It is a pretty typical superpower battle harem with fanservice, I guess. You probably don't want to read/watch it if you can't stand those. The side lesbians aren't around for the whole series, their story arc happens mostly in volume 11 of the manga and season 2 of the anime (with some differences between the two) and ends tragically, though we get some really sweet moments before that happens. I really loved their relationship, but I'm a sucker for yuri with a frail/sickly girl.
I never actually followed the manga anyway, I was just waiting for it to end because it was pretty obvious from the start that the ending would have some sort of deus ex machina to undo all the tragic shit that happened. Lo and behold, there it is.

First episode of Bakuon has a fair amount of gay in it. Main character really seems to have something for breasts, she is constantly checking them out and uses them as handles when she rides on the back of another girl's motorcycle. There was a handholding moment too and a rivalry was set up.

Not sure why someone was complaining about the talking bike so much. It was pretty minor.

I only just watched the second OVA yesterday and it was definitely not up to par with the first. I know I'm real late to the party, but I'll spoiler tag my complaints just in case

Everything with the townie kids was a waste of time, and those characters had no redeeming qualities whatsoever since their only roles were to personify some minor part of the archaic normie perception of witches and activating the monster of the week (I see there's a power creep in action here with the baddies because the dragon exploded in OVA 1 and the giant in this OVA just went the fuck back to sleep but that's just a side observation).

The lack of Akko x Diana interaction, save for butting heads that one time after class or something, and that mini lecture about Chariot in the middle of the night at a location where Akko could literally only travel to and from BY FOOT because she still can't fly (I'll let that slide since she's technically a Moonlandian muggle and still needs training), which might have been a good opportunity for Diana character development since she could have offered to fly her back to the dorms because of the curfew she herself had mentioned and then that Chariot lecture could take place on Diana's broom midflight, among other things, left me feeling pretty empty after the show was over. I know this was supposed to be the OVA that focused on the bond of Akko, Sucy & Lotte and some world building, but it could have gone a lot further

I watched Anne Happy, Macross Delta, Onigiri, and Ragnastrike Angles today.

Anne Happy definitely has the yuri vibe.

I thought Macross Delta might be all girl, but it turned out that a blue hair with hairpins is a trap and a male (there are a lot of males that look like females by whoever did the characters for this show) that being said a lot of the girls could definitely have girl-on-girl relationships going on, none show any interest in the guys, and the girls look to be the main characters with only their sex having powers.

Onigiri and Ragnastrike are extremely short shows, so its unclear yet how yuri they may be.

Reading manga is more immediate, this is the same with just about any adaptation. You can read way more in the 20 minutes per ep than the anime so seeing inside Sumi and Kazama's heads with a slow pace isn't for everyone. I liked that it was slow though. It made it that much more personal.

The Macross franchise always has three main themes: Mecha, music and love triangles. So going in you can expect the kind of thing between the MC and the two main girls.

That being said, Frontier did spawn a small Sheryl/Ranka ship following. Despite being love rivals the way they interact can be really gay, Sheryl being quite sensual and often say how cute Ranka is and Ranka just blushing since she is a huge Sheryl fan. Even some of the official art plays it up.

As for Delta, Kawamori did say some interesting things on the romance aspect such as the Delta symbol being a broken triangle and it symbolizes a unique twist to the love triangle. Another time he said there will be multiple love triangles on the series. Whether its /u/ relevant will remain to be seen.

I'd also recommend AKB0048. A lot of stuff. I started a new playlist a few years ago when I read Umineko and since then I have just added anything I liked to it. Nearing 800 songs now.

I have at least five tracks from pretty much everything Yuki Kajiura has been involved in. Also have the soundtracks from Yuuki Yuuna, Cross Ange, Yuri Kuma, both Madoka psp games, the second Nanoha fighting game, Kindred Spirits, Eternal Senia, Symphogear and some of Claymore's. I never realized how gay my playlist was.

For nonweeb stuff I have Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Amon Amarth, Dio, Mars Volta, and some of the soundtrack from Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines.


One thing I really like but can't find more of is kind of industrial horror stuff, not sure what to call it, but things like Rahu Goldenslaughterer from Umineko or Denpa Relay from SubaHibi. Horror is pretty unpopular in anime though and nonexistent in yuri so I rarely find any.

I have no problem with Risa preferring girly girls, and it's lucky for her that Yuuka is not actually a tomboy, so them ending up together is fine in my book.

However, the drama itself was written very poorly, that it arrived at the right conclusion for all the wrong reasons. Risa blamed Yuuka for her own inability to see tomboys as girls, and Yuuka actually bought that, which is ridiculous. "Just kids" is not an excuse for a story's bad message. Whatever the author intended, the fact is that it delivered a terrible moral lesson due to the way it was written.

It's entirely possible to write a realistic story consists of only bad people, whose actions are wrong, and yet the readers can still tell that the moral of the story is "you should not do these things." This yuri manga, on the contrary, is nothing like that. The protagonist made a wrong exclamation, and it was well-received by the heroine. No repurcussion from the heroine nor any other character, only agreement and a happy-ever-after. Don't forget the oneshot this series was based on before it got serialized had a het setup that was very clear about the direction it wanted to go in. I don't know why it was changed to remove the romance but I highly doubt the author even considered yuri as an option. So far the main series has no romance but there is a lot of closeness between the characters so the girls get close with each other and with the guy, too. Well that's still a whiles away now and at least if people are aware there's issues they can offer help other than yp just seeming like another distant translation group crumbling for mysterious reasons in the sky.

A community volunteer site was suppose to operate on the basis of having no timelines, milestones or even fixed headcount. I thought that was the point of YP.

But it seems that like most internet group efforts, YP is squarely helmed by a couple of individuals and as soon as attrition occurs within this tiny group, everything else just collapses.

I hope a few things occur

1. Someone or group can take over the operation and maintenance of the website, or at the very least, archive the the forums

2. Dynasty staff can finally allow scanlation of ongoing YP projects that were done by other groups onto the Reader, giving visibility and keeping up the interest of those series

3. Someone win the fucking lottery and fund our community into the next century.
