Could a modern icebreaker ship basically just ram through the entire 1700s British navy?
I mean just put some armed guards on deck to prevent boarding too and you could do serious damage.
>>3031927
I mean, yeah but that's not very useful because boarding was such a common and essential part of combat during the era.
What exactly is the point of this thread?
>>3031953
I just needed to know before I go back and try it myself.
What's the point in studying philosophy if you can't prove any of it? Are you retarded or something?
Whats the point of living if you cant enjoy it
>>3031689
wtf i dropped out of philosophy now
>>3031697
You'd enjoy your life a lot more if you studied something useful instead. Philosophy just makes you worry over pointless shit that you have no control over and guess at things that you *know* you can never find an objective answer to.

>When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. 11 But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Wait a minute, this is all a prophecy about Jesus, isn't it? God allows Abraham to withhold Isaac, his only son, from being sacrificed, but God himself doesn't withhold HIS son, the Son, from sacrifice. Hence Abraham talking about the idea of "the Lord will provide." And of course in place of Isaac they sacrifice a ram, and a baby ram is a lamb, hence Jesus, the "lamb of God." And even earlier in the chapter Isaac asks Abraham where the lamb for the burnt offering will be, and Abraham says that the Lord will provide the lamb. The ram is thus symbolic of Jesus, who God provided for sacrifice in place of Isaac, who represents all of humanity. It's the idea of Christ as substitute for man in paying the death-debt for sin.

it's the idea that you bring a child into the world knowing full well that the universe (or God) is perfectly capable of striking him down, and that you must raise your prodigy to have knowledge of this, so that they may live wisely, and that they may pass this knowledge to their sons as well. the world is not safe, but it can be made wonderful
>>3031298
Yeah, Genesis 22 is a prophecy of Christ.
What does /his/ think of John Gray?
>While the remarkable black civilization in Egypt remains alluring, there was sophistication and impressive inventions throughout ancient sub-Saharan Africa as well. There are just a handful of scholars in this area. The most prolific is the late Ivan Van Sertima, an associate professor at Rutgers University. He once poignantly wrote that “the nerve of the world has been deadened for centuries to the vibrations of African genius”
Can someone explain to me what the hell this dude is talking about?

>IT IS SAID THAT HE WAS THE MOST DANGEROUS KIND OF OFFICER - STUPID BUT HIGHLY MOTIVATED
What do you think about this book? Is it a pipe dream or a real possibility? Also his other book, 'The Third Industrial Revolution'. I'm personally still skeptical, especially with the rise of digital license rights, DRM, and such.

JUST
Here's a good rule of thumb. If your thread is nothing more than reposting another board's memes onto /his/, just don't post it.

Just what? This /his/ mate, ya gotta give more than a single word, all caps or not.
>let's march a mile and a half under heavy artillery fire while our own barrage doesn't do shit
did the sugar from that sweet tea rot their brains too?
any /his/ recommended books about his life ?
Are Christians and Muslims hypocrites?
How can Christianity or Islam be declared to be the truth if you can't prove you are not a brain in a jar imagining the Universe?
>if you can't prove you are not a brain in a jar imagining the Universe
but I can
