you know I always see motorcyclist get up in arms about that and I always think about how different it would be if motorcycles didn't have to pay for registration (Is there any such thing as a "Road tax" anywhere lol).
>well of course motorcycles shouldn't we weigh much less and don't damage the roads
>we're reducing traffic so it's fair
>we don't cause as much damage to other motorists or pedestrians!
Don't be mad because people get a loophole you don't, Instead get mad at the gubbamint for not giving you a loophole and be happy there are some people out there not getting cucked.
>>17008923
Registration is road tax.
I dont care. I just think it should be lower considered me and my bike weight a fraction of a soccer mum car that pays barely double of what I do.
>>17008923
But my bike registration costs less than my car.
>>17008945
Mines the same.
Plus an off road registration too... in two states
>>17008943
I pay about 1/3 to 1/10th of what a car costs on road tax.
Also insurance here is cheaper.
We might get cucked by our license system, but actually riding is cheered on.
>>17008923
My reg in NY was like $20/year to renew who cares?
>>17008966
Go to sleep you have work in the morning.
>>17008975
you're right ;_;
>>17008676
You have to lean it over by sitting on the outside of the turn at like 2mph while balancing throttle/clutch/rear brake fuckery, and god help you if you have Honda cuckbrakes that actuate the front at the wrong time
It's tricky but you get used to it
Just practice on a lot or else you'll hit a curb or something. I can't stress this enough. If you even pull the clutch in all the way during a curved lean you'll probably fall over.
>>17008982

>Should I buy one of these?
Thats entirely up to you and your desires, intentions, and budget
>Is it fun?
Yes, very. In all honesty I am to damned fat and tall for the bike and I take it through inappropriate places. It struggles to get past 85mph with me on it and it can't really handle anything more adventurous then a caliche road.
But it is still fun.
Anyone have tips on finding good deals on bikes? I swear people around here are trying to sell 8 or 9 year old 20-40k mile bikes for new retail prices around here on Craigslist.
>>17008994
You mean the Asian one?
>>17009008
Keep checking, the good deals usually go quick.
>>17009008
Make if it seems unreasonable then make a reasonable offer. Worst case is they say no.
>>17009008
Literally scroll through craigslist motorcycles by owner multiple times a day. In several weeks you'll know what market price is for anything that isn't rare.
>>17009014
>>17009022
>>17009028
I check every other day while at work... since boring work is boring.
Some people are terrible sticklers and I just keep scrolling 90% of the time. The ones that do seem decently priced turns out they got something terribly wrong like busted cowls or poor upkeep in general.
Was watching some guy with a XT225 that just would not budge off $3500... I think he gave up trying. Ninja 250R's also seem to just be shy $1000 under current model 300's without ABS, even though its a 2012 or even 2008 model.
I'll keep at it though... no use having my Endorsement if I dont actually find something to ride =/
>>17009047
I guess I mean to say that they just show the cowl fucked, but then say something "started last time I rode it" which is probably when they fucked it up and got scared and wont ride again.
Winter is a bitch too here on the Oregon Coast. I dont want to be too picky, but I dont want to invest in something I cant afford to fix and it just ending up sitting there. I do not have a hobby fund heh

Take an empty windex/cIeaner bottle sprayer and cut the suction tube off at the measurement you want, then squirt the fluid back into a bottle until you can't anymore.
Works like a charm and everyone has one.
>>17008916
>brake fluid
>already incredibly bad for paint
>clean it off with very aggressive solvents
Youre really fucked. best you can hope is that you got it off soon enough that it didn't damage the entire base coat. Take some 2000 grit and wet sand until you get down to clean paint, then polish it with polishing compound.
If you hit primer or steel before you get to fresh paint you need to repaint the tank.
Don't be an idiot next time, It says right on the brake cleaner can not to contact painted surfaces retard.

This was just last week. We lost power for 6 hours at work on a friday and my coworker's new house he just moved into lost his fence.

Paying out the ass on car insurance, I just looked in to motorcycle insurance. Significantly cheaper.
So now I'm looking in to buying new a YZ-07, or an SV650. Is there another bike I should consider for the same price used? (About 7-8k burger bucks)
I want to keep it under a liter as I have never ridden a motorcycle before.
Also what should I look for in riding gear?

Images being with the girl/guy of your dreams and (s)he loves you. You spend an entire day together, doing what you both like. Probably ending up in bed together.
And then you wake up alone in bed with wet underwear and the realisation you don't even have a chance with her/him.

My bike is getting up there in the KMs and is pretty beat up. I'd love to give it a full rebuild and some new fairings in the style of pic, however I can also get a fresh import low kms in whatever style I want for $5,000. I love the bike to pieces but really its just the model.

Are they trying to get us killed?

>>17009689
Well it makes sense really, you have to prove you can handle the stronger bike.
>>17009702
I does not make sense.
Mostly because it's typical for riders to start with less powerful motorcycles and then upgrade over the years.
You can't expect someone with zero experience to buy something extremely powerful and start learning that way.
>>17009706
Get a GS 500.
Also if you're too much of a pussy, start with A2 or A1.
>>17009706
Yeah fortunately in my country you can just go to a driving school and use their bikes.
Having to do an exam on your own bike doesn't make sense to me.
>>17009709
Welcome to Switzerland.
It's fucked.
Before 2017 they allowed people to just use anything over 125cc and up to 35kw to take the A- license.
>>17009712
>>17009712
That's bassackwards as well.
>take exam on 125cc shitbike
>still can't handle a heavy powerful bike
>allowed to drive literpeter
I see all the talk about not learning riding on a liter.
But I learned street riding on a liter. It really wasn't that difficult, just don't do dumb shit.
It's time to play another round of 'you literally have 3 seconds to tell me why I don't have Triumph Tiger Explorer'

Because it is not the Best Beginner Bike (c).
What sort of bike is this?
Sports tourer?
Big trailie?
I don't think I've ever sat on a more comfortable bike, literally feels like I'm sinking into a big armchair.
It looks ugly but graceful at the same time, and its an absolute bargain.

Yeah, but built 2015 - it was the 2015 Japanese special edition, just like yours is the 2011 special edition. That's why WE have applied tank badges and THEY have stickers. The 2016 special edition looks even better.

SV650.
For gear, find what fits. Cheap gear usually lasts one crash and falls apart. Good gear will usually survive longer, but every crash is different.
Helmets are one and done, typically. They don't need to be expensive, just certified and a good fit. You're paying for marketing and features if you get an expensive lid. I just buy closeout helmets like the Bell RS-1, but it fits incredibly well. Go try stuff on somewhere.

I live in a place where getting rich only costs you money.
Got a €100/m raise, because of that I had €50 less per month.
my rear wheel is almost out, should i get some plasticky shit and learn to skid?
>>17009198
Buy a used, second generation SV650 They're like $3000 for one in great shape. Insurance is cheap.
Aftermarket is fleshed out. Plenty of cheap replacements for little stuff.
You'll never have trouble with anything new as it's all been figured out twice and beaten to death on [infinite google results].
They're pretty quick for what they are, unless you need to go over ~120 mph for some reason. You'll be forced to actually learn to ride to go quick instead of just mongoloid throttle opening.
Incredibly reliable. I have two with 30k miles with just oil changes on the bastards. My race bike has like 30k miles with the last 10k being me beating it to death on the track.
They are very capable machines if you spend a few hundred on the suspension. Easy DIY stuff.

Edge of the tax scale. We also get ~80/m to pay health insurance with if you're income is low, lost that. Had to pay back every thing I got from that I that year too, was €600.
Was luckily just for one month, as my overtime and other benefits are a month behind.
Already know I probably need to pay €750 in taxes over last year.

Anyone got one of these puig naked screens?
I tightened the screws back with 23nm according to the manual but it wobbles like mad if I go above 80kph.
Would some sort of silicone ring between the holder and fork claw help?
>>17010065
Fine for urban riding where you never get up to much speed, but I wouldn't want to use them for any spirited riding.
>>17010065

Is it just buffeting in the wind or is it actually wobbling loose? If the latter, tighten it up some more.

I'm not entirely certain what the difference would be. It does wobble a fucking lot when I get up to speed.
>>17010096
Does it rotate around the screws or just wobble back and forth? The screens are pretty flexible otherwise they'd snap and fuck themselves up at speed. As long as it doesn't wiggle loose of the mounting points, you'll be fine.
>>17010119
Just wobble I think, I'll take a closer look tonight
