Controlling them completely isn't done often, though. The most they do in optimal conditions are the summer solstice and it's moon equivalent, where Luna and Celestia force the sun and moon to their proper trajectories since imperfections in them build up with time and, unsupervised, could either crash into each other, their world, or just fuck off away.
Ponies also are capable to control the sun and moon via mechanical means by Hail/Osmanthus' time, as seen in pic related.

His stories are all connected. The Cammyverse chronologically starts with some of his mini quests, like that one with Rarara and Ponk. The deep lore establishes that all the elements of Harmony are unable to age and functionally immortal. A bunch of stuff goes down, eventually a pony named Ludwig does some stuff and science and magic happen. A reality hating tower is involved.
Also, Spike died and Twilight lost her mind. Later she put a brain parasite in Applejack to repress her memories.
Applejack then goes in search of a miracle at some point.

Much much later, Ponies are doing things in space. That's where Osmanthus and Hail take place, in the future, beyond Miracle.

The worst part is, this isn't even as deep as the lore goes. This is merely the surface.

I haven't read a single Cammy quest because it's like trying to dive into an ocean of deep black lore and every npc is a swimming shark who instead of biting you just doesn't want to give you answers and sometimes you come across a little island of answers but then eventually you have to dive back into the sea to try and get help and get back to the next island and the deep inky depth of the lore physically takes you deeper every time.

I wanted to speculate on the future of Darkest Hour with somebody and felt doing it in the thread would get nowhere. Don't get me wrong they are a great playerbase, probably the best I have ever been a part of but at the time I wanted to speculate on the assumption that Luna dindu nutin. Most of the players assume Luna is the bad guy. We both feel that although Celestia likely did do all the things Luna claimed it is possible the betrayal sent her a little insane and time well tell how that will affect her ability to rule.

I liked the idea that although we signed up for money upon learning of celestias betrayal she decided to fight against tyrany, against Celestia not for Nightmare Moon that is an important distinction. Mostly because a lot of our prior dialouge was leaning towards that but also I liked the idea in general.

In hindsight it was never going to be accepted because most of the thread did not believe Celestia did anything wrong, roleplaying can only go so far. Although I certainly did not help matters by suggesting that is why we tried so hard to escape the deer. Quality of arguments over quantity of arguments.
