Just carry a small rucksack by the handle? Less autistic than a satchel.
>tfw people will judge me for reading / carrying a book
what hick shithole do you live in that still has public transport?
Why post this thread? I really do pity you for having such a boring and attention-hungry personality that would lead to your posting this thread. It isn't funny, it isn't interesting, and it isn't informative. Please don't post on this board again, or at least think about what value you're contributing to your own life or to the lives of /lit/ posters before doing so again. I'm saging this post and hiding the thread so any reply will go unread on my part.

Anybody read the Fuehrer's favorite writer?
But may Karl edit .png?

I guess not
I did, as a child. Very nice adventure books.
Guys I'm stuck on something, I can't figure something out and I'm obsessed about it. I will start by listing a couple of logical statements:
1. All words/ideas/concepts are the logical organization of other words/ideas/concepts.
2. Any attempt to think or talk about this any further is subject to the same regressive paradox. Even this. Even the original statement.
What the fuck. If you think about this enough you will be paralyzed.

There is no answer. Words are just signs. And you can interpret signs because of your memories.
HEY KID!
Is this a good read? I don't know why but I really feel like grabbing this from the library tomorrow and reading it. Is there a specific edition or anything I should be looking out for?
I've never seen the accent over the A like that.

If Victorian language doesn't bother you. Also: epilstilary and he repeats story points over and over from different characters points of view, so repetitive. Always go for the Norton Critical Edition, bro! It gives lots of footnotes for antiquated words and references.
I disagree, I didn't find it repetative at all. I found the form very engaging and well crafted, and each person's individual style and voice is very well done. seriously one of the best written works I've read.
best publication series?
>pic related
>>7444593
I like them too. I also love Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, and Brill.
>>7444601

Are books a good gift to give to, say, a girl or anyone else in general?
>>7444192
It obviously depends on if they like to read.
>>7444192
>a girl
Not a book hahaha upvotes to the left
>>7444192
No. Only a nerd would thought of that. Buy her perfume and/or clothes.
I just started this and what the fuck. Am I supposed to be completely lost? I can enjoy the little stories given in each chapter, but I have no idea why they are being told. How am I supposed to make any sense of them as a whole? Am I even supposed to?
Guve me the strength to keep going /lit/.

It's like that the whole way through. Good luck.

Literally just keep going OP, it's hundreds of pages in before some plot lines tie together. All memeing aside it's a great book, stick with it and it's an overall powerful experience.
What is the best title ever given to a book?

off topic zen and the art has been on my shelf for like three years because I got it for a quarter. is it worth reading?
It's a tie between A La Recherche Du Temps Perdu, Gravity's Rainbow, and Agapē Agape.
How accurate is this?
not very accurate. level of knowledge is irrelevant to happiness. iq generally correlates positively with happiness, though it would be worth examining if this holds for increases in IQ even past the top say 1%, it might break down.
i also suspect among poor people increases in iq correlate with happiness up to a certain point, but then begin to decrease.

Confirmation bias. All happy smart people are too busy actually doing shit to post on internet forums and make little pictures.
You can guess which camp I belong to.

Is this edition any good? I know the penguin deluxe edition should be avoided but what about this penguin edition? Or should I just stick to the Vintage classics one?
>>7443416
The penguin deluxe edition is fine now. They got rid of the errors.
Stop perpetuating this meme.
>>7443416
In the same vein, is this edition any good?
>>7443416
i checked it out, and it doesnt have the deluxe error, so i'm going with it. who knows, though!

>>7443356
Maybe.
If you had to choose one, which one would you pick? Why?
Endless prose about nature or endless info dumping of whale hunting facts.
I'd rather end myself.

Not to be that guy, but whaddya mean by choose? Choose one to exist and the other not to? One to take with me to a desert island? One to say 'this one is of better aesthetic quality than the other?'
I mean, they're important for different reasons, I like them for different reasons...

I've really been enjoying Christian philosophy of late. I've found the works of Aquinas to be especially rewarding but I've also gotten into some of Boethius and Dante.
Does /lit/ have any recommendations of other Christian philosophical/theological writings?
Early Church Fathers
Desert Fathers
post-revolution and especially 20th century catholic philosophy is some of the least tapped shit with the most potential in the history of western thought
