Could Lu Bu defeat Achilles? Either in single combat or as commanders.
Sometimes Poland looks bigger than Germany sometimes it doesn't. Is this because of how different method of cartography visualizations work or what?
Here it looks smaller.
Poland: 312,679 km^2
Germany: 357,376 km^2
Germany is bigger

Why did the Europeans conquer Africa? Didn't they fear the black warrior?
>>3032967
No, they no longer feared malaria.
>Didn't they fear the black warrior?
Obviously not.
What are some arguments against America being the greatest civilization in human history?
Here are accomplishments from my point of view.
>Relative peace
Sure there are some countries that are war-torn, or in fairly shitty political stability.
What i'm comparing it to is something like Rome, or Nazi Germany, countries that thrived on war, and would've likely collapsed if it wasn't for them
>Globalization
While a lot of people have arguments against globalization, at the end of the day it is a relatively good thing that has brought the world closer together, and has sped scientific progress.
>Scientific progress
America is responsible for a massive amount of inventions within the past ~100 years
>Social progress
Whether you agree with it or not, the world is much more equal than it has ever been, at least within the past 2,000 years. The vast majority of people see everyone else as their equal, regardless of race, sex, age, etc.
While I know some people are going to say that these are not good things realistically speaking, in my eyes at least, they are good for the betterment of humanity. America is set to be the superpower that will lead humanity beyond the stars, which is something no other nation has ever had the chance of realistically doing.
I'm just wondering, what are some arguments against America being "#1." Sure America has done some bad shit before, but for the most part the world is a better place because of us.

Actually, Communism was not that bad.
Soviets collapsed because America didn't co-operated.
How relevant were Sipahis in Ottoman history? Janissaries organized coups against Ottoman Sultans afaik, but what about Sipahis? Did they do it too? I know Sipahis were not abducted from Balkans, Sipahis were Turkish so they'd not hate Ottomans unlike Janissaries i guess.
>>3032452
Unlike the Janissaries, whose existence was brought upon by the Ottoman state and only the Ottoman state, many Sipahis were similar to European knights in that they formed a distinct class of hereditary landholding petty nobles whose main purpose was as an elite force for war. That is probably why you haven't heard much about them, because they existence isn't really that remarkable, and is completely to be expected.
>>3034081
Sipahis weren't hereditary nobles. The land they had wasn't even really owned by them, but by the state. The sultan granted them land in return for service but he could also retract it from them whenever and however he felt like.
Is it impossible for a vegan, arguing for the inherent value of all life to also be pro-choice/pro-abortion?
I don't want to stereotype, but i've met several hardcore vegans on my campus who also were really outspokenly pro choice. For me that's kind of a contradiction and i pointed that out, but i didn't get any helpful response on how that contradiction might be resolved. Any ideas how to combine the two?
pic unrelated
I'm sure they have no problem with killing tapeworms or other parasitic organisms either, it's pretty easy to justify abortion to yourself on those grounds
>>3032403
Simple
By being a vegan humans won't grow properly, animals will eat living grasses, they have their sacred cow, and goose and duck and pig
>>3032409
i see, so it's an argument on the grounds of "it hurts the mother/impairs her freedom". That does make sense...
how would you recommend i go about reading rollo may? (pic related especially)
i know he draws from other existential thinkers, but i dont know if they are prerequisite...
Have you seen this movie?

How accurate it is, at least from language pov?

Bump. I'm interested in if this film is good too. The narrator does not seem very enthused about it though.
What was Brigham Young's motive to push the Adam-God doctrine?
When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organize this world. He is MICHAEL, the Archangel, the ANCIENT OF DAYS! about whom holy men have written and spoken—He is our FATHER and our GOD, and the only God with whom WE have to do. Every man upon the earth, professing Christians or non-professing, must hear it, and will know it sooner or later.
