Describe your favorite band or musician to me in one sentence /mu/.
I'll do an example. Radiohead: Sad songs with bleeps.
>>70862953

she plays sad ambient music with acoustic guitar
>>70864061
grimes

Grouper
>having a favourite artist
>having any emotional connection with music
This is not merely an insult to Basinski but rather an insult to music as a whole.
>>70862863
lol who even is that nigga
I bet he doesn't even do funny mashups and creative youtube videos
>>70862863
Basinski is a hack whose best known work is a gimmick
>>70862863
Basinski is a hack
When did you realize that Fake Plastic Trees is the best radiohead song?
i like High and Dry better
>>70862768
It annoys me how short the intro is before he starts singing, so when it comes on shuffle I don't have time to skip it before he starts singing and when he starts I just have to listen all the way through
>>70863000
trips confirm
Just found this guy and oh my /mu/ he is amazing from what i've heard so far. Where do i go first in his disc and what does /mu/ think of him?
>>70862741

>>70862777

anyone else get chills at city of the damned?
city of the damn...
wouldn't call it chills but the full song is probably the best thing from that album
also b8
Is there such thing as qts who also happen to listen to classical?
Only to brag about it, chicks don't like music
Yeah, this girl who lived down the street from my grandma was an excellent pianist and would listen to a lot of classical. She was a qt. I think both her parents were classically trained musicians who played in orchestras.
Myself
What's your favorite album?
Favorite song?
What did you think of Before the Dawn?
I think my favorite album will always be Hounds of Love, just because I don't think any of the others can compete with having Running Up that Hill, Hounds of Love, and Cloudbusting on the same album
>>70862482
Hounds of Love. The Dreaming is hella good too. The Dance Of Life is my favorite.
My favorite single has to be "Breathing" though, what an incredible way to close an album
Sometimes, when I'm my eyes are closed and I'm about to fall asleep, a completely original song will start playing in my head. It's usually scarily complex. My knowledge of music theory is limited, and this has happened to me before I knew any music theory at all.
Thing is, I can never remember it. Does this happen to anyone else? It's honestly frustrating because I can't compose for shit, but I feel like I have all this brilliant music just waiting to be let out.
>>70862394
Me too senpai
Just try to focus on it and re-play it on your guitar, piano or whatever
>>70862394
That just happens at random times. Keep a small notebook with you to and write down chord progressions and general ideas when it happens.
>>70862394
No you're not a genius, you just have delusional dreams that you do have good ideas.
how in the fuck do some of you unironically think this better than Currents? This is complete garbage and I feel embarrassed for having spent an hour of my life on it
tame impala general I guess
>>70862219
why would u have a general about a pop band?
99% of tame fans just like it because of the "vibes" and no nothing about music theory!
>>70862219
Where did you develop such a shitty opinion?
Name your top 5 albums.
>>70862235
because I'm fucking mad that people actually shit on Currents all over this board, which is a solid and fun synthpop album, because this crock of shit is supposedly superior
>>70862259
1. Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchidananda
2. Gil Scott-Heron - Pieces of a Man
3. Shabazz Palaces - Black Up
4. King Crimson - ITCOTCK
5. Mobb Deep - The Infamous
as if I actually have to prove anything to you. this album is meandering as fuck and more than half of it is filler. Currents is more interesting in almost every single conceivable way. Where did you develop such shitty opinions? Name your top 5 albums.
Recommend me some jazz. Any jazz is fine.
Also general jazz thread.
Miles Davis, John Coltrane, the list can go on
>>70862204
Go on ahead.
I need to expand my library. I've always liked jazz but never started to explore it thoroughly. Now it is time for that!
>>70862204
Don't forget Charles Mingus! I have that one on vinyl and I listen to it all the time...
How does YOUR drum kit look?
>>70862118
20 inch ride
Shitty snare, bass drum and toms
Good meinl hi hat
Shitty crash
Only spent 200 dollars but looking to buy 2 more crashes, maybe a China and a double pedal

Thanks god.
Man, what an unbelievably fantastic album streak!
Thank god nothing came along to ruin it.
