Started good, but lost speed at some point.
They should have explored the process of developing vocabulary a bit more. Also the theoretical physician should have had a more important role, figuring shit about the aliens.
That line at the end where he says he was more amazed to discover Louise than the aliens was the most beta thing ever said.
Also, as most alien movies, the aliens are too unimaginative and sterile. They don't feel real enough, their ship is all clean and uniform, it's always the same problem for these movies. I watched this last night and today at a restaurant I was looking at a bottle of pizza oil on the corner of table, and noticed all the details on the bottle label that, to an external alien eye, would be complete non-sense. There is a calorie table, but there is also a logo to say its ecofood and there was a brand name, and some image, etc. When it comes to alien things in movie, it's always so blank and dead looking. People doing these movies shouldn't be affraid to add useless, unexplained details. Yesterday, when watching the movie, I was thinking out it would be nice if their ship had a yellow line running on one wall, for no reason that we know of. Just make it more messy, make it more strange. Black squids in a black rock-shaped ship is not original, and if it is, it didn't feel real, it felt like a prototype of an alien society.

Are we witnessing the dawn of pointlesskino?
>if it doesn't have action scenes and superheros in it then it's pointless
>if it doesn't have a "deep meaning" then it's pointless
watch more movies, retard
also, the "dawn of pointlesskino" how you put it was probably during the rise of french new wave
>>79532839
>>dawn
9-11 was a long time ago op
>>79532907
Not talking about action scenes and superheros, it's just that all these films just sort of flop around and fizzle out instead of end. Not saying it's necessarily bad, just pointless.

real question is how it did in china
>African episode shows a country ruled by a brutal dictator who oppresses his people
>Latin American episode has a hot bisexual young man and a scary Narco with a cheating wife
>American episode has an obese woman who has to be craned out of her apartment

He should go to Behemia and watch as nobody gives a shit.
This show is too good for this board. Just ignore it and go back to shitting your pants over superficial dreck like The Leftovers.
Why do people associate Travis and Taxi driver with /pol/? literally none of the killings are racially-motivated, Travis never expresses any racist sentiments. is it just because they find him cool?

>Why do people associate Travis and Taxi driver with /pol/? literally none of the killings are racially-motivated, Travis never expresses any racist sentiments. is it just because they find him cool?
Travis is a classic ISTP, which ISTPs make a good percentage of the board. It has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with how he feels and acts.
He's a man pushed to the brink which a lot of us can identity with.
>>79531756
His killings are socially motivated though. And social issues are very much related to politics which is what /pol/ is mostly about.
Although yes, racial issues are also social & political issues.
>>79531756
/pol/ consists of the lowliest scum of society, they are the ones Travis would want to get rid of

This whole thing is a giant mistake. We can only hope that it well be so bad, that it will be good again.
Who the fuck is this movie for? Nothing about this movie's marketing feels tonally consistent, like the studio has no idea who the target audience for this is.

Power Rangers is for kids, anon. This looks like a kids movie
What was his fucking problem?
trips lynch will fall into a meat grinder
Probably some form of mental disorder. Makes for good movies though. I think he's better with long form stuff like TV shows though as a lot of his movies have over an hour of deleted scenes while already being close to 3 hours.
I hope the new Twin Peaks season is good. Apparently we'll be able to watch 4 hours of it on the day it premieres, 2 hours on the Showtime channel, and then 2 more hours online streaming.

made-me-check/10
It's pretentious and boring.
>>79530578
How clever do I think it is? It was a very simple, straightforward premise. I was very entertained by the whole process of finding common language with an alien species, rather than fighting them. I wasn't bored, and I didn't get the sense they were trying to pass it off as anything deeper than it was.
ITT: Slow faggots who missed the cinema premiere and had to wait until the blu-ray release.

I know that my expectations should be managed carefully since Sony Pictures has a tendency to botch things up pretty horribly, but they are promising that the reboot will be an actual adaptation of the book which is something that the book's fans have been waiting to see for years.
Starship Troopers was the dream project of many great directors over the years (including Steven Spielberg) but somehow it fell into the hands of Paul Verhoeven, who didn't even like the book. The real concern I have is if there's any good directors out there who can stand the idea of working with Tom Rothman, and whether Rothman and Amy Pascal have any "great new ideas" that they are going to mandate into the movie.
The thing that gives me hope is that that their theses behind rebooting the franchise is to go back to the book rather than remaking Verhoeven's movie, so at the very least we hopefully can expect it not to be another self-parody political satire, but I don't know if I'm giving Sony too much credit or not.
