Whats a good russian punk band
Okay so I'm pretty certain Tyler took some inspiration from mos on the last song of flower boy. Mos Def's album Black on Both Sides ends off on a tangent (not necessarily a bad thing) by throwing in a toned down instrumental song. Oddly enough so does Tyler's albums flowerboy, and even more so the 2 songs have a very similar vibe to them. I get the EXACT same feeling listening to May-December at the end of Black on Both Sides then I do listening to Enjoy Right Now Today on Flowerboy. I think it's quite possible that Tyler took inspiration from mos on this album and most of all the last track of the album. Thoughts?
I think it's more a nod to Pet Sounds (the pentultimate track being a toned down instrumental, Pet Sounds). We know he was working with Frank Ocean, who is heavily inspired by Brian Wilson. So they probably listened to a lot of Beach Boys/Pet Sounds.
this nigga suck dick i refuse to listen

Hey /mu/, often we shill our own stuff or stuff from artists we have no connection to. But what about your local artists? Who are some local acts you enjoy?
ITT post:
>your hometown/city
>at least 2 local acts you like
>a link to their Bandcamp/Soundcloud/Spotify/whatever
I'll start.
>Miami, FL
>Long Shore Drift
https://longshoredrift.bandcamp.com/
I saw this band's last show the other night, it was wild. I personally know one of the girls in the band, and they're all chill people. They make good surf rock, really nice stuff.
>The Takers and Leavers
https://www.takersandleavers.com/
These guys aren't from my hometown directly, but they do shows down here. Pretty good stuff, at their last show their lead guitarist's strings broke twice from how hard he was shredding.
>The Polar Boys
https://open.spotify.com/album/7KQRNX7mQfJqo1hipSvV3B
These guys send off serious Beatles/early Beach Boys vibes with their music. Nice harmonies and sweet tunes. When my friend and I first heard about them we read their lyrics and thought they were kinda cringey so we started talking shit in private before the show. Turns out they blew us out of the water with how good they were. Definitely better live than recorded, but their singles are still pretty kickin'.
>Modesto, California
>¡Killah Wail!
https://killahwail.bandcamp.com/releases
Lo-Fi surf punk band, I saw them live and they are so young but they have the massive energy for their shows.
>Sloome
https://sloome.bandcamp.com/album/i-wish-you-twice-as-much
Shoegaze-pop band, I would say they have a mix of Beach Fossils and DIIV. Saw them live too and they're really nice and know how to have fun.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing these guys post the No Harm Done single here a while back. Good stuff all around! Currently listening to these guys before Killah Wail.

I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with Dylan, I now rarely listen to anyone else. Also love playing his songs on guitar, my little black songbook has taught me more chords than anything else.
What's his best album

operation doomsday, he actually rapped with some kind of energy on that album.

Why does anyone learn how to play the drums when drum machines and software like EZDrummer do the same thing better and easier? Even learning guitar is more practical than learning drums now.
>>74533501
>why learn to paint when you can just take a photograph?
could you be any more basic?
>>74533501
bet you've never played on a real drumkit
>>74533501
The samples that drum machines and software use come from acoustic drums, for one. And sound like sanitized, un-dynamic fucking dog shit for another.

What do you look for in music?
>>74533729
I like really weird vocals, like Nico's Desertshore or Rain Dogs or Captain Beefheart.
Danceability like soul or most pop music
also lush maximalist production, like Brian Wilson or Marvin Gaye or late registration

How can I break my instruments if i'm poor?
Kurdt and the band did it before they were big what gives?

>Kurdt and the band did it before they were big what gives?
Shoot yourself up with heroin until you don't care about your guitars anymore. There you go.
>>74533287
do you know an ancient band called the who?
In the 1980s, you could still got to a pawnshop and pick up anything that wasn't a Strat or Superstrat for ridiculously cheap. Kurt bought cheap guitars to smash up. He would also occasionally re-use broken guitars held together with duct tape to smash again. If you want to do the same, you're not going to be able to afford doing it with old Univoxes like he did, but you could probably get by with ultra-cheap Chinese instruments like Behringers. It's still expensive, though. Pete Townsend almost bankrupted The Who by smashing so many guitars.
Or you could try not being an edgy tryhard.

So Tough is a great album. underrated. Sweet Insanity is incredible. Better than BW 88 imo, even with the Landy lyrics

Mike gets a lot of flack but he's an important member of the group and has contributed a lot of great stuff. I don't think he's a terrible guy overall.
>>74521739
I like that pic. I read in an interview somewhere where the interviewer was interviewing Mike and his wife recently and they were eating quinoa burgers (he's been vegetarian since the late 60s, i believe) and it made me want to try making some burgers myself - they were pretty good
