Max doesn't see the same words floating in front of her that we do which explain exactly what is happening. She has no good reason to believe she has any influence on a freaking tornado. It is crazy to put the responsibility of all those lives on her.

Though, you could go into the Bay ending assuming that Max is just trying out that option to confirm if it would work, and only decides not to go back after she sees that it did save the town. I'm not sure her reactions fully fit that narrative, but it does still make sense.

If the hint you're referring to was the quick glimpse of someone working on Max in the announcement video, though, that wasn't a hint. That was just old footage. I watched it carefully and the Max they're working with is in the Blackwell dorm courtyard, i.e. it's from the first game.
