Most of the Mixels are a good start for creature of robot builds, what with the versatile joints that many of the sets share.

The theme-based colors and accessories of 2016's Mixels also lend themselves to a bit of genre building, such as the swashbuckling bits that you can find in the Pyrratz.

In what regard would exo-force have been a mistake? Granted, the human minifig characters faces were a tad odd, but certainly not the worst looking minifigs lego has produced (The clone wars minifigs are infinitely worse). Back in the 80s a bunch of independent comic book publishers got the rights to publish manga titles in the US. For some bizarre reason, instead of just translating them, they commissioned new stories and new art that half-assedly tried to copy the original style of the manga.

Yes. No official confirmation on why, but most suspect it's because the line didn't sell as well as TLG thought it would.

It was deeply distressing for the fandom that the line never even got to complete the standard 3-year run that "big deal" playthemes are supposed to have.

It's thematically barely different from ninjago or nexo knights. Why does this company not care about a line that helped save them from financial doom?

Look at the lazy artist they hired to draw the g2 comics. The badly assembled DVD for the netflix show that has assets from the last bionicle series in 2010 on it. They didn't care.

>b-but ccbs sucks!
compare 2015-2016 bionicles to the average hero factory set you twat

Lego has more confidence in selling Nexo powers than mask packs apparently. Oh Bionicle was ok, but we want that star wars money~ They said there would be three years but cut it off at two. No real explaination. They don't make these kind of decisions usually off the cuff, why decide halfway through the first year that you want it cancelled? Lego didn't even give it a fucking chance.

What's next, the return of Jack fucking Stone?

A lot of people also suspect the Star Wars figs being a reason.
Let's be honest: your local stores are probably choke full with Lukes, Finns, Obi Wans, Poes and soon Donnies and Bazes because no one buys those overpriced fuckers that also never seem to go on sale, either.
And yet they still shit out more and more of them while Bionicle gets axed because it supposedly didn't sell well?
You can't tell me something isn't fishy here.
They're also probably easier to design, too, since you don't need to design new characters yourself nor do you have to include some unique features into them.
Just add the same fucking spring-loaded gun and gearbox into every set and be done with it.
>>
>>6092764
It's a portmanteau of "ninja" and "Lego".
>>
>>6092867
Is that confirmed or a (sensible) assumption?

I always thought it started out as a catchphrase the ninjas yell before using their spinjitzu powers (like "autobots, roll out") and became the name of the franchise.
>>
>>6092819
Had they not whored out a large hunk of their budget into convention masks and 8 solid gold masks, put just a smidge more effort in the advertising, and focused more on the new kids instead of having almost all the contests associated with the theme be for afols, it might've lasted.

And they made the decision more around the end of year one and just shat out year two after the fact, so really, they didn't give it a chance.

I don't care as much because it was Bionicle, but just because they seem to be running Constration as a whole into the ground.

Part of me kinda regrets that Chima happened during my dark ages.

Well, technically it was wrapping up by the time I came back, but it just didn't appeal to me. I couldn't even tell the difference between Chima or Ninjago for the longest time if I only saw the builds without minifigs.

Yeah the builds were for the most part uninteresting, the only sets I actually bought were a few of the fig packs and most of the Legend Beasts, bricklink'ed the rest of my figs. It was still better than Nexo at least, nothing from that is interesting.

Not at all flawless, but it was at least its own story that wasn't just Episode IV again and it did a bunch of stuff that wasn't in a Star Wars movie before and was interesting to see.

Yes. Merlok 2.0 lets you play as the five knights, and scanning Nexo Powers from sets, the TV show, or elsewhere gives your knight various powerups.

Scanning powers into Merlok 2.0 gives you their names and a little image showing what they do. Using them in a level actually shows you a little animation in the battlefield, and the actual in-game effects depend on the power.

Your picture is a pretty bad example, and only seems to use CCBS in the limbs. Also, the fact that I can't critisize CCBS without someone bringing up the autistic argument of "you don't have any imagination" is old and simply not true. I never said I couldn't MOC with CCBS, plenty of people can do that and make the system work just fine. I'd even go so far to say that the system is pretty good for MOCing.

However, the way Lego was using the system was atrocious. Pretty much every G2 needed some kind of modification to make it not shit, and I didn't feel like I needed to do that all the time in G1. Akida, UtD, and some of the beasts were pretty good, but the vast majority were just some shitty variation of "attach the same shell pieces to the same skeleton". Or just forget about shell pieces and make the villains skeletons. The Makuta combiner was also an absolutely fantastic set that didn't follow the shitty skeleton base that CCBS wants to use.

It's not really surprising why the sets didn't sell.

If you have enough time in berlin definitely go to this store:

https://www.sadk-berlin.de

It's a store where the owner has sorted his bricks by piece and you can buy single bricks instead of sets. Basically bricklink irl. He also has some really cool old sets there. Went there last time i was in berlin and left significantly poorer...

I think this is the case of them getting their hands on the concept art in advance with finalized designs, a perfect example being the U-wing kit has that wing gimmick which I assumed was a LEGO play feature and not something it does in the movie.

I'm a big minifig collector too so the variety is comes with was really nice.

Here are some of the smooth transparent bricks that I have. The 1x2 bricks with no tube are this piece:

All of my old 1970s-era trans-clear 2x4 bricks are smooth. I'm almost positive I have some trans-clear 2x2 slopes that are not frosted.

Included at no extra charge is the tiny hair or fiber inside the yellow brick that I didn't notice until after I got the picture on my computer.

How much profit do they make from selling at the RRP, if you're allowed to say?

How have I missed this up until now?

Will Lego finally do what third parties have been doing for years and make goddamn trench coats.
>>
>>6096036
iirc the trench coat piece is in the movie but we haven't seen it in any of the sets or CMFs so far.

My hunch is, they did it for the movie because it's easy (being CGI) but LEGO vetoed it for real sets because you'd need to remove the minifig's arms to put it on and you're not supposed to do that technically

If you dont know what you are doing, or have a badly placed set of arm holes, maybe.

The point of his post was that TLG's official policy is that once the arms are clicked into the torso, they shouldn't be removed. Nobody is arguing that you can't remove them.

I've been considering that set for myself. I think the idea isn't so bad, but it's small and needs a few add ons to make it work. I'd either build up the top floor to be a mining area and use the slide to move the raw gems down to the shop to be worked on, or extent the mine cart track area to a shaft for gem extraction. Then move the storefront bit so somebody could walk up instead of being behind the mine cart rails. At ~$21 i'd say you did pretty good.
