750 is just get as new as you can, the L1 model I rode was light years better than the K9 I rode which I was very surprised about.

1k is either a 2012+ or an 05/06 being the best.

Yeah, but all of the 300 'sport' bikes are all realistically temporary bikes. They are the best beginner bikes but they should be bought used and you flip them the next year from a small loss on price.

I own an R3 and I think the 300 Ninjette is the better bike because the tires on the R3 are shit and the Ninja has the option of ABS and the slipper clutch is fancy.

The R3 does have a peak ~0.5 hp and ~1 ft-lb advantage over the Ninja but both of these are going to be feel tame after a year of riding if you are going to continue the sport bike path.

Thought I'd share a video I took last week while riding into Koh Lanta, Thailand.

At about the 8:20 mark you can see a kid who is like 6-7 cut me off on a scooter. I have a few more videos but haven't uploaded them yet. I was riding 2 up on a CBR300R and my friend was riding 2 up on a Ninja 250R (can't see him in this video but can in the other videos).

If there is any interest I can upload some of the other videos later (I need to try and edit them or something to make them a little bit shorter).

The highways are pretty decent as are most of the city streets. It's the rural areas where it can get a little bit dicey, especially in the north and northeast parts of the country (much poorer regions than the south where I live).

There was a couple really beautiful sections on this drive (small mountains dotting the skyline) but due to the rain we didn't even have the GoPro set up. Now that I have one I'll be taking a lot more videos (need to get a helmet mount so I don't have to mount it on my gas tank).

There is actually a fair bit of the 150-300CC big bikes here. But yea, it still stands out as 95% of the bikes on the road are scooters, especially once you get out of the city.

I can't wait to get my new bike later this year (hopefully). We are currently looking at a Ninja ZX10R or Monster SR2 (the Ducati is a LOT cheaper). I use to drive a GSXR1000 back in Canada so I need something bigger but the 300 is good for the city due to it being able to split traffic quite easily.

I'd prefer a super sport but I also realize that sport touring is a much better option seeing as I'm getting older (almost 32) and will spend a lot of the time riding 2 up anyways. First time I came here was as a backpacker for 2 months.

Second time I cam here was to train and fight Muay Thai for 8 months (while also travelling the rest of Southeast Asia), started dating the girl who is now my wife during that trip.

Third time I came was to visit her for 3 months (she actually paid for my flight). Forgot to pull out one night and now we have a 7 month old daughter.

Tbh, I've never been happier. The absolutely moronic drivers send me over the edge to the point that I want to drag someone out of their car and curb stomp them sometimes (it'll eventually happen if someone does something incredibly stupid while my daughter is on the bike or in the truck with us).

But other than that, it's great.
