>>
>>17442115

Is it still in production? I don't see it on the Suzuki website.

Is the Honda CB500F the only standard 500cc available new? It seems everyone moved on to making 650s. Which is fine, but i imagine the insurance is a bit more.
>>
>>17442385
So the main thing I would ask you is how mechanically inclined are you? Because you are going to be dealing with carburetors if you go with any of those options...and knowing Craigslist sellers, I am sure that you'll be forced to clean those carbs sooner rather than later.

The main thing I would check for in addition to clean carbs is condition of the tires...you dont want to shell out another $400 for tires+mounting right after dropping money on the bike. You can see in that one SV650 that there is literally a bald flat spot in the rear so that needs to be replaced ASAP.

Maybe try something like this. Just needs very minor electrical work, and it's fuel injected.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/mcy/6195522825.html
>>
>>17442397
Dark blue, color is meh.

You could try just drilling the baffle and see how it is but that's pretty Jewish
>>
>>17442435
never dealt with a carb before but I've worked on cars before (MR2, Cressida, Accord). This is my first bike but I'll ask if they've cleaned the carbs or receipts if need be
>>
>>17442550

well you should be fine then. it's simple to do. it's just a huge pain in the ass. it might be overwhelming if you're a normie that doesn't even know the basics of using a wrench but otherwise it's doable

fuel injected will be nicer
>>
>>17442438
That's far too Jewish for me. Cactus knows of a decent unit that's like 400 all in
>>
Want to get into riding, want to buy a grom for a first bike, am I retarded?
>>
>>17442563
Which one where you gonna get? 400 isn't too bad at all.
>>
>>17442604
Depends on what you want to do with it.

Want to commute to work or school? Get a different bike

Want to ride with your friends on the highway or long trips? Get a different bike

Want to get a cool novel bike to fuck around on in your neighborhood, maybe pop some wheelies, or just short distance local fuckaround trips to the gas station? Get the grom
>>
>>17442604
Groms are fun as long as you're not the only one with a grom.
>>
>>17442632
I dont know anybody that rides a bike:*(
>>
>>17442626
I've gotta hit him up and figure that out
>>
>>17442628
I do want to fuck around the neighborhood and pop wheelies, I could commute to work with it because I don't use any roads past 35 mph, the only thing I'm thinking of is if I ever do want that speed that I'd be making the wrong choice. Ultimately though I'm just looking for fun and think the grom could provide that.
>>
>>17442648
Just get something capable then

Was that also in or around the Wenatchee national forest?

I'm fairly sure I was on the BDR route today. Did Ellensburg to Wenatchee. About 2 to 3 miles from the pavement and mission ridge we ran into a rock and tree slide. It's completely blocked off. Like 40+ feet tall wall of debris.

How much do you think good bike leather should cost?

To me, there's three items in riding where you get what you pay for, i.e., cost is no object: 1) your bike, 2) your helmet, and 3) your leather.

It's because american bike culture is about looking cool, not riding, but nip and euro bike culture is about riding so their bikes emphasize riding over looking cool, and therefore look pretty bland as showoff pieces except for a few rare factory liveries, which, for american tastes, can still look pretty lame.

Americans buy nip bikes because it's the best bang:buck, but find themselves out of cool points because nobody wants to hear them rattle off peak HP numbers or knows what the difference between a GSXR600 and CBR600 is, so they start ricing shit up

Harleys are a dime a dozen too, but they roll out of the factory focusing on aesthetics so hard things like chassis, brakes, fuel capacity, weight, and suspension design are compromised so the bike can look cooler.

And then you have the odd faglord who customizes a perfectly fine looking harley.

Euros adopted graduated licensing specifically to discourage people from riding motorcycles and raise revenue in the process, not to keep motorcyclists safer.

The entire point is motorcycles are dangerous at any speed over 20mph, and when you have socialized healthcare, that's a lot of missing epidermis and shattered bones for the taxpayer to take care of.

No insurance allowed by law, private healthcare at competetive prices > insurance, private healthcare > government subsidized insurance, private healthcare > completely socialized insurance, private healthcare > government hospitals

My bike calls for honda fork oil in the manual.

I'm going to put yamalube fork oil in it. Saves me 8 bucks. Oh, and very little height fiddling. Just gonna pour a bottle in each fork and double check, it's supposed to be 15.5 +-.8oz anyways.

Wish me luck.

I did this, and i highly recommend it.

I've had 1 driving lesson and the teacher told me there's not much point in doing many more (i already have a drivers license for cars).

It's a comfy bike, the only thing i do not like is when you hit 55-60mph and the wind catches your ass you will be screaming for your life the first times.

It's a great commuter bike, lanesplitting is a joke. You might just pop onto a sidewalk and ride down there because people think it's a toy.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that most people here actually ride, so there's not only the camaraderie between bikers but also everyone is experienced enough not to go around bench-racing. You can see that all the cancer we find on ordinary threads doesn't really get going here, and I think that that's why.

Other than that, something should be said about this one continuous, never-ending thread. It has developed a nice little climate of it's own and I reckon that the continuity is responsibe for a lot of that.

We're the same people, on the same thread, discussing the same subject(s).

Yep use some kindof fine grit sandpaper and sand it off, then clean it with paint thinner to remove any oil or contaminants, then spray paint over it. Probably have to use heat resistant paint
>>
>>17444603

If it were me, I'd be all over that, going in knowing that I would have to be resourceful buying parts when needed.

Husqi is/was a major brand, though, so I expect stuff will be available, just have to search for it.

Yep they'll get you on parts and service but that's true for most Euro bikes afaik. At least with the new bikes you get 3 year warranty including road side

I'm not too salty though, the local dealership is friendly and helpful enough. Just got a 3rd pair of gloves from them under warranty because the stitching was coming off after daily usage in wet weather.

The dealer fees for a grom/Z125 are ridiculous. Its a $3000 scooter and you end up having to pay over $4000 OTD. I just can't justify that for a scooter that tops out at 60mph.

Yeah, good idea. I keep a civilian 1st aid kit in my topcase, but an IFAK is also a good idea. The tourniquets in them are rather ridiculously effective too.

Where did you buy the thing?

It might be a good idea to carry that on yourself rather than on the bike.

If you crash and the bike ends up 50m down a cliff and you are bleeding you dont want to go find the bike to patch yourself.

Pretty much. Things got a bit weird here a while back. I could hear them using concussion grenades to break up the BLMers when they blockaded I94 last year, and the Castille shooting was only a mile from my apartment. Figured it might be time to fix up the kit a bit. Still debating whether I move most of my gear up north a ways and have the bike for fast/light bug-out, or just keep the truck loaded up.

I have a 300 for commuting. It feels more like a motorized bicycle if you're coming from anything bigger. I like how light and nimble they are though. 7k highway miles on mine and nothing bads happened yet except for being ran over. I geared up but gearing it down would make it pretty snappy/responsive at city speeds at least.
