Since registration just happened at my Uni
Post the most bullshit course your Uni offers.
Mine: Graduate level course titled - Social Justice Pedagogy
Caribbean Spirituality, under Black Studies.
I actually want to take this
Gender studies
The History of the Jews in the Medieval and Early Modern Empire
How does anything stay in orbit for millions of years with all the stuff (asteroids and such) hitting it and slowing its movement down.
>>7887525
That stuff is very small
>>7887539
Like OPs dick
>>7887525
It does deter the orbit a bit but not too significantly.
It's true that minor fluctuations accumulate and the effects grow exponentially.
Any chemistry majors here?
>>7887294
Almost with a BSC in Chemistry; however, switching majors to Chem. Engineering.
Hello
Yeah, I'm specializing in medicinal chemistry, second year.
Why does NASA always spread false hope like this?
We know its never going to happen and will go to Mars anyway with shitty degenerate chemical rockets.
it's true though
what is a laser powered speceship ?
>>7886740
Like a solar sail, but propelled by a laser fired from the moon or orbit.
hey /sci/
do you like robots?
ya
Those look like oil derricks
>>7886025
me too. I work with them daily.
>>7886030
they are 6 axis motoman robots. shitty pic cuz lol HTC one a shit camera.
So does 0.999...=1 or what?
In the standard axiomatic system in which the decimal expansion is formalized, this is a theorem, yes.
/thread
x = 0.999...
10x = 9.999...
10x-x = 9x = 9
x = 9/9
x = 1
0.999... = 1
>>7882286
stop posting this. you're using the thing you want to prove in line 2.
Why do we care about categories that behave "like" the category of sets, or abstracting set-theoretic properties to the language of category theory?
because we can think about them
So that there is actually something to talk about ?
so we can have axiomatic systems as objects, and study what happens to those objects when you use them as foundations of mathematics
Share small, cool mathematical proofs:
Proof that [math]2^{\frac{1}{n}}[/math] is irrational for all [math]n > 2[/math]:
Suppose [math]z^{n} = 2[/math] where [math]z[/math] is a rational number.
[math](\frac{p}{q})^{n} = 2[/math]
[math]\frac{p^{n}}{q^{n}} = 1 + 1[/math]
[math]p^{n} = q^{n} + q^{n}[/math]
This is a contradiction of Fermat's Last Theorem, therefore [math]z[/math] must be irrational. QED.
Prove that [math]i^2 = -1[/math]
[math]\sqrt{i} = -1[/math]
Real number fags BTFO.
>>7889955
unfortunately this proof is not powerful enough to prove sqrt(2) is irrational
>>7889964
Your latex isn't displaying for me but I think you said sqrt(i)=-1.
You're a real number fag.
sqrt(i)=sqrt(2)+sqrt(2)i
what is the energy source that electrons use to always whiz around in atoms all the time? Can this energy be harvested?
>>7889910
They get excited easily. Places to be, things to see
>>7889910
This is like asking what energy source does the earth use to move around the sun,
Basically, you have a flawed understanding of fundamental forces. Go back to Physics I and start from there.
>>7889910
>what is electricity
>what is magnetism
I just had my first psychiatry lecture this morning.
That whole fucking field is bullshit. Nothing is well defined, all patients are robots and doctors are giving out meds like they are fucking tic-tacs.
Why does this shit even exist?
>>7889609
>I just had my first child this morning
>That whole fucking being is bullshit. Nothing is well developed, all arms are weak and doctors are giving him meds like they are fucking tic-tacs.
>Why does this shit even exist?
your mother
>>7889609
because it is empiric science and in general works
besides you don't know shit about anything at all so shut the fuck up
>>7889609
Psychiatry is at least better than psychology. I would even it consider a science.
Hey /sci/, I'm a student finishing secondary school. I'm currently on track to do a degree in electronic engineering, but I'm getting increasingly worried about climate change so I want to ask you some questions as you're the most knowledgable
>does the Paris accord actually mean anything? I've heard the agreement was a bit weak, but does it mean that in future years there might be stronger resolutions that could lead to the actual solution?
>which degree would best position me to be able to help with climate change?
>is it even possible to help with climate change without being a world leader?
>are there enough people doing something about climate change? I.e could I afford to just do my EE degree and relax about global warming cos theres already a large talent pool working on global warming?
>>7876567
>I'm getting increasingly worried about climate change
Don't be, it's not going to be pleasant bit it's not going to be catastrophically bad. And before it gets that bad it'd imagine that there'll be some large scale Geoengineering projects.
>>7876576
>large scale Geoengineering projects
You mean like massive total war?
Is who wants to be a millionaire just a game of luck?
I mean, there's 33.34% chance of being right unless the person happens to know the right answer, and lifelines can only get you so far into the game.
Let's say there are 15 questions with 4 choices each. Let's also say there are 3 lifelines: call-a-friend, 50-50, and ask-the-audience.
For each of the 15 questions, there is only 1 correct answer, and 3 incorrect answers, so immediately your chances are 1/3 = 33.34%. You can use each lifeline once. Using phone-a-friend, let's say gives you a 95% chance the person you call is correct. So 1 question is 95%. Similarly, we can say ask-the-audience gives you a 95% chance. Finally, 50-50 will remove 2 wrong answers, so you have 1 right answer and 1 wrong answer, so you basically know the answer. To recap:
Question 1: 33.34%
Question 2: 33.34%
Question 3: 33.34%
Question 4: 95% <--- ask-the-audience
Question 5: 33.34%
Question 6: 33.34%
Question 7: 33.34%
Question 8: 33.34%
Question 9: 95% <--- phone-a-friend
Question 10: 33.34%
Question 11: 33.34%
Question 12: 33.34%
Question 13: 33.34%
Question 14: 33.34%
Question 15: 100% <--- 50-50
Total: 690.08%
Divided by 15 questions = 46.00%
So basically, it's more a less a game of chance, but more than half the people on the show will lose, so it's not very fair. That show is making tons of money off of people.
>>7875132
>this copypasta again
GTFO
>>7875132
did you wake up from a coma or something? this pasta is ancient, we don't post it anymore.
If there's only one question, there are four possible answers, and one of them is correct. Chances of guessing the correct one = 25%.
If there are two questions, there are eight possible answers, and two correct answers. Chances of guessing them both: 25%
If there are 15 questions, there are 60 possible answers, and 15 correct ones. Chances of guessing all 15: 25%.
Why don't new forms of life emerge abiotically?
They could very well do, but they'd be out competed by the existing life
>>7888548
But if that is the case, could we not observe this?
>>7888549
No, because it would get almost instantly pwned before someone could notice it.
So I'm a pretty dumb guy. I have trouble learning anything deep like math, programming, physics, chemistry, etc. I get confused really easily. Anyways since I have nothing to lose I was thinking about slamming and hitting my head (the side of the brain that deals with logic, forget which side it is) either against a wall or just using a hammer. Not enough to kill me but just to maybe shake things up a bit and see if a miracle happens. Maybe I will turn into some border line genius, maybe not. That's not really my goal. I just want to be smarter. I read an article about a guy who fell on his head and became really good at mathematics and design patterns after his accident. What do you guys think?
>>7884961
>mathematics and design patterns
>design patterns
wut
anyway OP, let us know how it goes when you're done (if you still can).
>>7884961
Good luck, lad. Try not to kill yourself. Although, if you decide to follow through with this decision, please live stream it for us to watch. Maybe even keep a journal and dump it several months. Good luck, try not to die, and if you follow through, please try to show as much as possible to us.
>>7884961
>I'm a pretty dumb guy.
>Anyways, I was thinking about slamming my head or hitting it with a hammer.
Amazing.
In university engineering programs across the US, when a girl gets 70 percent correct on a test and a boy gets90 percent correct, both are given B's.
>>7883443
Now translate into European.
>>7883447
If diversity is given to a girl who recieved 70% multicultralism and a guy gets 90% multicultralism, free healthcare is given to the girl solely for being a girl because equality and the guy is readjusted to be an evil CAPITALIST so that the girl can be more progressed.
Translated to European now.
Can you please show a source. Just curious, I know there is a bias between the sexes but just spewing shit leaves you with bullshit like the wage gap myth
