if you have the money to mod out the FX to your liking then go for it.
i believe the grey wire mod worked on all the carbed off road WRs, but i haven't looked into it in ages

If yes i highly recommend you start looking at a beta430rr otherwise why even bother with the lights or anything?
Off road that is just more weight and even 5kg is a big difference one you get into single tracks which is what i assume you want to be riding down.

And you get a computer when you buy the bike, even second hand they should have the computer and if they don't you say "well that is $500 off the price then"

What you want and what you can afford are very different things in reality.

Why buy something with a high maintenance schedule that has been to hell and back over the past 5 years so you can spend a few thousand dollars rebuilding it within 50 hours?

Why not be smart, buy a shitbike, git gud first then start saving for the bike you really want.

It is almost like you people think money grows on trees while complaining about being poor.

i already have a shitbike. it's fat and slow and bad at trails. that's why i want a light trail bike. and how do you know what my budget is? i only said i couldn't afford a beta, but that was without checking their prices. i can afford a new wr250f but am looking for a lightly used recent one to save a bit of money if possible. fuck off with your shit, old bike recommendations, i'm not interested in any two strokes or any of your 15 year old bikes, and i'm not going to explain myself further to you.

thanks! :^)
>>
>>16467652
Why are you so obsessed with this dude not getting the bike he wants? It's not like a 16 year old kid trying to buy a literbike, a WR250F is perfect for what he's said he wants, and why should he buy a shitbike when he can buy a nice one that'll retain its value and be a better bike? Also a few thousand for a WR250 top end rebuild? Are you high? That's maybe a grand.
>>
Why the fuck is this thing so cheap? What's wrong with it? I know the kilometers are high but that doesn't matter too much to me since I'm quite diligent with preventative maintenance.

Because first thing is first take it and halve it, half for buying your bike, half for maintenance that it will need within the first few months of ownership.

this egg on your face is gonna be pretty funny. Lorenzo is gonna win qatar, at minimum a podium position.

He was very fast at the first test and he looked like he wasn't trying, he never once went out and tried to record a hot lap on fresh tyres.

Look at his face during the test, just look at it.

He knows something.

On fleabay they sell specific mount chinese knockoff slip ons. Even if you don't ffind one for your specific bike you can find one with a bend that's close and modify it yourself or have it modified to fit.

How does one get better body positioning? I've watched the Eastern Euro dubbed TOTW2 that's always linked here, a bunch of track tutorials, and tons of articles on how to git gud at corners. Is there anything I'm missing?

when you go fast around corners for a living you should be doing something right

we have no way of knowing without actually watching you ride, and most people here are probably shit riders anyway. but watching your speedometer while going around a corner at night is not the way to gauge it. do some track days or at least find some twisties.

make sure your hips are square with the centerline of the bike (knee out like you're trying to drag it will help with this even if you look like a fag), NOT putting all your weight on the inside peg, helps to have your hands positioned correctly on the bars (diagonally like pic related), balls of your feet on the pegs, one ass cheek on the seat/one off, and kiss the mirror.

also remember that you can vary your position based on lean and speed, you don't always have to go full rossi mode and try to drag knee, just try sitting off the seat a bit if you're not hanging a corner too hard

I should get some day time photos for you then. A friend wants to try out her new DSLR camera so tomorrow might be a good shot.

>make sure your hips are square with the centerline of the bike (knee out like you're trying to drag it will help with this even if you look like a fag)

This comes naturally with familiar corners, I also point my inside foot towards the corner while still being on the ball of said foot.

>NOT putting all your weight on the inside peg

Definitely need work on this, I catch myself mid corner doing this at times. Should it be on the outside foot, or distributed evenly?

>balls of your feet on the pegs, one ass cheek on the seat/one off, and kiss the mirror.

>Doing
>Doing
>Not doing

Well there's room for improvement right there. If I find a corner during the day that isn't constantly hit with traffic, I'll start practicing there. And I do plan on coming back with images.

Need more practice.
>>
>>16468331
you should be supporting yourself with your knees and feet as much as possible, especially while in a corner, so however you can keep weight off the bars (other than what effort you're using to steer the bike). Except while braking really, it's almost impossible not to use your arms to hold yourself up then, but at least be able to let the rear move around under really hard braking (mostly at the track only)
>>
>>16468331
go to twisties not fucking freeway on ramps
>>
>>16468350
So say mid corner I my weight should be supported by my outside knee hugging the tank and the rest of my weight on my feet evenly? Am I getting this correctly?

Weight on arms isn't much of a problem, I practically have noodle arms while riding.

I sent you a video the last time you asked this question.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL54cMxILRU

The other piece of the puzzle (and the one I keep telling MV anon he needs to get out and do next summer) is to get some photos or videos of you riding, you might think you're totally hanging off the side and you're low as hell on the bike but the photos will tell the truth (you're usually never as far off as it feels in your minds eye).

>>16468252
is correct imo, it's not really the most important thing until that higher bracket. Body position is kind of like the icing on your basic skills, with that in mind though, there's no reason not to learn it ASAP and make it good from day one because then you're not trying to break habits later.

In fact I told you as much last time when I said this.

>I'd recommend you do the same thing I always recommend people do which is go slow enough that you can brake for the corners just by rolling off the throttle and get your lines and body position perfect, get yourself completely comfortable with the "course" so you know exactly what corner is next and where your line needs to go, body position isn't just about how much you lean off, but when, where and how smoothly you move your body on the bike, too often people try and learn this while going fast and they just tie their brain up into knots, do it slow, you might look retarded moving all about on the bike while barely leaning but when you decide to go fast it'll all be instinctual.

Also post location because usually when anons say there's "no twisties" around we find some like 30 minutes away on google maps...

I actually watched that a few times and tried to apply what it had said. I'm consciously putting most of my weight on the pegs now when the bike is in a straight, and trying to get inline with the bike. It's been an immensely helpful video thus far.

Like I told another anon, I'm meeting a friend tomorrow so she can play with her new camera. I'll post photos as soon as I get them from her.

I'm not saying it's a good idea, but I got to ride a FJ1200 after maybe three months of riding. I was generally easy on the throttle as I felt out the bike and did fine. And when you fuck up, it's usually fixable.

FZ07 is basically like a SV650, it's not hard if you aren't retarded. Every single bike is dangerous to ride if you're retarded, bigger bikes are more dangerous.

So the question is: are you retarded? Do you trust yourself with riding a machine that reaches 100kmh faster than most cars and doesn't give the rider any protection?

Fine, get the FZ07. It's just a big twin. It's your $8000 to crash doing a U-turn or something else dumb.

Yeah but chances are that even if you did that you'd still fall down because you'd be anxious and use the front brake or something like that.
>>
>>16468790
i fell once, but it was because i was in the middle of a very sharp 0.2mph turn and couldn't balance a turning bike under no power
>>
Anyway, I wanna give you guys this little insight as a new rider.

I just got an SV650 because I wanted to get something that would last me sometime that I could travel with. I only got it because I'm a very defensive rider. I always keep everything that happens around me in check.

Even though I didn't crash (bike fell two times because I forgot the disk lock on but that's a different kind of retarded) sometimes I wish I started on a smaller bike so that I could be less anxious about leaning and opening the throttle and therefore understanding the limits of my bike easier and faster.

I don't know where you guys live but it shouldn't be too hard to sell a beginner's bike in a decent state once you've got some experience.

Take this as you will.
>>
>>16468781
I'm not trying to be one of those faggots that ask about getting a bigger bike only because they've already decided and want others to justify their decision. If the majority opinion is that the FZ-07 is a retarded idea then I respect that.

I'm also semi-open to suggestions but recommending a dual sport/motard to someone who clearly wants a sport bike is not helpful. As for the GS500, I'm leaning towards something new-ish because I want something reliable and a lot of the older bikes I've seen (at least on CL) have been wrecked or fucked with so much I wouldn't trust them with my life.

So, I recharged the battery for €5, fucking thieves, and it still didn't start. I read on the manual the procedure for when it's flooded (just floor it while you start it) and it didn't start. I was losing my mind. I called the guy who sold it to me...... "did you retract the kickstand?"
Swearing aside, what a noise!

Honestly BLM should try this new tactic instead of holding hands on the highway. They just have so send out 1 person to crash their bike.
>>
>>16469876
If its flooded pull the plugs out, crank the motor over a bit, spray plugs with brake cleaner and dry them off then put it back together

Can't wait to get back to work next week so I can continue to support this expensive hobby

>>
>>16470573
when I get back to work I'll have no shortage of money, but also no real time for girls so it balances itself out. I've been at this game a few years now
>>
>>16470579
how does that even happen? I earn like $120 per week at best and still manage to keep buying more bikes and bike parts.
>>
>no job
>no girls
>no money

Stop complaining people.
>>
>>16470583
I also don't have time for anything, sleeping in a hotel 4 nights a week, working on average 6 days a week.
Still somehow I managed to get a girl. Which is just draining my energy, time and money, but I don't want to quit it.
>>
>>16470593

Because I'm not on autismbux and I have bills and credit card debt.

That being said I only have 500 dollars in debt and 140 dollars in liquid money.

I will pay it off on Monday though, gotta build that credit so I can get a nice bike at some point.
>>

In the US getting a license doesn't cost $1500.

In fact, to get a class D and M license it's ~$130
>>
>>16470779
you're thinking of Germany
the EU has more countries you fag
>>
>>16470765
Over here in Washington at least, car licensing testing/classes covers general rules of the road as well as vehicle operation

and since motorcycles operate so fundamentally differently the motorcycle endorsement on your license just involves a knowledge and skills test on how to operate a motorcycle.

depending on the state, neither is that expensive either
>>
>>16470765
The M license is a joke, just a written test and passing the MSF course. The car test is a written test and driving around the block for a bit.

As a very fuel conscious person that wants a motorcycle for commuting as well as being able to do any long distance (from one end of the UK to the other for example) should I go for a 250 or 600?

I am feeling like a kawasaki er6n but the fuel economy on it is so bad.

Any of the new fully faired 300s should be fine. A lightly news R3 or Ninja 300. Probably the R3 since you don't need to do a valve adjustment until 20,000 km.
