Last week, someone made a thread asking about the correct order to read the Touhou print materials along with playing the games, and while trying to answer him, I realized there was no good, easy answer.
Obviously, you could read everything in the order it was published, but that means looking up a lot of dates and interleaving a lot of manga chapters that have nothing to do with each other; it's overkill. On the other hand, simply reading whole series at a time means that you'll miss crossovers, encounter spoilers, and find that characters are introduced out of order. The best way would be to figure out exactly which chapters reference others, then group things together so that you have to jump around between series as little as possible, but that takes quite a bit of work researching dates and cross-referencing events.
So, I did that work, and compiled the results into this chart, with the intent that it can be used to guide new players and answer any 'where do I start with x'-type questions. What do you think? Is it readable? Is the information correct and complete? Can it be improved in any way?
Holy cow, anon. Great job!
I think this is the final push I need to start reading them myself since I'm only acquainted with the games.
I would suggest adding a key to explain what the acronyms mean- you have some space in the bottom right corner.
This is a pretty good chart. I like the effort you went to to try and organize the Lunarian works (Cage in Lunatic Renegate, Saint Sinner, and Inaba). I've wanted to read more of the print works myself but haven't really known what direction to take, so this is helpful.
This is a great idea, actually.
A few gripes:
>Each box should be fully consumed before moving on to the next
I don't think this is correct for the games, as you can play them in any order. A better wording would be something along the lines of "It's recommended", or maybe even a separate chart with separate explanations for the games and the print works, because it's a bit cluttered to have them together.
It also seems weird that the print works are split up, wouldn't it be weird to read them in small segments, then read a different one or play a game and go back to it later? I'm aware that new chapters are being released, but whenever I read something, I like to read it in it's entirety instead of only a little at a time before moving onto something else, or not at all.
Also consider adding a tag for the spin-offs to show whether they are a fighting game/shmup. Other than that, it seems like a good flowchart for the games and possibly for the manga (I'm not quite as familiar with the print works). Sorry for being picky, but I do want this to be good.

Who here remembers how popular it was? I remember playing like 30 doujin games with Ayu in them, before Touhou killed it.
I remember it being popular but also ugly. I've never played a Key game, because of the art back then.
Also I think this had two animes. A super ugly one and then a better KyoAni one.
Only one I ever tried was EFZ.
I miss doujin fan games that weren't about touhou in general.

Anyone have some tips for three-starring the missions on Shooting Girl? Seems I'm always getting at least one break per mission.

This thread is for the discussion of untranslated Japanese visual novels.
What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished? You know the drill.
Well, finished up with Erozemi pretty much. It got so boring I just skipped to the H-scenes which were pretty nice. I don't really know what I expected, but the writing and characters were all so painfully boring I couldn't stand to waste the time reading through it normally. At least 妹射精管理 or whatever had the whole "psycho break from masturbating too much" subplot, that got me to the sex scenes without too much trouble. But Erozemi is all about tests and whatnot so the setting doesn't prop up the boring writing at all. This is a rude reminder that hot scenes and good art don't "make up" for boring writing.
I forgot to mention, the one thing I liked was how the girl on the left here talked and how the girl on the right got turned into a slut from having sex once (it's not as interesting as it sounds, though).
霞外籠逗留記 won the strawpoll. We'll be reading it as part of the first unofficial /jp/ reading group. Make sure to grab it from https://sukebei.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=613272 and join in on the fun.
Let's have a good discussion.

I recommend downloading the liar/rail soft brand collection pack, or at least selectively downloading particular titles... I imagine most people would want to download rail-soft titles anyway.
I myself will be using this opportunity to read my first Mareni title. I tried reading Kagerou before but the writing was a bit too intense for me. Hopefully this time will go better and I can keep up with my jpsie friends.

I've nuked my wrist and can't play IIDX anymore.
I can barely even type.
It hurts so fucking much.
Literally what even is the point of being alive anymore?
Do you feel that erogames, not VN, or flash touching games, or even RPGs with CGs, but actual games(i.e. action games) with ero are a not yet fully realized potential for doujin games or that they will never really move beyond low quality fapbait?
Really, most are just as shitty as most low quality games from conventions, but it seems like a not yet fully realized potential to have ero as a game mechanic.
Unfortunately, it seems like less are coming out lately. It's a shame too, it never really got merged with touhou or many existing franchises that erodoujinshi are made about.
>>15452752
I can't figure out if you're trying to imply that Repure Aria is either good or bad.
I'm not sure if it'll ever happen now with mobile games receiving the attention of amateur or small studios for those sweet impulse buy microtransactions.
The technology has improved and making games is easier than ever, but people are still going for the easy money.
