I just started getting into making terrariums. Anybody else do this? I'm looking for some tips to make some really good looking terrariums.

I think you may have better luck on >>>/diy/ with this project. After all, terraria (three years of Latin, proper plural of singular ending in 'um' is 'a') aren't /out/ so much as a little patch you make to brighten up your /in/ space. Seems a neat hobby to get into, though. Good luck in your endeavours.
I have a great one.
It's called "outside", perhaps you've heard of it.
Ive tried about five and only my first one stays alive. My advice is put moss. All my other weeds or small plants died in a month

Also interested, any pictures? I only have windows to the south, so i guess its just to hot in a closed glas thing or would dry out if open.

At any rate you shouldnt place it in direct sunlight as I understand it.
I made my first yesterday, put moss and two other plants in there. I hope at least one of the three will survive.

Yeah, but i don't have proper place in the shade.

Just wait until you move out of your parents house Kiddo; you'll want to put some decorative features in your own space.

pic or it didn't happen
reckon I can just pick moss off walls or will I have to buy it?

You can.
i've made a few lightbulb terrariums
airplants and moss are GOAT. all others die pretty quickly in my experience
get some alligator forceps and don't water too much

Not a terrarium as much as a fishtank, but I had a 30 gallon that I populated with whatever I could fish out of the muck on my local rivers and ponds. In it's prime I had a 2" Chain Pickerel, a 1.5" Largemouth Bass, a couple of tiny Bluegills and a few Bullhead Catfish. I got a bunch of those golfball sized freshwater snails and freshwater mussels to try to keep the algae under control, but I never got any local flora to bloom even under good light conditions. I regret that I don't have any pictures though.
I saw this thread and was inspired to start my own, first time ever.
How, like in the picture, do you encourage moss to grow on specific parts of stone?

That looks awesome

Absolutely. I went out today to get a bowl and pot fertilizer, completely forgot about the activated charcoal so I guess I'll have to get that tomorrow to get started.

Eh, I've done a small garden and several flowerbeds outside my house but the inside is still pretty spartan.

I've tried my hand at terrariums a fare few times and despite my many efforts they've all died. I used to think I was like like a hobbit but seeing as I can't even grow a weed in a bottle I'm not sure.
