Seems alright for the money. He doesn't actually mention the twist rate, though. It's kinda funny the guys lists it as a POF custom build, but the only POF part is the barrel.

You could build cheaper, as always, and just buy a ballistic advantage 1/8 223 wylde barrel if you wanted. If you don't have the tools, know how, or desire to build an upper yourself, you can always prowl PSA for a barrel led upper with a 223wylde 1/8. That's what I did. I think my upper was around $500 minus sights from PSA and it meets your criteria. I think after the scope, sight, bipod, sling and adding an SSA-E, my AR is worth roughly 12-1300.

There are places you can cheap out and retain your accuracy, especially in the lower as most of your ballistic performance is determined by your upper. The biggest upgrade to the lower that will increase your shooting is the trigger.

You're describing what I want. Aero precision had completed rifles for $1k with these specs plus their builds are great quality. But it's been sold out for months.

I would love the upper you mention, and a generic $150 completed magpul lower matches what I want for a lower. Any chance you can link it because I can't find a .223 wylde completed upper by PSA

Good question, the Odin works build has a 12.65 rail, and a 3-gun profile barrel and weighs a good bit less than the Aero 18inch with the semi-heavy hansen profile BA barrel and 15 inch rail.

I keep the S&W at my cabin, and wanted a standard plain jane AR for home.

Hey I was wondering if anybody could help me out since I'm new to owning firearms. I bought a Aero Precision AC15, the complete Ar not just the lower, and I've only put 400-500 rounds through it and I've noticed that sometimes when i eject a live round the cartridge will have scrapes along one side of it and the bullet will be tipped over. This only happens after I chamber it. I've shot many different kinds of ammo, American Eagle 55gr FMJ is what i shoot the most. I also have tried Pmags and Steel ones and they all feed fine.

My only complaint is that the bolt carrier group in the upper I got from them (A2 premium) doesn't seem to move as smoothly as my windham's.

New to /arg/ but this x1000. I have seen so many people buy ARs cheap and get burned. ARs (finally) have a great reputation for quality and reliability, but that is because of certain manufacturers doing their research and developing the platform. Most of your cheaper or no name manufacturers will build to mil-spec (read: Vietnam spec) and some not even that. If you are fine with 3-4 MOA accuracy and failure to feeds (or don't have any expectations) this is a viable option. Producers like Daniel Defense, LaRue Tactical and others have made some of the best AR platform rifles the world has seen. Unfortunately that leads to hoards on the internet saying that every AR platform rifle is reliable, but this is sadly not the case. My suggestion is buy once, cry once (then buy some more for fun.) Really your first rifle considerations should start with Colt and go up from there. Get a rifle that won't give you frustrations, or worse.

I bought a strike fire 2 today, I went in really wanting a trijicon MRO, but when I tried one out it seemed like it was slightly magnified and it messed with my eyes. So I tried an aimpoint pro and the dot looked blurry. Then I tried the strike fire and while it didn't feel as nice as the aimpoint, but the dot actually looked better to me so I got it instead. Maybe its my eyes, but it was the clearest to me. I spend the rest of the money I was going to use on the MRO on ammo. Sorry for the blog post

What do you intend to do with them? Personally, if it's your first AR, I'd get the 14.5 since it's a little more Versatile in its possible applications. The 20 is fun to shoot, but a pain for anything other than bench shooting and range time, in my experience.
