our local meta is very high PS heavy, so i will either go VI, or something completely different.

>except for Stealth Device on Brath.
why, what's wrong with it? what would you suggest in order to increase his survivability?

>If he gets stressed, he becomes too predictable
i don't know about that, as the only red maneuvres are 1 and 2 turns, plus a white k-turn as an extra 'fuck you' to anyone trying to out-fly him.

that being said i could see this list working pretty well with predator and TIE MK2 over VI and stealth device, but seeing how i will very likely encounter high PS ships i REALLY wanna make sure i get to shoot first

there is this guy here who runs this 3 PS9 rebel list. super annoying as it is based around spiking out your most expensive ship with torps and then win off the back of that.

Force Wielder

A force user specialized in melee combat.

Class Features:

Hit points

Hit Dice: 1d8 per Force Wielder level

Proficiencies:

Armor: None

Weapons: Simple weapons, and all Martial Melee weapons.

Tools: None

Saving Throws: Strength, Dexterity

Skills: Choose two from Acrobatics, Athletics, History, Insight, Galactic Lore, The Force, Stealth

Wealth: 500 credits.

Unarmored Defense

beginning at 1st level, while you are wearing no

armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals

10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma

modifier.

Force User

beginning at 1st level, you have learned to draw

on The Force through meditation. You may

prepare a number of 1st level Force Powers as

shown on the Force Wielder table; does powers

can be used as many times you want as long as

you don’t use a higher level Force power slot to

activate them
>>
>>49680337
Preparing and using Force powers 2

nd and higher

level force Powers the Force Wielder table shows

how many Force Power slots you have to activate

your Force powers. To use one of your force

powers of 2nd level or higher, you expend a

number of force points to create a power slot of a

given level, and then us that slot to use a power.

You can't reduce your force points total to less

than 0, and you regain all spent force point when

you finish a short rest. You prepare the list of

Force powers that are available for you to use,

choosing from the Force Power list. When you do

so, choose a number of force powers equal to

your Charisma modifier + 1/3 your Force Wielder

level, rounded down (minimum of one power).

The powers must be of a level for which you have

Force power slots. For example, with a Charisma

of 14, your list of prepared powers can include

four powers of 2nd or 3rd level, in any

combination. If you prepare the 2nd

-level Force

Power Force Speed, you can use it using a 2

nd

-

level or a 3rd

-level slot. Using the Power doesn’t

remove it from your list of prepared Powers. You

can change your list of prepared powers when

you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of

Force Powers requires time spent in meditation:

at least 1 minute per force power level for each

Power on your list.

Force using Ability

Charisma is your Force using ability for your Force

power, since their power derives from the

strength of your convictions. You use your

Charisma whenever a Force Power refers to your

power using ability. In addition, you use your

Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw

DC for your Force powers you use and when

making an attack roll with one.
>>
>>49680346
Power saving throw DC = 8 + your proficiency

bonus + your Charisma modifier

Power attack modifier = your proficiency bonus +

your Charisma modifier

Battle Strike

starting at 2nd level, when you hit a creature with

a melee weapon attack, you can expend one

Force Power slot to deal extra damage to the

target, in addition to the weapon’s damage. The

extra damage is 2d8 for a 2nd

-level Power slot,

plus 1d8 for each power level higher than 2nd, to

a maximum of 6d8.

Unarmored Movement

starting at 2nd level, your speed increases by 5

meter while you are not wearing armor or

wielding a shield. This bonus increases when you

reach certain levels, to +7.5 meter in level 6 +10

meter in level 10 +12.5 meter in level 14, and +15

meter in level 18

At 9th level, you gain the ability to move along

vertical surfaces and across liquids on your turn

without falling during the move.

Fighting Style

you adopt a particular style of fighting as your

specialty. Choose one of the following options.

You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than

once, even if you later get to choose again.

Dueling

when you are wielding a melee weapon in one

hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus

to damage rolls with that weapon.

Great Weapon Fighting

when you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an

attack you make with a melee weapon that you

are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the

die and must use the new roll, even if the new

roll is a 1 or a 2. The weapon must have the two-
handed or versatile property for you to gain this

benefit.

hm, there is truth in what you say, so i might actually just go predator/tie mk2 instead. not a fan of hull upgrade.
>>

It's filler and a guaranteed extra hp. Stealth Device can fail on the first shot, 1 hull is just 1 hull.

Predator I like on Rex, that's what I took on him when I got top 8 at regionals 2(?) years ago, whenever Defenders first came out.

Rebel PS9 alpha strike is going to be slow/predictable as fuck Xs and Bs, I'm assuming, so you don't even have to out-PS them. Blocking to deny actions is easy enough and normal ties rip them apart. If you want to be cheeky, Vader/Fel and a healthy bid means he can't touch you, or just go VI/engine Chirpy.

it was 2 X wings and airen cracken i believe, one of the X-wings was biggs, and i can't remember the other guy, but airen cracken at adaptability.

exactly why i don't like it. while 1 extra hull is nice, it doesn't do anything more, and that for 4 points unless maybe you have shield regen
>>

I think that's the idea. In the same way modern vehicles are overly bulky and try to 'look cool as fuck' by putting vents everywhere (I assume you haven't seen the 2016 Mustang) more than being functional.

It's why the current Dodge Charger is literally a mom car.

My AoR players blindsided me with the most awesome reference ever.

The pilot got his hands on a old swingwing Z-95 mk.1a few sessions ago (stole it from a starfighter scrapyard) and he and the engineer decided to add some modifications. They gave me a note with a bunch of stuff they wanted to add/modify during downtime including
>extra engine
>enhanced powerplant
>replace wing blasters with pop-down hidden rotary cannon
>enlarge ordinance bay for more types of missiles
>stealth system scavenged from a downed a-wing (from the same scrapyard they stole the Z-95 from)
>cockpit elongated to make room for copilot
>two rear maneuvering surfaces to get better in-atmo agility
They also named the soon-to-be-modded Z-95 "TurboNexu"

There's a reason why Longprobe Y-wings remained in use for years after the baseline Ys were retired. A-wings were also frequently used for recon roles. Hell, the very first A-wing mission in X-Wing was a recon run just to demonstrate how blisteringly fast you could go.

water (and most other liquids, as far as i know), doesn't compress under pressure.
a lot of the energy of a blast in a gasseuos environment (like air) is lost in the compression of the medium, whereas in a liquid medium all of your energy disperses outwards, in other words: your blast.
>>
>>49681777
I'd love to get a Longprobe title for the XWM Y-wing
Maybe have it remove torp and turret slots but add either two System slots or System + extra Mod slot.

In the pack would be a system that lets you check a enemy dial if you have a TL on it and a Longprobe-Only System that waives the Torp+Missile requirement for Long-Range Scanners

Put in a pilot that can hand out TLs like candy to friendly and you have a neat Longprobe Y-wing upgrade box

I've been here before talking about an idea for running a post Endor SW RPG that follows my own cannon that may parallel elements of EU and New Cannon without necessarily following either.
Well I had to consider how I would depict the NJO.

Here's what I got for things the NJO will do differently from the OJO:

>Members who join the order must make that choice themselves.
The thinking here being that by having it be a strictly voluntary its members will be more dedicated to the ideals of the Jedi order, as opposed to taking them at childhood where they had these ideals thrust upon them whether they like it or not, risks having members of the order who are possibly resentful of it.

>Emotion is not the enemy, only obsession.
Thought here: Repressing one's emotions is not healthy, any psychiatrist will tell you that, by trying to repress these feelings they could fester into something dark, or leave you unprepared to handle these feelings later. It's okay to be angry, or scared, as much as it's okay to feel joy or love. The challenge here is to still be able to recognize in yourself when these feelings are turning into something negative and addressing it. Even dispassion can lead to the dark side if it is left unchecked, as it can turn to apathy.

> forming relationships outside the order is both allowed and even encouraged.
I believe This was a huge misstep of the OJO, as its those loved ones that can create an emotional anchor to help keep us from going down a darker path. It also makes members live within the galaxy rather than outside of it. By preventing bonds like this from forming the OJO wound up cloistering themselves within their temple and becoming more and more disconnected from the rest of the galaxy, and how can you expect to keep peace in the galaxy if you no longer understand it's workings?

I realize that this is my own imagining so I could do whatever I want, but I still want to know how a more die hard SW fan would feel about these changes?
>>
>>49683328
You're honestly not doing much more than emulating the classic Legends NJO (when the NJO is handled by a good writer). And that's not a bad thing. A chill, bro-tier NJO is best NJO.
>>
>>49683328
All that is pretty much what the NJO already did in the old canon though actually.
Luke didn't follow the old order's way of doing shit because in-universe he didn't have a lot of info to work with and so just made stuff up as he went off of what he remembered his teachings were like, and out of universe because the new Jedi had been established for years before we even knew anything ABOUT the old Jedi Order.

Yeah, the NJO is at its best when it's laid back and down-to-earth. /swg/'s image of an ideal Jedi Order is pretty much Luke Skywalker, Kyle Katarn, Rahm Kota, and Jolee Bindo sitting in a gentleman's club with glasses of whisky, trading stories and laughing it up. Sometimes Mara comes in and provides raunchy commentary on her and Luke's incredibly active and kinky love life.

It's a hybrid card/dice game where you build a team of characters (or mooks) from the movies, a deck of 30 cards. And then you fight them by rolling aforementioned dice and playing aforementioned cards in combinations to deal damage to your opponents team of characters.

Some folks compare it to Dice Masters, but that comparison is surface-level only. The game has as much difference from Dice Masters as it has similarities to it.

Admiral: General Dodonna
Objectives: Most Wanted, Fleet Ambush, Minefields.
Ships:
>Mc80 Battle Cruiser
Mon Karren, SW-7 ion batteries, XI7 Turbolasers, Spinal Armament.
>Nebulon-B Support Refit
Salvation, Tactical Expert, Turbolaser reroute circuits
>Nebulon-B support Refit
Tactical Expert, Slaved turrets
>MC90 corvette B
Jaina's Light, Intel Officer, Overload Pulse.

Fighters:

Y-Wing x2
X-Wing x3

So, fellow XWM fags... I bought the "dead on arrival" Tie/sf, and ran Quickdraw in a list with Omega Leader, Zeta Leader, and Zeta Ace last night. My opponent fielded Asajj, and a pair of PS 3 Crackshot Fang Fighters.

I'm putting this out there right now, the SF is not a shit-tier ship. This thing is pretty nice, and fills an interesting slot for Empire. My build for Quickdraw was Rage, Tie Mk2, Special Forces title, and Electronic Baffles. It flew like a kamikaze comet and burned up in a blaze of glory, the highlight of which was ending up at Range 1 to Asajj, using Rage, turning one of the Stress tokens into damage and instantly firing with 4 dice, and then turning around and attacking again during the combat step! All said and done, Quickdraw dealt a nice chunk of 5 damage during that exchange, and would have done more had I not stupidly parked her in front of both of the Fangs... at Range 1.

This ship's awesome. I don't give a shit what anyone says. Empire needed a small ship with a system slot that wasn't either the Punisher or Phantom!
>>
>>49684753
You forget theres a really shitty mentality in XWM that comes from games like 40k in that the meta revolves around 3 or 4 "optimal" lists when the game is one of the more balanced ones there is. Ive often seen people at tournament being shat on for having non-meta lists but placing well anyway. Its about if you can use the ship well, not many ships are useless
>>
>>49684368
The problem is that my favorite list (Dash + Corran) folds hard to ordnance.
I was thinking of bringing a safer build: Miranda+Braylen+Biggs, even if I don't have as much experience with it.
>>
>>49684816
This is mostly why I refuse to play tournaments/at the club anymore. Only with friends. Im sick of a new wave coming out with some new super good ship and 90% of people running that exact list for a month and a half
Then its back to palp aces
>>
>>49684753

The /sf is actually turning out to be a sleeper hit from Wave 9, I think. Because it doesn't play a lot like some of the popular Empire concepts, people thought it would be DOA (And because FFG has had some fuckup with shit like JM5k and Syck or some other earlier wave ships, everybody is looking for the thing which is going to be the next thing - bad or good) but response from the field is that it's actually really useful and great for a lot of things. I'm definitely interested in getting one.

XWM is actually a pretty decent game though, as in the hands of the right player or right situation you can still use almost anything, with the exception of maybe a few individual pilots. If you can afford it, I've heard people swear by Syck swarms in Epic where you have points to spare.
>>
>>49684850
Dash and Norra (PTL, EU, R2-D2, Title, Tail Gunner) is a rape train with no brakes.
>>
>>49684816
Clearly I haven't forgotten that shitty mentality. I bought the SF anyways despite people bitching about it, with the idea that I was going to run it anyways.

I think the biggest problem to that competitive mentality, is the idea that you have to be able to soundly beat the shit out of the latest big shake-up. Whether that's Fat Primary Turrets, B-Wing spam, Twin Laser Turrets, triple U-Boats, or Palp Aces. And yeah, a lot of that comes from the ex-40k crowd who are used to (reliant upon) building lists that outright destroy the current "worst list to face".
>>
>>49684753
I've been shit talking the SF on The Kessel Run since we saw its dial. Mostly because it's not what I thought fit the SF (which it still doesn't lorewise). But after playing it, it's a pretty unique ship and has been fun so far. I don't know where it fits, but I'm enjoying the ride.

Ran QD with Draw Their Fire in a Howl mini swarm, was not disappointed.

>>49684850
Play what you want, they both sound solid. Go in to establish a baseline, see where the meta/skill level is.
>>
>>49684871
Never had a problem with new wave bandwagoners at my lgs. People tend to be more creative at my store, and the tournaments we have. Triple U-Boats showed up, along with 4x TLT spam, or other flavor of the months. But usually it's new ship(s) and some other random stuff. And for all the Palp Ace lists we see, none of them look at all alike (aside from a limo with Sheev on board).
>>
>>49684921
Doesn't it have a similar problem, in that Dash goes down too fast to torpedoes to make an impact?
>>
>>49684889
I've seen people put Ion Cannon Tansari Vets to good use as part of an Atanni Mindlink squad. 23pts gets you a mindlink scyk with ion cannon, that can freely evade/lock/roll so long as something else is focusing.
>>
>>49684972
last tournament I went to, there were only 3 people out of 30 who didnt have uboats, tlt spam or palpaces. It was the last straw for me
>>
>>49685004
Not a lot of torps in my meta, so I can't say. that being said, clever Dashing (and possibly packing Kanan over Kyle) can protect you from a lot of that. It's a bad match up but part of x-wing is learning to do well in bad match-ups by playing smart. If you're really sweating it, maybe pack Countermeasures instead of EU.

Roleplaying makes it more fun, and I've seriously considered trying to run HotAC as the space combat for a SW roleplaying game. Otherwise, no GM is actually needed. You can just get 4 people together to play, and each of you is up against the enemy's random AI (uses a d6 for unpredictability).

Oh shiiit it's battle report time!
I went and hosted a small try-out-xwm-game at my university. These are the lists I used:
https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v4!s!3:1,3:-1:-1:;30:13:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed%20Squadron
https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Galactic%20Empire&d=v4!s!10::-1:-1:;17:-1:-1:-1:;28:-1:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed%20Squadron

It went pretty well! Maybe it would have went differently with players that knew what they were doing, but with the first-timers that played it worked out to a very even game. It also seemed to be a pretty good spot complexity-wise, both players got most of it pretty quickly.

Still not sure how to best explain the rules. Should one talk through all actions before moving on to explaining attacking?

Early on, the X-wing got double-teamed and lost all but one hull, but the first kill was a turn later when the already scratched Academy pilot TIE ate a well-rolled Proton torpedo. The X-wing, suffering crippling truster damage, limped along for a pretty long while, R2-D2 regging a total of 4 shield points while Soonthir desperately tried to knock the last hull of. After a few too many turns, the X-wing finally ate hot turbolaser, and thing didn't look so hot for the now shieldless A-wing. It still managed to take out Mauler, and it was down to a full-hull Soonthir versus one-hull Arvel. The match ended anticlimactically with arvel accidentally driving himself of the board with a misjudged 5-k-turn.

The players had fun, I had fan, will do again.
>>
>>49685999
Nevermind: I managed to fuck with the regular F-104 enough that it looked like the dorito variant. Now using that as a base for a SW fighter
>>
What happened to Jar Jar at the end of the prequels? Canon-wise.
>>
>>49686217
>Still not sure how to best explain the rules. Should one talk through all actions before moving on to explaining attacking?

I usually go through the basics (what the values on the pilot card mean, generally) and then guide them through a turn, explaining things as they crop up.
>>
>>49686217
BONUS CONTENT:
For shit and giggles I also brought along a scum list, to give the players some choice. Once I got to Uni, I took a second look at it and realized that it looked significantly more powerfull than then other two lists, so I didn't use it:

>>
>>49686645
>It's still an unsafe aircraft somehow made to be even less safe.
Good thing NATO eventually retired them from frontline service and built better planes, then.
>>
>>49686548
Yeah, sorta. If I had to put it in words, I'd say that I go like:
>These are the dice, they have x y and z symbols on them which mean a b and c, by spending some tokens you can modify your rolls
>These values on your pilot card determine initiative, how many dice you throw during attack and defense, your hp and so on

Then I'd go into the turn
>First thing you choose your maneuver, green and red mean this and this
>Then you reveal, execute your maneuver and perform an action, following ps order
>Get into some detail about how bumps are handled
>Explain what all the actions entail
>Finally combat, which at this point means just explaining firing arc, range modifiers and reminding them about spending tokens and the importance of actions

So, uh, yeah, I just hold their hand through a mock-up turn and then make them play a real game, X-Wing's so easy to explain that as long as I stand by to clear any doubt that's all I need to do.
>>
>>49686700
Huh, explaining asteroids would fit-in with the bumping rules first and the range rules later, forgot about them
>>
>>49686700
Explaining basic attacking and defending before actually talking about maneuvering doesn't sound like a bad idea. What got me the most was explaining actions while talking about movement, since focus, evade and target lock requires them to know combat to be explained. I'll try doing it like you said next time, thanks!
>>
>>49686764
Yeah, I can see that, talking about focus tokens doesn't make much sense if they haven't seen an actual die.

I'd say that all they need to know at that point is what the dice results mean and what a fire-arc is, the applications of every action should be pretty self-explanatory at that point.

Yeah the Longprobe should be some kind of factory package you can just switch in-out for as needed. The fact it has decent sensors should alone warrant one two for a squadron of independent fighters which are operating without carrier support or even just a planetary defence force on the cheap that needs some kind of long range, mobile detection.
I often come up with the odd budget freighter with something of an AWAC's package on/in it for backwater system that has a long loiter time, big crew of sensor, comms and pilots that can run an around the clock surveillance and muster up interceptors if they come up with a likely target (usually PC smugglers!)

Capable individual fighters are great, but the command and control behind them will make them shine ie: Battle of Britain

Yeah. There are entirely too many people (espicially tourists and immigrants) who just don't get that the great lakes are more like an inland sea than the kind of lakes that they're used to. Hell, plenty of people end up dead on lakes here that are puddles by comparison and they STILL don't recover anything in most cases

In Florida it's 'Naked man holds up McDonald's with dildo and handgun'
>>
>>49690831
Probably TIEs and some cheap carriers.
>>
>>49690831
All the interceptors I can get my hands on- the local techs can likely strap some extra shields on to improve the overall survival rate. A mix of small carriers -Gozanti's and Quasar Fire class- plus a couple of Gladiator or MC30 Frigates to handle larger threats. After that it's just a matter of getting the local pilots trained up, and developing deployment and response plans sorted out so that in the event of an actual threat the fleet knows what to do and doesn't just panic and die.
>>
>>49690831
Honestly, I'd mostly go for imperial surplus, with a side of open-market and ex-reb gear.
So, probably a half-to-full-wing of TIEs, interceptors if I can get them, but /LNs otherwise, a squadron or two of X-wings/defenders, flown by experienced fellow mercs (loldisarmament would leave plenty of skilled pilots out of a job) for fast-reaction in the rare case that it's needed, plus two or three squadrons of Y-wings and preybirds, as I can lay hands on them, with other mercs flying them.
For capitals, a fistful of old consulars and discrils for picket duty, with external TIE mounts, plus a Carrack or two for running down fast boys. As a big iron flagship, whatever can be found in heavy cruiser+ size. A Victory if at all possible, but more probably a Strike, Vindicator or refitted Dreadnaught.
Again, partially crewed by politically unemployed imps, but with enough locals to keep things loyal
>>
>>49690831
YOu said NUrepublic so I assume this is Nucanon?

If so I have no real idea, most of the "Cheap capital ships" got pruned from canon.

Probably some fighter carriers, Carrakcs (Assuming they fill the same role as their EU originals, so far they've only been name-dropped) and maybe a CIS Munnificent Frigate or two (Either the larger one with the hanger or the smaller one that can only hide fighters inside the superstructure.)

Also we don;'t know the cost of planetary shield generators in Nucanon (And even for Legends the Wook doesn't seem to list the "Full planetary coverage" cost of shield generators anymore.)

On a simmilar note to >>49690831 's question:

I want to have it so after the fall of the Empire Naboo goes full imperialism themselves and starts conquering nearby systems to begin their empire (apparently their new king is a regular Space-Napoleon). I'm trying to come up with an idea of the composition of their forces; figure their go-to fighter will be the N-1, and I can see the J-type being stripped of it's diplomatic amenities for a few weapon mounts and serve as a pocket-carrier similar to how the Gozanti is used by the Empire. I am just a little stuck on what kinds of larger capital ships they would be fielding? any thoughts?

Also, ground forces... if Galactic Battlegrounds is anything to go by they'd probably be using a lot of infantry and speeders to make quick hit-and-run attacks and flanking maneuvers.
>>
>>49690923
Maybe only for headlines that's the case. But we absolutely get details about what the fuck happened in a crime, as far as anyone knows. Florida is batshit crazy. You can defend that shithole all you want, but it's always going to be the worst state of the union, and we don't even have to mention the fuckwit populace.
>>
>>49691335
>I am just a little stuck on what kinds of larger capital ships they would be fielding? any thoughts?
Everyone and their disliked brother-in-law has at least a few Dreadnaughts hanging around, and rich folks like naboo would probably have a fair few; they were sold to and built by more or less everyone.
Also, a few old victories and/or venators, of clone wars surplus would be fairly likely, as might be a couple private neb-Bs or carracks. Maybe even a single Imperator, courtesy of sheevy P, symbolically like
Also, definitely a decent number of CR-90s, DP-20s and Consulars, maybe rebuilt and upgraded by their custom works, but definitely a bunch of those
>>
>>49691335
They might still have a couple of captured Lucrehulk class ships left from the pre-clone wars events. Those things are huge, and work pretty well if you're trying to conquer stuff, since they have lots and lots of cargo space for hauling troops and equipment around. That could be the main backbone of an Imperial Naboo fleet, supplemented by some Dreadnoughts and a shit-ton of CR-90s
>>

Have you really had any luck with double Nebs? I really am not a fan of them, but I haven't been able to play much.

Legends question: Is reworking Mandalorian iron possible with something like a plasma forge? And how rare is Ultrachrome really?

I'm technically just looking for obscenely tough materials to make a cybernetic arm out of but I've gravitated towards lightsaber resistant materials since they have a tendency to be ridiculously tough and being able to just grab a lightsaber blade would be pretty awesome. Phrik is out of the question and Cortosis is far too brittle. I might just settle for a standard durasteel arm and plate it with a Cortosis alloy to make it energy resistant though.
>>
>>49691566
There's a few different things called "Cortosis" in the EU, whatever Darth bane was digging seemed like one of the Phrik components or Mando Iron since it was tough to ALL energy and even most physical force.
>>
>>49687361
Don't use double-framed canopies. Star Wars doesn't use those.
>>
>>49691566
>: Is reworking Mandalorian iron possible with something like a plasma forge?
I've always figured that it's not a question of equipment, but of special smith skills and of you're on mandalore/concord dawn or not. If you've got those two things, all's good, otherwise you're SOL.
A mando smith contact, with the aid of a good cyberneticist, could probably provide the wanted limb, but it would certainly be very dense and heavy. Without that particular assortment of friends, it ain't happening
It'd be rather an issue for the P.T required to use it, but it'd be possible, with time and appropriate chemistry
>>
>>49691335
why on earth would Naboo support space-Napoleon after spitting out a Galactic Emperor

Even during the Empire, it was just a holiday planet who wanted nothing to do with the Empire at large, its economy isn't based around imperialism, it has no need for money to enrich its citizens

That don't make no sense, unless some bighead wants to 'enrich' neighboring sectors
>>
>>49691586
I was going more for the Cortosis in other sources: energy dissipating and brittle but can be used to make an energy resistant alloy that's ridiculously common in KOTOR.

>>49691631
Heya shipfag.

I'm basing this more off of the fact that Beskar isn't indestructible since Exar Kun managed to work his way through the door of Freedon Nadd's tomb with his lightsaber and he noted that it was made entirely out of Mandalorian iron.

In Legends canon, Naboo still favored the Empire and had Panaka as its off. With no formal successor, have Panaka proclaim himself the new Galactic Emperor and set out to finish what Sheev started. A Naboo Thrawn (and Pellaeon to an extent) of sorts. Have Panaka crush all the sitting ducks and trade franchises in the Chommell Sector, and also provide free power to everyone.

I know I'm late to the discussion but I can confirm, literally my first tournament ever last June when I was semi-comfortable but not great at the game I made a squad with Ello Asty, Biggs, and Wedge(!), and I placed just above center center out of ~90 players - And this was just when the Contracted Scout shitstorm was at it's peak. Practicing about 4 games worth at my local store helped a lot. Meta-lists only accounted for about half of the makeup.

There is this problem with people online critiquing lists where they apply it to the context of taking it to Worlds or something where it's going to face the the most optimized squads flown by the best players. You can bring pretty much anything you're comfortable with to a tournament and do well, unless that list is severely, fundamentally flawed.

Naboo itself may not remain imperial, but other Chommel worlds or even its own moon may choose to remain imperial (with system specific nonaggression treaties, i figure there must be SOME wartime treaties for the treatment of POWs etc, why not toss in a few nonconflict zones?) Alternatively he could be a moff in exile.
>>
>>49692342
You could consider exploring other Imperial loyalists communities that went to the Remnant, like say Naboo imperial loyalists, Corellian imp loyalists, etc. I'm pretty sure a lot of major worlds had -some- Imperial supporters on them.

There, you find yourself stuck in a confusing waiting room of beige and grey, littered with boring pamphlets and uncomfortable plastic chairs. No, "Star Wars" is pretty much the best example and quintessence of a high concept story world, where the concept is "World War 2, BUT IN SPACE", and then adding the most basic and straight foreward conflicts on all three conceptual levels.

>Dark Side vs. Light Side ; Repression vs Freedom
>Evil Empire vs. Rebellion
>Luke, Leia, Han and their allies vs. The Emperor, Darth Vader and their henchmen

Star Wars is probably one of the most basic story worlds you could come up with, anyone who even heard the first 30 minutes of a "Transmedial story worlds" lecture could come up with star wars and write it's story bible. It' literally one of the first things you learn when you study film, especially of the hollywood variety.

And if you have a good, straight concept, you know it because you can just literally put its contents on its label and name it straight foreward. It says "Star Wars" and thats exactly what you get
>>
>>49691667
I've never thought it indestructible, just very dense, very heavy and very tough. Something that takes even a few minutes of dedicated saberwork would really kinda look 'indestructible' to joe jedi, even though it ain't, but in an average gun/saber fight it might as well look that way.
I've always thought of mandolorian iron as essentially being something where if you can dig up a smith who knows the stuff, a large chunk of dough or a very big favour, and can deal with 20-odd stone of armor alone, then you can be halfway to gunproof, but outside of very special circumstances, it isn't something viable for Joe gunman

The BoSS isn't "overpowered".
It's not an army, it's not an organization, it's not a faction, it's not a crime syndicate, it's not a megacorporation, it's not a government.
It's bureaucracy that keeps track of something extremely vital and constantly changing literally every moment of galactic civilizations' existence, but it IS bureaucracy nonetheless.

Asking the BoSS to wield it's influence is like walking into the DMV (your comparison, not mine) and then saying how they could totally engage in surprising in-depth manipulation of people by keeping track of so much of their personal information, enough that they could become a serious influence in the government. You know what'd they say to you?

>"I'm sorry Sir, you have to wait your turn. If you have a complaint, please sign out these forms and go to the complaints kiosk over there."

And then they'd go back to thanklessly working sixty hours a week with every asshole ever born while keeping track of and archiving everything nobody can be bothered to keep track of themselves and handing it out to the legal authorities so long as they signed the correct forms.

Why bother?
The BoSS wasn't loyal to the Republic. They didn't care. They weren't holdouts. They weren't loyalists. They're a bunch of randos sitting in space cubical doing the most boring job in the galaxy, and they already GIVE the Empire what it wants already for no charge and for free.
>>
>>49693142
>and then saying how they could totally engage in surprising in-depth manipulation of people by keeping track of so much of their personal information, enough that they could become a serious influence in the government

I work at my state's DMV, and this is more accurate then you think. In a couple of states they use it to mind data because owning a car is more common then being a registered voter or even paying taxes, so we have a REALLY accurate counting of how many people live in a state. We also can pretty easily find out things like if you're in debt or have bad credit or if your insurance sucks, at least in this state.

>On at least two occasions, the Bureau played an important role in ending two major galactic wars, forcing an end to the First Alsakan Conflict by threatening to withhold access to hyperspace beacons, and collaborating with a Jedi-led coalition opposed to the Pius Dea regime during the last of the Pius Dea Crusades, stranding much of the Pius Dea fleet in open space.

And what about this? Doesn't seem like a bored bureaucracy to me if it literally used its influence to push two conflicts into its favor. And not only.

>The Bovarks eventually went too far, actually threatening another BoSS clan with violence. BoSS responded to this crisis by threatening to delete the files for every starship in existence unless the Bovarks were forced to stop their aggression. Faced with the possible shutdown of interstellar trade, a coalition of planetary governments sent a fleet of over one thousand warships to the Nimban system. The Bovarks were forced to back down.[1]

Buy two core sets, one of each type, and split the ships. You won't regret it.

>What are good compliments to TIE Defenders
More TIE Defenders (3x Defenders is both good and fun), some other aces(Prototype Advanced, Interceptors, even Omega Leader on a TIE/fo), a mini-swarm(with two core sets you'll have enough ties), a Decimator, maybe a pair of bombers since if you're playing Defenders then you WILL have bombers too, due to Imperial Veterans being pretty much a necessity.
If you don't mind proxying cards (it's casual play, just print whatever you want) a Lambda with Palpatine is always a welcome sight.

>And what would be good for a K-Wing
The K-Wing lends itself to many roles, so this is a little harder to answer; Miranda Doni is a great lategamer that can splurge red dice or regen shields as needed, while the low PS generics are amazing blockers and bombers.Bombsbombsbombs go with bombs effective and always fun as fuck
Poe in his T-70 is a good wingmate for everyone and a great lategamer, pretty damn fun to fly too (the Talon Roll makes you fucking DRIFT AROUND CORNERS) (and you'll already have him if you buy the two cores)
Corran Horn in his E-Wing is an agile (though fragile) beast and real fun too, he WILL punish whatever ends up in his sights.
Rebel Aces would give you an A-Wing and a B-Wing with all the fixes they need, they are both damn good ships although they might struggle keeping up with the Defenders sheer efficiency.
Y-Wings are solid workhorses, they'll do the job. Double fun if you give them the title and use them as dogfighters.
Z95s are amazing fillers, any rebel player should have at least one of these laying around.
Falcon, Outrider and Ghost are all solid.
When it comes out, Heroes of the Resistance will be an amazing buy.
If proxying, Wes Janson shits on pretty much everything he sets his eyes onto, assuming he's properly supported.
>>
>>49688299
Colonel Vessery fucking LOVES TIE Advanced X1 wingmates with the ATC. The ATC requires a target lock to work, and so long as his wingmate have a target lock, so does he.

>Implying Star Wars isn't so simplistic you can't get to the same result by having had 5 minutes of education
>Implying you can't explain stuff with theories just because those weren't around when the object at hand was made
>Implying I am stupid enaugh to believe Lucas is a good filmaker with a worthy education instead of someone who accidentially did the right thing

It all means jack shit. Star Wars was still made with the concept of "WW2, BUT IN SPACE" because that was a return to the glory days of America after a failed Vietnam and exactly what the public wanted to see. You don't need to be a fucking genius or have read a theory that formalizes what has worked and was done by the people in the firm industry since the damn '50s, you just absorbed that as a byproduct of working in film if you were half decent.

>>49692996
Pretty silly from your side to imply that the director doesn't have the final say in this.
Also, the premise of the story informs the design, it doesn't even fucking matter if Lucas had anything to do with it, the designers also read the fucking script and wouldn't even need to be told that shit, the premise is so fucking simple you absorb it subconsciously without even having to realize.
Also they were on a very tight budget because Fox was dead broke and couldn't give Lucas a lot to work with, which is also why he split the script into three parts for three movies instead of telling everything in one movie, that way it all got simple enaugh to tell with the budget.
They re-used a ton of props from other films, thats why everything looks like repurpsed coffee machines and repainted MG42's. They had a ton of cheap reused WW2 props. With that premise and those props its not fucking hard to reach an unspoken subconscious consensus to fucking use WW2 design without Lucas or even the Artist and Prop Designers talking to each other about it. The subsequent movies that also reused a ton of Indiana Jones WW2 props.

You know those two instances of political influence? They literally predate the Sith.
I bet you even Palpatine is comfortable with the BoSS; I mean why not, they never bothered the Sith or Jedi during their wars before, not for ten thousand years. They didn't show favoritism during the Clone Wars either and arguably that was a lot more relevant to them because it wasn't (obstensibly) about disagreements over some weird religious groups and what color their laser swords should be.
The BoSS is probably willing to leverage over small private citizens on occasion, but entire governments? Back when those two incidents happened the Republic hadn't even entirely reached the Mid-Rim yet. I'm guessing all their time is spent trying to keep their jobs running rather then worrying about who to side with.

What'a your beef with them anyway? I'm pretty sure it's literally never come up in a game run by your or that you've played in or any wargame you'be done.
It doesn't even get talked about in the EU for the most part. What, did you read the wiki article and randomly get mad about them or something?
>>
>>49693249
>disagreements over some weird religious groups and what color their laser swords should be

I love the idea that the less educated in the galaxy think that this why Jedi and Sith fight because they don't really "get" the whole Force thing.
>>
>>49693249
>It doesn't even get talked about in the EU for the most part. What, did you read the wiki article and randomly get mad about them or something?
Pretty much. I dislike how its an obvious Dune reference (Navigator's Guild) but it doesn't really work in-universe because in Star Wars Sheev reigns supreme, he never bowed down to any bureaucracy. Hell, he shut it down as in the case of the Senate.

IF they never literally stopped wars, then I wouldn't have had a problem with them. Just a standard starship registration bureau. But forcing planets to bend to their will.. eh.. And what would deleting all the transponder codes do anyway? It's stated (even by you) that they turned over the codes to the reigning government, so what difference would it make? Wouldn't BoSS just be making itself irrelevant through it?
>>
>>49693247
Seconding this, Omega Leader also works great
>>
>>49693278
I'm thinking of experimenting with Cdr Alozen + Intimidation for my Tractor Vessery build. Reducing AGI-3 enemies to AGI-1 sounds utterly vicious. Not much use against Decimators or the Ghost though.
>>
>>49693276
So you're like a guy who's gone through life pretty much being okay with the shape he's in and the way he looks and how he has ten fingers but eight toes, only one day you look down and discover that you actually have TEN toes and you never noticed before and nobody ever told you and then you just get really upset at those two extra toes for sitting there and doing literally nothing at all their entire existence except sort of just being there because they don't fit your preconceived worldview?
BoSS is there to keep updating the records (hyperspace lanes drift and need updating because the Galaxy moves and all that), and Palpatine sees fit to leave them there doing that because it works just fine for them and they know not to ever get in his way.
Oh, and it's called the Imperial Ships and Services when the Empire takes over, BTW.

But yeah, the BoSS would be considered an "influencer" of people if they hadn't only ever done it 5000 years before the Sith existed as a culture and three thousand years before the guys who BECAME the Sith three thousand years later would even do their stuff.
>>
>>49693321
Not him, but holy shit the Republic and galactic civilization has been around a really fucking long time.
>>
>>49693346

Legends took old Ben's words that the Jedi had been guardians of the Republic for a thousand generations quite literally, that they had stood alongside the Republic for twenty five thousand years.

In both Legends and canon, the Sith formed out of a Jedi schism about seven thousand years before the events of the films.

What's the explanation for it's technology not actually getting any better all that time?
>>
>>49693415
You want the real reason or the in-universe reason?

Real Version; KOTOR.
In-universe; it actually has and you just can't tell.
>>
>>49693424
>KOTOR
Wait, what? The game? Why?
>>
>>49693427
Because it was set 3000 years prior to the movies but had the same general tech level as the movies, giving the appearance of stagnation.
>>
>>49693415
Well, in Legends, it DID experience a drastic change over time - until KotOR came out. Then BioWare went full-retard and decided to make everything look like it would fit in the prequels.

The Tales of the Jedi comics span about a thousand year period and things get kind of crazy. Ships are all jagged with no real shields, actual laser weapons that are backpack powered, lightsabers with external batteries, and overall things look a lot more primitive in the early stuff; the Sith even look like something you'd see out of the ancient Middle East and use weird talismans to focus their powers.

Canonically there's still a shift in technology, but it seems that artistically things are influenced a lot more by the Far East than they are by the Middle East; ancient Sith and Jedi look a lot more like Chinese soldiers and Japanese Samurai than the... kind of weird blend of everything that they were in Legends.

>>49693427
KotOR was drastically different in art style from basically everything set in that general time period that came before it.
>>
>>49693427
Basically, KOTOR took a lot of inspiration from the old Tales of the Jedi comic book (Bastila was originally going to be the daughter of one of the main characters but then wasn't because the Sunrider name is in legal dispute with a fucking car company or some dumb shit), but the comic itself looked VERY different from the actual films and emphasized the "ancient" nature of the time period, looking kind of like an early medieval period drama but in space.
In the comic book in question (which takes place less then sixty years before KOTOR 1) blaster's actually didn't exist yet and they had "pulse wave" weapons and "energy tubes" which were clearly a shitload cruder.
But come KOTOR1 and suddenly everything looks identical to the films less the sixty years later (complete with the Sith apparently being identical to the Galactic Empire right down to the British accented guys being their officers and their big triangle ships) because if they made the game that looked like the comic people would wonder why it doesn't look like the movies, see? TOR just made it worse and it seemed like it was almost MORE advanced then the later eras.
They even explicitly retconned the look of Basalisk war droids to basically looking like a thicker version of a StarViper-class ship because the war droids old look doesn't really resemble the later films at all.

So basically it USED to have visible technological progression but now doesn't anymore.

It starts with Darth Vader wanting to scratch nuts that aren't there anymore.

Unfortunately, neither did he.

Portman is too good for Star Wars, to be quite frank. I suspect she was either smothered by over-direction or couldn't adapt to the green-screen environment.

That can be said for everyone other than McGregor and McDiarmid, because Obi-Wan stopped giving a shit and Palpatine was actually a fun character.

But it actually genuinely did advance. The largest ship in KOTOR was about the size of a frigate of the Clone Wars and Empire era and had the firepower of a corvette.

>>49693819
Some of those people are just mediocre actors. Hugh Quashie, for example. And Hayden Christianson. Neeson did well, but suffered a little from the same thing.
