>Mike's work on Today stands out for me. When I Grow Up and Kiss Me Baby are some of the best pop vocals ever and his lyrics on stuff like Please let me Wonder do not get enough credit.
Yes, of course. Today! is an excellent album. When I Grow Up To Be A Man is one of my all time favorite songs from the group, especially that ending coda. Kiss Me Baby is sublime. I think Mike likes it too. Did Mike contribute all of the lyrics to Please Let Me Wonder? They're fantastic

>What is your favorite Beach Boys album?
Smiley Smile

>What are your favorite Beach Boys songs?
I guess 'Til I Die is my fav atm

>Thoughts on Sunshine Tomorrow?
Wild Honey mix is eye opening, and I love the chilled out atmosphere of the Smiley Smile era live tracks. I've put Heroes and Villains rehearsal and the live version of Good Vibrations on Smiley Smile instead of the studio versions and i love listening to it.

Nice picks. I remember when I first heard Til I Die and was blown away. I still hope for the day that I get to hear the Til I Die demo with the original lyrics.

>>74513871
I'd disagree. They Beatles are a great band but they've been discussed to death and imo the Boys are more interesting. Beatles fans can make their own thread.

With that said, this is really nice:

I'm really digging the official release of the Honolulu 1967 concert on the Sunshine Tomorrow record. I believe it was the last time Brian ever toured with them before Landy in the 70s. He even played bass with them (I think, on the first day)

I would guess it was taken in a hotel from a tour, and why would Marilyn be along with them?

He's an asshat with no taste chiefly interested in the commerical aspects of the beach boys. Here's a disgusting fact: Mike Love estimates he has performed Fun Fun Fun over 6,000 times. I don't hate him, but he is absolutely an asshat unconcerned with how people view him. He thinks Kokomo is the greatest achievement of mankind and can't help bringing up Denny's drinking every interview

Would anyone be interested in the complete Unsurpassed Masters bootlegs? idk how to set up a torrent

Pacific Ocean Blue was better than Pet Sounds or anything else any of the other beach boys ever did.

It's found on the Carl Wilson: Under God Tribute Album. The issue of the magazine it was released it can be purchased here. It says the cd is not for sale, but I'm not clear if that really means not for resale.

the percussion sounds really good for 1970

My favorite is Pet Sounds...but besides that I like Holland and Love You. Holland has some of the most well written Beach Boys songs on it imo.

Wiki says it's Dennis Dragon, Daryl Dragon's little brother, presumably at Brian's home studio.

I wrote this a few years ago. Thing is, I don't think I was even really trying to emulate Brian's sound. I was thinking more of The Doors when playing with the harpsichord. But after getting heavily into Pet Sounds and coming back to it I realized it does sound pretty similar.

Yeah, I was still very much in the process of learning to write music when I made that. (not like I'm still not though) But glad you liked it. And yeah, it does kinda sound similar.

On a slightly related tangent that's probably why I fell in love with Pet Sounds and Smile so heavily; it was a lot like the music I like to write. The fact that mere pop songs could be so complicated and dense and elegant is just mesmerizing.

Oh wow, I live right next to Whittier, I hear that Brian's dad had a home there.
>>
What is everyone thoughts on Mount Vernon and Fairway: A Fairy Tale? Listened to it recently and I loved, particularly the segment where Brian does his best Eric Cartman impression. Also found similarity between the synthesisers at the beginning with one of the early tracks on Earthbound.

What is the best SMiLE mix?
