I've been listening to some songs from a company that's just all over the place style wise and I found a really cool 8-Bit collection in their stuff:

It seems to be very authentic and just totally brought me back to my NES days!
I've heard some other remixes and things like that which have blips, bloops, and samples I guess but this just takes it to a whole other level.
Can anyone recommend game music that's like this stuff?
Thanks!

This reads like some kind of CIA coded message
Most overlooked/underrated Beatles tracks for each member.
John: Hey Bulldog
Paul: Your Mother Should Know
George: I Me Mine
Ringo: What Goes On
John: Cry Baby Cry
Paul: The Fool on the Hill
George: none of them
Ringo: neither of them
Pretty spot on OP, can't top that.

Is there an alternative for the representation of the sheet music or is it just perfect?
Depends what kind of music you want to make or play.
It's good at representing traditional Western music, which is what it was made for. Melodies can be tough when they have a lot of non-sequential chromaticism, similar with non traditional chordal. Rhythms can get fucked up too, polyrhythms are especially unintuitive.
But that's all the exception rather than the rule. Most stuff reads fine.

sheet music is absolute garbage for microtonal work
it's clumsy for indicating fingering, and it's often very unintuitive to translate a written rhythm into a felt one
but it's the best system we've got

A little boring and monotonous but I like the concept and general idea behind it

Your music is shit and I didn't even listen to it.
Wanna know how I know?
Well, i'll tell ya.
People who can't simply read the rules on a North Korean Curling forum are likely not to follow the rules in other things in life, like music. And you know what we call those musicians? Avant-Garbage.
Now delet this before I put an ice broom in your ass.

Ah, yes. The covers album!
The Beatles did them better than the original artists.
Got recommended this when asking for stuff like Built to Spill and Modest Mouse. Is there anything like this I should listen to next if I don't like the rest of The Shins' work?
Why don't you like the Shins?

Oh Inverted World goes in one ear and out the other for me. I tried listening to it a bunch but only Caring is Creepy really stuck with me. I liked Chutes Too Narrow a bit more but the vocals were kind of annoying and almost overwhelming at times. I think my favorite thing about When You Land Here were the instrumental sections. Blast Valve is my favorite and of all the tracks with vocals it probably features them the least. I don't hate the singer's voice, I just think the instrumental parts are really good.
