Adds ventilation to your seat and crotch area, fighting swampass/monkeybutt. Distributes your weight across the seat too so less pressure points at the cost of overall softness. You also don't burn your ass on a hot seat when sitting on it for the first time after the bike has been in the sun.

Mai very first baiku. V Star has enough power for highway if necessary, especially if you change rear sprocket. Less able to kill myself on the road, less weight to deal with when stopped, less trying to not kill myself and more learning how to ride.

If I find a good enough deal on a dual sport first I'll get that though.

FZ07 vs NC700S for daily commute?
I'm afraid of getting bored of the Honda if I want to do anything else.

Yeah, gonna try them both of course but wanted to know what /o/ thinks. From what I've seen the FZ even if not made for commuting shouldn't be that bad at it. Looked like it had good mpg (not as good as the NC of course) and was tame enough for it.

Start asking her questions about bikes that should obviously doesn't know the answer to, ask her what her opinion is on recent motorcycles news she definitely hasn't heard. When she finally gets upset with you and asks you why you're talking about all this shit she has no idea about, tell her you thought she must be an enthusiast, and when she tells you she isn't, tell her to shut up and ride your fucking Yamaha.

Or just talk about how it has ABS and better brakes which makes it much safer than a Harley, even if it doesn't. Make up some fake statistics about how 80% of motorcycle related deaths are boomers on Harleys and involve alcohol or something.

ATX so speed limit 70,actual speed 75,up to 80, not really doing any distance cruiseing until I have experience so I only need to be at those speeds for maybe a mile or three, and the V Star being (obviously) a v twin it's a bit more comfortable doing those speeds than other 250cc cruisers, especially if you change your ratio on the rear sprocket

Do your research
Don't let them pressure you to buy then and there
Do your research
Even if the deal sounds good, walk out and sleep on it/take the evening to talk it over with a trusted friend or family member
Go in with a trusted friend or family member, even if you don't want to buy that day
Get all deals and offers in writing
Do your research

You always have the power, their goal is to make you forget that. Sometimes even walking away to think about it for a day or two will incite them to offer you a better deal.

If what's scaring you is the possibility of getting ripped off, like I said before, do your research.

The biggest thing is that the entire frame flexes longitudinally when you hit the front brakes.
Also I really dislike 600cc i4's but that's more of a personal preference thing, I prefer torque.

If you want the bike, go ahead. But they're outdated and cheap and it shows.

Leather gives you the best protection but it's heavier and more expensive. Speaking from experience, well perforated leather is 95% as breathable as textile, it's the flat leather with no perforations that will fuck you in the heat.

The first question you should ask is "what posture is best for me?"
If you don't know, go to a dealer showcase day, take the cb500x, cb500f, and new rebel. Think about it like scientific method-ing your next bike, so you can cut out all other differences and focus.
If you decide on the f, or like your r, give the 650 a shot to see if that much more is actually necessary. If so, and r, try the cbr600rr.
If you like the x, try the nc700x. If rebel, try ctx for fairing, shadow for unfaired.

Now you know how to ride, make your next bike a choice instead of impulse. Don't let these jackasses badger you into buying Suzuki.

If anyone here is curious as to why people don't just build racetracks in the middle of nowhere to avoid noise complaints, this fuckup might be instructive:

http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/1475749/residents-want-answers-to-racetrack-questions/

The working group of greenie fuckwits in the above story worked tirelessly to plant the rare fishy-smell vaginal orchid on the land slated for the racetrack. The end result of their labor:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-03-29/rare-orchid-halts-motorsports-complex-on-south-coast/8396090

100 of these protected plants mysteriously appear on the site and the whole project gets shitcanned.

100 fucken flowers is all it takes to kill a $20M motorsport complex.

If any of you ride motorcycles and vote for environmentalist parties, seriously think about this sort of thing next time you give them a vote.

That is quite clever, but yeah. Why shit on somebody's hobby like that?

I would campaign, even, for a party that balances the needs of society against the environment--instead of one over another. If the shit existed. Hell, I'd be for rational taxation-then-spending schemes. Or severe limits on abortion.
But the alternative takes food directly out of the mouths of the poor. Then turns every saved dollar in their budget into a tax cut for people who don't need it.

In the US, both major parties are so entrenched there's no valid vote. I settle for compassion over preference every two years.

While everything's taken apart, I've decided to do some cleaning. I've decided to replace some old hoses and shit, but what's the best way to clean the 'engine bay' without damaging electronics? Can I just unplug battery and hose the internals down provided all intakes are sealed, or will the leftover water minerals and shit cause shorts even after its dried?

Nigga of course anyone who uses an PCV on a bike that you can flash is an idiot, but tons of bikes the ECU is a black box
>>
>>17448178
>>17448129
That being said, I have no idea why the PCV doesn't allow for throttle mapping and cruise control on RBW bikes, I actually talked to Dynojet about this and the guy got mad at me.
>>
>>17448166
>V-Stroms
They have a cable actuated throttle. There is no electronic cuckery to limit throttle opening. The cable either opens the throttle or it doesn't.

In this case a PC is acceptable.

It's on modern electronic throttle bikes that the power commanders fall short and dont/cant properly de-restrict the bike.

ECU flashing also gets rid of stupid check engine lights when you remove exhaust valves, AIS, o2 sensors, etc. with aftermarket modifications.

>>17448178
>tons of bikes the ECU is a black box
You mean mostly shitty euro bikes with non-standard electronic engine control and shitty bikes that it's not worth the effort to crack the ecu open in the first place.

For bikes like these it's the only way to fly. i.e. pretty much every major ride by wire performance bike out of japan in the past 10 years.

PC's only alter nominal signals. The ecu throttle maps are the final say to the throttle butterfly. For a PCV to have any idea what the rider's throttle opening is and be able to tell the throttle butterflies what to do it would have to intercept the throttle input to the ECU to get a reading then splice into the ECU to throttle butterfly output to inject it's own signal.

No trivial task for what sis supposed to be an easy to install piggy back unit and att that point you're getting into standalone territory anyway.
>>
>>17448196
Gotcha. Still, it would be nice to just flash the damn thing so it would smooth out the infamous 2k-3.4k RPM harshness.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but the throttle on a RBW bike is just a sensor like any other sensor that the PCV would install in front of, in fact, the PCV already goes inline with the TPS to read it. All you'd have to do is read the user's throttle input and spoof the value sent to the stock ECU instead of just reading the value, just like all the other sensors that the PCV installs in front of.

Are you 12? I have no interest in getting into some pathetic internet bench racing competition about bikes you've never ridden in conditions you'll never ride in at speeds you are incapable of riding.

>Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but the throttle on a RBW bike is just a sensor like any other sensor that the PCV would install in front of, in fact, the PCV already goes inline with the TPS to read it. You don't.

The PCV installed between the riders throttle and the ECU can spit out a 100% throttle signal all it wants to the ECU, that signal will still be input to the bikes electronic throttle table and matched against the bikes RPM and it will output a value below 100% unless specifically in the rance that the ECU allows 100% throttle.

Take a look at this throttle map and tell me what good a PCV spitting out a 100% throttle signal to the ECU would do.

i knew several bush pilots in the Congo when i was a kid. mostly with an with an organization called Misson Aviation Fellowship. usually my family'd use various Congolese """airlines""" (mostly Antonovs flown by slavs and carrying freight) to get in and out of the interior, but those companies tended to go bankrupt / have unscheduled delays / get grounded because of crashes fairly frequently. MAF was super useful if you HAD to get somewhere pronto, though it was pricey to charter them. generally you wanted to look around for anyone you could find to fill up the plane if there was space, to split the fuel cost. Only ever flown on their Cessna 206's and 208's. Mad props to the MAF pilots i knew, they went above and beyond in many cases.

If your bike has electronic throttle restrictions and your bikes ECU hasn't been cracked to be flashed or the bikes manufacturer doesn't offer an unlocked race ECU. You are shit out of luck short of running a stand alone like microsquirt.

while playing MGSV, i realized that even though i lived there, i don't know much about the paramilitary organizations that have operated in the area. spent a solid evening reading about the civil wars in angola and the mercenary groups involved - there was a pretty fascinating article written by some american kid for soldier of fortune magazine about being captured by the angolan army just a few weeks after arrival and being held prisoner for several years.

And thank you, I'll watch my back on equipment, I've heard of these operators sending people out with barely flyable aircraft.
