Gonna go moto-camping with a buddy of mine next weekend. We plan on riding down to a National Forest Friday after work and camping out in the woods and then riding all day Saturday night making our way down to the coast and camping out on the beach, then ride back home on Sunday. It'll be my first decent trip on a bike in about a year, I've just been doing shorter day rides lately.

What kind of insurance would cover these hypothetical situations and would I always be at fault?
1)
>park my motorcycle, leave it unattended
>anti-biker god warrior parks next to bike
>decides to tip my motorcycle into their car leaving a big dent in the door
2)
>park motorcycle, leave it unattended
>ground sinks below kickstand
>bike falls over and dents someone's car
Would the other person's comprehensive insurance cover it or my property damage insurance cover it? It's their word against mine.
I'm a poorfag who only owns a shitbike and I don't want to get fucked up the ass.
>>
>>17436070
That's an interesting hypothetical, the second one anyway. Not that I know the answer.
Question, did this actually happen?
Also, first thing I'd do is check to see if there's cameras in the surrounding area.

If the bike was parked properly then no, it's not your fault
And if it were it would be his burden to proove you guilty

When if comes to road accidents remember: "if there wasn't a cop it didn't happen"
Never agree to nothing before contacting your insurance/lawyer
If someone approaches you saying "your bike fell onto my car" your answer should be "touch luck" and gtfo out of there
>>
>>17436166
This guy is 100% on the second part, I don't know enough to say on the first part.
Also, idk if this is a state thing, but certain parking lots and gas stations are private property and cops can't actually do anything.

2 stroke is objectively the superior design.

If the 2 stroke had received as many development hours as the candy ass 4 stroke has over the years we would all be riding godmachines right now
>>
>>17436401
As long as you have decent throttle control/arent retarded you might as well go for a 250 2 stroke, my rm250 was the first bike i ever rode and i learned on it. If you are going to be doing alot of trail riding or more relaxed riding a 250 4stroke would probably be a better choice, 2strokes dont really like cruising around
>>
>>17436325
Kek sounds almost identical to how I bought my bike a year ago.
>2hrs away
>showed up on time
>never ridden before, I had seller ride it in front of me and I haphazardly inspected it
>be social anxious mess, I offered $500 under listed price and he took it
>fumbled with money and handed it to him but was $200 short by accident, I dug back into my money bag
>brought tie downs and ramp but my dad backed his truck up against a hill and rode it into the bed
>made mileage mistake signing title, DMV wouldn't take it, had to call seller and sent money so he could notorize title correction document, thank god he did
>I was smart enough to make bill of sale tho
It's been almost a year and I've ridden the bike over 3,000 miles so far without any problems or crashes. It all worked out.

>>17436514

>>17436289
I would recommend a 250 4 stroke like that other anon, I had a YZ 125 and when I broke 200 lbs it started feeling like it was struggling a little. It won't be bad but the 250 would be better. Plus a 4 stroke is easier to plate if you're into that.

I had a nice quiet spot to ride in a state park near me during the winter but now it's summer and full of tourists REEEE. I need to find more secluded roads.

Hey guys, I have an issue:

I have a 2015 Meme07. Currently has ~15,000 miles. Anyways, lately I have been having problems with shifting down to first. I friend saw me on the bike and literally pointed it out to me in like 1 second.

The shifter is getting stuck on the kickstand. Bike has never been down, so highly unlikely that shift rod is bent inwards. wtf. Should I try to bend it outwards myself? Or just take it to the shop? I don't really have time for it to be in the shop as it is my commuter. Bike is currently under an extended aftermarket warranty.

What is the best bike I should look at under $2000? Considering getting a really old honda CB, not looking for something too powerful since its just for riding around the city
>>
>>17437537
maybe file a little bit off the shifter or just adjost it to a different spot. dont forget to mark the original position

depends on the craigslist.

>>
>>17437537
Daqfuq, maybe it bent inwards slowly over time every downshift. I'd probably adjust the shifter higher up if the riding position allows that then bend it back on the weekend.
>>17437543
Avoid those old Honda bikes, you want to ride, not wrench. Just get a 90's/early 2000's dual sport or Ninja 250/500.
DR350 or XR250L are good. As is KLR250, XT350, XT250, XT225, DR250, DR200.
>>
>>17437537
>Bike has never been down
Oh yes it has. You just weren't around when it happened.

Yes, you can bend it out yourself. Just pull.
>>
>>17437537
its mild steel, take it off and put it in a vise and bend it out again.
if you dont have a vise brace it with something so it wont put all the stress on the shaft

I like the bike. It's very light, power is OK, and the suspension is quite good. It's like a lowered Supermoto. You're right on top of the front wheel, and the suspention is long-ish for a street bike. So you can hoon like a mad cunt. You can corner like a Sumo with your foot forward and pushing the bike down, or hang off and go knee down. Either way works.

I'd skip the pipe, it doesn't get you more power. It's just an expensive farkle for you to spend money on.

Thanks guys. I ended up adjusting the shifter. I unbolted the part towards the bottom of the screen with the rubber boot, and pulled it off and put it back on like 3-5 marks higher.

And then I said something about filtering in moving traffic, cause I really do feel better if I'm not in a group of cars, then proceeds to tell me I'm the asshole he'd cut in front of. My inner 4chan kicked in and I wanted to call him a jealous nobike so bad, and just think of any other insults that popped up.
>>
>>17438536
How can you cut in front of a bike

They out-accelerate nearly everything on the road that isn't instantly identifiable as a supercar and can turn sharper than anything on four wheels despite pulling inferior cornering speeds thanks to their tiny wheelbase

I have swerved around quite a few assholes instead of running straight into them and it's easy as piss. Just ignore the risk of popping your tire while riding on the shoulder.

Also, you should have told him the only real assholes on the road are the ones that hold other people up, and that a bike that filters past everyone is also a bike that's not making the que longer

i have a 1980 honda cm400 im fixing up. one of the things i noticed is that the air box will fill up with fuel vapor from the carbs while cranking and running. if it doesnt start up it will eventually get so full of vapor that it will be too rich to start so you have to blow it out and try again, although if its running it doesnt seem to cause an issue. is this normal for old carbed bikes? it actually backfired ones and started a small fire in the airbox.

I understood it's not exactly easy to cut in front of a bike, but I got his sentiment.
I also brought up the doesn't take up space argument. Told me it only makes traffic faster by a fraction of a percent.
Why is it people hate bike that filter so much, it's doing nothing to effect them, and the effect it may have is actually beneficial.
And any time I bring up my bike, someones got something stupid to say.

sounds like the skid demon found another victim
why were you trying to do burnouts in your bike test though

anyway, maybe you need to go and really practice the fundamentals again. the clutch needs to be gently squeezed for low speed stuff and nobody will criticize you for being smooth on the clutch in a test. in my bike test i spent more time feathering the clutch than having it fully released.
tomorrow or even right now, even if it is raining go out and practice whatever you got wrong. the minute you make a mistake go back and start again from the beginning from basic/easiest to most complex/hardest.

if you actually enjoy riding, dont you think it will be nice once you can confidently say you could do this test in any condition even if someone woke you up in the middle of the night and made you do it. practice it until you can't get it wrong.

what bike did they make you ride?
it helps to have an idea of what you should expect from the bike
in your test you won't get extra points for being fast or pushing any limits, but they will remember if you act carefully. just ride as smooth and safe as you can.. imagine your grandma is on the back and youre riding on ice even if its dry
don't give up but don't take your mistakes lightly

American here, that doesn't sound at all like our MSF test. Do they have you go out in traffic like for a car driving test? Ours was a lot of cones laid out in various exercises that one person went all the way through at a time. No busy junctions involved. Surely crashing on the way to/from the testing area wouldn't disqualify you?

Yeah, it's kinda fucked how easy it is to get a driver's license here in the US.

For my regular Class C (standard passenger vehicle) license all I had to do was apply for a learner's permit when I turned 15 which allowed me to operate a vehicle on public roads as long as there was a licensed adult in the vehicle with me. Then I did "Driver's Ed" at home which involved reading a book and logging 20 something hours of driving under various conditions with my parents. Then when I was 16 years old, I went and turned the driving log into the DMV and took a 20 question multiple choice test and got my unrestricted driver's license.

To get my motorcycle endorsement I took a 2 day course that consisted of a few hours of classroom lecture / movies about the dangers of motorcycling and riding around in a parking lot trying to stay inside of some painted lines and cones. The highest speed we reached in the MSF course was 30 mph just to practice "emergency braking". All other maneuvers were done in 2nd gear at 20 mph or less. It's almost impossible to fail the MSF course unless you drop the bike, you can make a TON of mistakes and still pass. Then I took my MSF paperwork to the DMV, turned it in, took a 20 question multiple choice test and got my unrestricted motorcycle endorsement on my driver's license.

Really? Because I am short on fucking rafters and really need to have my forks not barf oil under hard braking, and shop prices are equal to just buying a good front end swap off a bike with a lunched engine.

Some bikes are really easy to swap CCT's on, it may only take 10 minutes. Others may require you to drain the coolant system and remove the radiator + radiator fan just to get to it.

Given that a motorcycle is a motorcycle and we range from not giving a fuck to saying "no ape hangers and keep your plate visible, also two mirrrors and passengers neee footpegs, that's it", I don't imagine there's a whole lot to be done in regulatory conformity, but bureaucracy can be a bitch

All I want is a CB400SF, but honda thinks (knows) the american bike market is more about showing off and owning status symbols than anything and doesn't consider it profitable to import a mini CB1300 (which we also don't get, because like hell americans are going to buy a retro looking bike with a radiator, right? have a CB11!)

On that note, one of the directors at my workplace has just passed his full license and wants to get an Africa Twin as his first big boy bike. He's very insistent and, while I know it's rarely a good idea to go straight from a 125 to a litre the AT is probably the least threatening modern litre bike out there.
