I like asexual people, because I know where I stand with them, I can offer a modicum of support and understanding for what they're going through, and friendships are often easier to maintain when sex isn't an issue.

I thought the "cis straight world" didn't like passing straight trans people; and from personal experience I know most straight people in my country do not like lesbians and gay men.

There are certainly a lot of loud people with those attitudes, but it's not the entire board. I find it kind of exasperating when people bring up respectability at every opportunity - it's myopic with regard to history. But what can you do. These posters are either bad faith or they are too immature to discuss like adults.

Calling /lgbt/ a hate group is just inflammatory though. There's a lot of internalization and self-loathing involved.

Even though you would risk making it a bit awkward I don't agree with the posters above saying you'd lose a friend. Does your friend already know you're interested in men? And are they accepting of that? If they have no problem with it I don't think you will lose a friend because either (1) they aren't into you and you move on in order to maintain friends or (2) the feelings are returned and all is good.

How long have you liked them OP?

I am very much on the stance that you should tell him just because (I might be assuming) but it can be super overwhelming and stressfull to keep feelings bottled up. I had, and still have, a crush on someone and that has been going on for 7 years and I regret it every day that I didn't say something sooner.
