How is this album anything more than decent pop-rock songs and good ambient pieces? I don't see how it deserves to be called a "classic", a milestone, etc. when the first half is just alright Bowie songs and the second half is just pretty good Eno pieces

What were you expecting from /mu/?
It's exactly like you said, pop music loved by listened by your dad and mom when they were young and because they said that it was better than the current pop shit of today, youngsters thought that was the case.
I'm sure that the "patricians" of those days considered this album a mainstream commodity.
>entire album is either fun artsy pop rock songs or good eno ambient pieces
>"i don't get it"
wtf do you want me to say pham?

One time in English class I plagiarized some lyrics from that album and handed it in.

gud shit you have got friend
Does anybody else miss being a pleb?
I miss the good old days a few years ago cruising around with my friends enjoying basic shit like Earl Sweatshirt, Animal Collective, Kanye, Chance the Rapper, Wavves, XXYYXX, Fugazi, The Strokes, generic brostep/soundcloud trap, etc.
Now when I hear that kind of stuff it sounds like trash to me and I just can't get into it.
Being a pleb was comfy.
So what? Even if they sound shit now yhe memories that they carry worth a lot ,so cherish them and love them for what they are.
I stil love listening to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSDsYmZREwo despite it being absolute shit from a more objective viewpoint because it brings back memories of my middle school life that i treasure.

who "cruises" around with friends "enjoying" animal collective
that's ridiculous

what are you a fucking teenager or something?
What is the music equivalent of watching so much porn that you start needing kinkier, nastier, edgier stuff to get off?

Does that actually happen to people?
I think the melon hit the nail on the head when he described it as "high brow trap". Rodeo is one of my favorite albums ever, and while I don't think Birds in amazing I can still enjoy it.
I remember this board's reaction to Rodeo, it was kinda funny because it was an unpopular opinion to say it was good.
I think it's now a confirmed classic of trap and will be seen as such for decades.

Post artists who you think you're the biggest fan of on /mu/.
I also have literally never seen his early psych-folk stuff get discussed on here.
>>72688496
I would argue that perhaps I am not the biggest Marc Bolan fan on /mu/, but I am the biggest fan of The Slider on /mu/.
Maybe I'm the biggest T. Rex fan. I'd like to think I am.
I think he had one of the best hip hop albums of 2016.

The difference between The Beatles and Nirvana is that in 100 years Kurt's music will still sound as intense and fresh as always at least within the youth, while once all the current generation that was young during the 60's is dead, The Beatles will resonate within... nobody. Only music nerds and wananbe normies will listen to it to boast about their "knowledge in music" and how "music was art back then"..

>"dad what is this?"
>awkard stares
>"I dont know, the Beatles, a very important band apparently"
>"please turn it off"
>"please make it stop"
>[yawns intensifies]
>"this sucks"
short after, this blasts throught the speakers:

>"holy fuck what is this?"
>"I need to start listening to more old music"

People like you are why Nirvana has a reputation as a band for assholes
Nirvana already sounded dated by 1997
I just might have Nirvana slightly higher rated overall than The Beatles on RYM. Mostly because of the MTV Unplugged album/singles...
Boy, I sure do love paying for a piece of shit service because it's convenient, even though it's actually more of an inconvenience than torrenting if I had two brain cells to rub together! Do any fellow Reddi- I mean, 4channers use this excellent program?
why yes, I do in fact. my favorite part is that I have to pay for access to my TOP QUALITY 320kbps
