While Aurora is much stronger and can take much more than any normal pony we still have to play her rather conservatively because it's so hard to recover from any damage whatsoever. The system Vince uses isn't helping anything either because even when we put on armor it barely did anything. Aurora has a lot of potential but we've been toon wrapped up in stuff to try and grow stronger by learning spells or expanding her magic reserves.

Absolutely everything is unplanned, the posts are small and badly written. There is no potential story, the mc is literately just DEW LEWD. That's it, no character. Only lewds.

All the characters just do what we say, and the QM lets us decide how badly the punishment is for fucking up.

I like it for two reasons. One: it is an unconventional take on a traditionally dark and edgy setting. I appreciate the novelty, and I always like quests that don't take themselves too seriously. "Wacky light-hearted fun" as you said.

Two, we have a LOT of control over the quest, and I appreciate it. There does not appear to be any rails or explicit plans, we got to choose whatever the hell we wanted for a character, and

Let's talk about Lewd Quests.

Not quests that may have lewd themes and jokes/occasional semi-Canon/fully canon dip into clop. I mean a Lewd Quest that focuses on the lewd stuff as it's central theme. Like say Colt Quest or Foal Quest, or Night Shift.

Most of these quests tend to be either hated and controversial, or they end up dead on arrival and run out of steam (Night Shift lives but still). Why do horrible fates befall Lewd Quests?

Is there a preferred way you would like a Lewd Quest to play out? It seems a lot of them either operate on having lewd just randomly present itself or the entire Quest being a stream of Lewd in-between breaks. Either way, the players seem to have little control over the time, place, and sometimes content of the lewd being showcased. Other than having the option of 'Hell yeah' or 'Hell naw'.

Then again, considering how often Colt Quest devolves into shitposting when gay sex happens, or the waifu wars present in some other quests, maybe limiting the players is for the best to keep the Players satisfied and not at each other's throats.

Another interesting failure in this was Foal Quest. The whole 'if you lose you get lewd' style is popular in a lot of H-games, including CoC which is the obvious inspiration. Though it really did not translate well to CYOA form. The idea of making the lewd a reward for succeeding in the quest however may be a good one. How such a CYOA would work is another story though. I can already think of a few issues with the idea.

I may be rambling here so I'll try to bring it to a point. What would the ideal Lewd Quest be? Not necessarily content wise, more how would it be structured? Is more or less player freedom in how they choose when and where lewd occurs better? Should it be a reward/goal the players work towards and drives them to keep playing? Or perhaps lewd just occurs naturally whenever so players don't get sick of it or go too long without it?

You see, I don't see foal Quest as a failure and I haven't really read enough of Colt Quest to have a valid opinion. In Foal Quest I never saw getting raped as a real reward, just more of a thing that happens in that world, really Nips gave the option to rape your opponent upon defeating them but he also cock blocked Depp Blue after all of her victories except for the one over Flutterbutt, who was promptly adopted instead of fucked. The only thing that really killed Foal Quest is lack of activity and even then If a thread popped up four months from now, everybody would still be all over it like hot air. What I'm trying to say is that FoalQuest's focus for player goals was going on an adventure and not finding sex.

All in all I think the best way to run a lewd quest is just to have lots of opportunities for sex but have the MC's motivations be towards something else. If run right, players will move the MC toward their goal in a good lewd quest which is often not lewd at all but the addition of a plethora of lewd situations and opportunities is what makes it a lewd quest and not the actual motivation in the story.

From what I've seen, Quests that are nothing but lewd with little interaction are usually the the one and done short quests that last one thread or one night.

The not DoA lewd quests in the past year have been Maid For You, Anonpone in Humanestria, Night Delivery, Space Vex, Colt Quest, Foal Quest, and Rite of Passage. 3 ended normally, 2 are still running, 1 would never complete due to it's structure and got canceled, and 1 is on hiatus. ND and BQ went on hiatus at the same time due to limited time by the author, FQ is about as ded as any Nips quest. CQ's controversy would have been long dead like any controversial quest if not for outside factors.

Lewd quests have problems about as proportionally as other quests there's just fewer of them. Because structurally they're usually like other quests. Players have as much control over the time,place, and content during the events of lewd quests as much as they would otherwise. CQ players have as much control during the succubus attack event as they do during the mecha-zombie-squid attack event.

As far as lewd as the reward/goal, that's not even how it's treated in several of them. In ND and Space Vex lewd events are basically puzzles half the time. In Rite of Passage it was just part of the story. There's various ways to handle it, just like any other element of any other quest.

There's no ideal lewd quest just like there's no ideal quest.
