Finally got back to the range today. I was ringing steel at 115 yd all afternoon. My first experience shooting plates, was extremely satisfying.

My first AR is coming along nicely. I was going to go with a 16in 223 wylde barrel. I dunno about the bolt yet.

I should have gotten a matching aero lower. The finish isn't the same compared to the spike's tactical. The aero is really matte and not as shiny. I might just buy an aero lower and start another build with the spike's.

It's subject to some debate. Travis Haley just posted a good video on optics and optic placement.
Generally, it's to balance the optic over the center of the rifle, and because of the nature of red dots not needing eye relief, by placing the optic farther out, you're reducing it's size from your perspective.

Check out Haley's tricking your stick videos if you want to see someone more knowledgeable speak on the matter. Be prepared to hear phrases like biokinesthetic proprioceptive biomechanical muscle memory efficiency used slightly out of context a few times, though.

1:7 is good for the heavier stuff. 62 is okay, but not ideal. For the best results you want anything 69g and up.
Green tip is slang for whichever military ammo is 62g. The libs believed it was cop killing armor piercing ammunition and tried to ban it when it's really just a heavier bullet that stabilizes better out of a 1:7 barrel.
