What is it about certain styles of music that invokes an emotional reaction?
I'm not talking about music with sad lyrics or whatever - that's too obvious. I'm asking why for example slow, melodic piano music is easier to associate with sadness vs uptempo guitar music.
Or even more abstract ideas along those lines, like what is it about certain albums that makes people associate them with winter, autumn, etc?

slow music is often
the pulse of the music is related to your heartbeat and other internal rhythms, so fast music brings to mind activity and slow music contemplation
certain timbres have over time been associated with different ideas, look at vivaldi's four seasons e.g.
Do you still like buying music on CD?

yes but my boyfriend makes fun of me for it
>>75135438
no I don't
>>75135425
Vinyl or casette would be a better investment imo

The value of art depends on the values of the art critic.
Most art is born as imitation, not innovation.
The critic, not the artist, is the one who defines innovation, and rates it.
The artist is merely a vehicle for the aesthetic/ideology of the critic.
The critic is the real artist.
>>75106596
who is worse, the critic or the critic of the critic?
>>75106596
>Most art is born as imitation, not innovation.
This and maybe the line after are true.

Old crow medicine show
Jim Kweskin and Bill Monroe are a great place to start if you're just getting into Bluegrass.

What's /mu/'s favourite Spencer Krug album?
(anything from Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Moonface, Frog Eyes, Swan Lake and Fifths of Seven is fair game)
For me, it's Dragonslayer by Sunset Rubdown. I wish /mu/ hadn't forgotten about this album:

It's actually better for you to pee after fapping as it clears out your urethra of all semen.

What the hell are you talking about?
Is this the pinnacle of indie rock?
No, I'd rather just listen to Fugazi.

The only american band that is not degenerate
You obviously don't know your history of The Ramones. With the possible exception of Tommy, and possibly Marky, they were ALL degenerates!

besides their never sold degeneracy as something cool
Taylor Swift...I look for that in a wife.
Error: You must wait longer before posting a new thread.
Thy want to silence the Swift vote...
Post albums where literally only the first song is worth listening to
Okay you first
this is the most incorrect thread I think I've ever seen on /mu/
